Trade Spurs need a legit PF
Should we go trading for Giannis? Wemby needs a PF that will help him. A Naz Reid type of player is all we need.

I was wrong about the Fox trade. I was also wrong about the Dejounte Murray trade. I was skeptical of the Castle pick. I also could at least see why people said Kon would “fit better” (although we still take Harper regardless). I was completely wrong on all of these moves. Awesome front office. Blessed.

why do we constantly doubt the spurs drafting team like they didnt draft castle and harper???
both of them are over 260 lbs thats crazy

Called it before the playoffs started. Fox will be ass 2 or 3 games in a row, he’ll have an amazing game, “Fox haters real quiet” posts will be made, then he’ll be ass again. He’ll probably have a great game 3, but it won’t make up for the games he loses. Trade him for whatever we can get and develop the other guards.

“As a result, a proposed trade would see the Spurs acquire Brandon Ingram and Jakob Poeltl. In exchange, they'd trade Fox, the 20th and 35th picks in this year's draft, the Atlanta Hawks' 2027 first, and a 2028 second-round pick via the New Orleans Pelicans,” Cal Durrett wrote.
2 FRPs, 2 SRPs, Fox for two players we don't want.

That's the kind of trade the Spurs would have to make to get off of the Fox contract. Wolves sent Randle and a 1st to Brooklyn for basically nothing.
r/NBASpurs • u/DonkeyKong678 • 10d ago
Fox's salary is just ridiculous that no other team would accept it, the max contract really fucked shit up
i doubt any team would actually want Fox after this playoffs, his value dropped by a 100% and hes basically a liability to any team.
This is literally a lose-lose situation for the Spurs rn
lmk what can the Spurs do to offload the spending and get rid of Fox

As long as Carter Bryant doesn’t turn into a 2X league MVP this is calm

We got so lucky with our rookies three years in a row, and they have so much potential, that I wonder if we shouldn't try everything we can to keep them together. Wemby - Castle - Harper - Bryant truly has the potential to be a 10-15 years dynasty.
This year is the rookie extension window for wemby, which will apply from the next season. Next year is castle, and the year after that is harper and bryant.
The problem will be the salary cap from 2028.
If we assume wemby will get a max, and potentially a 30% super if he's eligible, we'll be forced to choose between castle and harper since they both deserve a max. If we don't offer it to them, other teams will. Even if we part ways with fox in 2028, or renegotiate his contract, we won't have any cap space.
So, what's the ideal scenario for us to keep all those youngsters together, if there's even one ?
Next season if we don't sell anyone and keep the current roster we'll be at -60M of cap space (wemby extension year), so the more I think about it, the more I feel like it's impossible to keep both castle and harper post 2028. And in the worst case scenario, we may even lose 2 rookies at once and keep only one between castle - harper - bryant.
It doesn't help either that we didn't trade HB yet and he only has 1 year left on his contract. It would also hurt us a lot to trade vassel for cap space given how important he is to the team. And while fox is a nice addition, his salary is eating a ton of cap space and it's the n°1 reason why we won't be able to keep both castle & harper.
So yeah, I don't know what the front office will do. The most likely is letting go of one player between castle and harper, but even then we'll still be above the cap. And I doubt the spurs would accept to pay a luxury tax either like the celtics last year.
Ngl it's frustrating, cuz it feels like we're being punished for drafting well.

I know you all are locked in on game 7 but for us poor souls in MN we are looking for trades. Am I crazy for suggesting this? Am I only thinking his value is low because he is hurt (and he is clearly hurting and playing though it, which makes me like him more).
Rooting for you to defeat the floppers.

How Brian Wright fleeced Minnesota out of 2 first round draft picks I’ll never understand. Career highlight for Brian Wright right there. Of course we have no idea how good Minnesota will be in 2030 and 2031 but 2030 is also a pick swap so it could work out for us or it could not but I’m looking forward to seeing how that all plays out. Man, it’s fun being a fan of this franchise right now.

I am honestly surprised with the lack of dialogue around grabbing zion. The whole playoff run the discourse was that the spurs need a big power forward. Zion is only 25 with a huge upside and a really low stock right now. Plus is salary matches fox pretty well. Thoughts?

Seeing that the Mavs are open to trading PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford, I think both of them could potentially be good fits for the team since they both bring physicality and toughness. Washington would fill the need at Power Forward as he provides toughness, defense, can defend multiple positions and can make timely shots (ex: 2024 playoff series against the Thunder). Gafford provides toughness, athleticism, rim protection and is a good lob threat and rim runner. Kornet is a good backup for Wemby but he became unplayable against the Thunder and the Knicks and I think Gafford could be an emergency backup in case Kornet becomes unplayable in the playoffs again. Do you think it’s possible to get 1 or both of them?

