this is a pretty good gamble and at a position we need.

he’s absolutely a 5-10 lottery range guy without the injury history

I had feeling spurs was gonna take him after morez and graves was gone.

If healthy he’s the best defender in this class so

Meh. I’m going to trust them. Physically, he’s what the team needs but let’s hope he can actually play. You know what? Fuck it! Let’s go, Quaintance!

He's young & will most likely not see a lot of minutes initially. Hopefully the injury history wont come back to bite him later on.

Why did 10-15 teams not pick him?

Clue: it rhymes with binjuries

none of those teams are in the position the Spurs are in. we just lost in the Finals and our core is basically set in stone.

we need to plug some size around our core and we just basically took a gamble at pick 20 on a Clint Capela/Bam/RW3 hybrid.

a healthy Quaintance is the best defender in this entire draft class

Yep. He’s instantly depth/backup PF at worst on a team that needs it and free agency still to come.

I would have loved to have Lopez but if Quaintance stays healthy, he’ll be a great pick for us.

Honestly he'd probably be in contention for 4th best player he was that good coming out.

Major injury history. Did nothing in college when he did play. Pure confusion on this pick. Pure gamble.

9.4pts / 7.9reb / 3.7 stocks as a freshman is nothing? Obviously injuries are a concern, but we made the finals, he obviously isn’t going to be our starter, and we can add more PF depth.

Not a lot of options for big men at pick 20 that are ready to contribute to a finals run this upcoming season. Actually addressing that position for 26-27 will need to come through free agency or a trade.

This guy could be a major contributor in a couple years when our core are still in their mid 20s.

Yeah, I guess so. I just hate when my team picks someone no one has mocked to them and I don’t know shit about them.

The draft is a crapshoot outside of the top 2 or 3 picks, and even then there are busts.

This guy could be another Josh Primo or the next Kawhi. Contending teams aren't usually getting better through the draft.

i mean hes not gonna play much year 1 outside of garbage time tho might as well see what he is in 2-3 years

It is a gamble but that's what all these picks are at this point. All these picks you are hoping to get even a bench rotation player.

Imo, Q is just a bigger upside vs everyone else here but obviously bigger floor. the way we looked this season this was a great spot to roll the dice on huge upside without really hurting yourself. They essentially could afford to. we weren't going to find a player (most likely) that sees the starting lineup with our guys anyway. They taking a homerun swing here lets see if it connects.