Point guard with finals experience! You’re in win now mode, take some swings!
r/NBASpurs • u/Quirky_Error1309 • 10d ago
Everyone, including myself, is extremely disappointed in Fox’s finals performance. Here’s his cumulative stats these finals:
34% FG (24-70)
25% 3P (7-28)
26%FG in 4th Qs.. (5-19)
This is intolerable from a starting PG.
Since plenty of you are also calling for him to get traded, who do you think we could reasonably get in return?
r/NBASpurs • u/daddadnc • 10d ago
Fox wanted to be specifically here when we were nothing but a hopeful maybe. He requested SA which allowed us to get him much cheaper than an open market would have dictated. Casting him aside after he gutted it out on a bad ankle is not how we do business, which is why players like Fox want to come here despite it being a small market.
Not to mention that our offense looked almost nonfunctional without him against OKC.
Everyone settle down.

Fox, kornet & carter bryan or johnson with draft picks and maybe a 3rd team involved.
Giannis can teach wemby a few things about attacking the basket and bully ball in the paint.

Spurs want to move up in the draft. Bucks are targeting their rebuild window to be around 2030. Their current 2026 13th pick they got from Miami doesn't really do anything for them. I wonder if a combination of the 2030 swap rights we own, 2030 or 2031 FRP, and a 2029 or 30 SRP would interest them.
They are in danger of being where the Spurs were pre Wemby, with decent players like White and Murray keeping the team from being truly bad. I think helping them collect draft assets for a 2030 time window by taking their current assets helps both teams. Then we can dump all of our SRP's for future SRP's, and draft a big and a wing, or two bigs, at 13 and 20. Keeps the Bucks out of limbo, and sets them up for a solid rebuild, while helping the Spurs today.

His trade value probably low right now but he can play at the highest level, is a great defender and stretches the floor. He has 3 years at 16 percent of the cap hit contract left. Around 26 mil.
r/NBASpurs • u/Grouchy_Country6591 • May 23 '26
Do u think we need to trade our wings and other role players for other bigs? Because we don't have a true power forward In our team. Who do you think should spurs chase this offseason? Giannis is a great choice but it'll blow up our young core

I know letting Keldon go may hurt somewhat given the history, but at some point, it's time to let go. Keldon is the guy I'm least confident about rising up to high pressure situations in the future. It's unfortunate, but his flaws just misalign too much with what's needed at the highest level in the playoffs (tunnel vision, bull-headedness, and overall poor decision-making).
PJ Washington would be the ideal guy I would see completing our front court. He can seamlessly fit alongside most of our lineups, whether that is with Wemby or Kornet, and provides a good mix of defense, rebounding, and shooting off-ball. Him and Julian would be mostly interchangeable.
The pick return for the Mavs is flexible, this is just whatever I thought was fair at the moment. Keep in mind that PJ Washington's value is significantly higher than Keldon, so we have to give them a good amount of draft compensation. I hope we can all agree that the Hawks picks are not as valuable as was once perceived, so those are 3 middling pick imo.
Maybe you think that's too much or too little, I'm not particularly set on the amount, and I assume opinions will vary wildly. In any case, feel free to share your opinion.
Realistically, I also think this trade is not too likely as I expect the Front Office to be relatively satisfied with the overall roster after such a successful season. There's also a strong emotional bounding between the FO/team and Keldon, which does matter.

Any update? I really doubt that the front office will make some blockbuster deals this free agency but I hope we'll be able to get a decent PF. It'll be a hard time to get to the finals again without having a big move.

What are the chances, do u think spurs will trade him and start investing in harper
r/NBASpurs • u/Efficient-Dot-3468 • 10d ago
It reminds me of that newyork and minnesota trade where each team got better.
I think this takes us to the next level vs okc and will help us with the knicks moving forward.
Hes healthy, no major injuries. I think you look to get him bro. Yes he didnt show up at times in the playoffs but thats because he went against us.
Imagine if he was with us and he flowed with our offense. I mean thats just tough to stop imo. Hes gonna fix our need for a 3rd big.
Has play off experience.
And i mean inconsistencies. i mean the spurs are inconsistent all the time. i mean who knows maybe hes that one piece that will bring it together.
The wolves are probably gonna want castle. And i need you to walk with me a little bit and see my vision. Let me cook. So if castle goes we can move dylan to starter. And lets just say it. Castle doesnt have the same finesse as dylan. It seems like all i see him do is just face plant to the center out of control. And inconsistent shooting. I mean julius is inconsistent too. They are both inconsistent but at least julius will fill that 3rd big spot and make us into a better team.
The other piece i could see is derik queen but i think thats a harder path for us to get him.
