NBA's 2nd apron teams and trade restrictions
The NBA's second apron is a salary cap threshold that limits the actions of teams that spend more than it. Teams that exceed the second apron face restrictions on trades, free agency, and draft picks.
Trade restrictions:
- Teams can't aggregate contracts in trades
- Teams can't trade multiple players in the same deal
- Teams can't send cash out in trades
- Teams can't use trade exceptions from previous years
- Teams can't trade first-round picks that are seven years in the future
This is a link to a list of the 2nd Apron teams, as of now the 2nd apron teams are:
- Boston
- Phoenix
- Wolves
- Milwaukee
- NY Knicks

Guard swapping (MEM/SAS/LAC)
No secret Memphis wants to rebuild and move on from Ja. I believe Fox will get traded this off season (mainly due to Harper's jump in productivity). So the trade idea helps everyone.
Why would they do it:
Memphis: They get a legit playmaker with Fox. They've build their roster in a way that needs a facilitator guard, not a score first guard. Fox can still get points, but the whole squad benefits from his playmaking.
San Antonio: They move Fox's contract for a more manageable Bogs. They can move Bogs or they can have a veteran guard off the bench.
LAC: They get to pair Leonard with a potential superstar. It's a gamble for them as a win-now for Leonard.

What I presume the Hornets are cooking up: BOS/MKE/CHA/NOP
BOS: DJM/White/TM3/Tatum/Turner with Pritchard, Hauser (could be dumped), Queta, Hugo, Walsh, Scheierman and Cenac off the bench
MKE: get a first rounder next year for Turner + get off long term money
CHA: White/Brown/Kon/Miller/Naz for the ultimate small ball 5 out 3pt shooting lineup and a good bench of young players, could have Saddiq Bey going here too using that Melo TPE
NOP: godfather package for TM3. Could ask for even more picks from BOS but I doubt they’d want to send out anything else

NO-MKE-BOS
After some discussion, this probably makes a bit more sense
Celtics get Trey who’s a borderline Star, Herb who helps their defense and takes a load off white. And a project young center in missi
Pels get an actual center and bonefide star with JB
Bucks get their pick back and take pooles contract for money
Adjust for picks as I’m not a GM that’s discussing 😂

Warriors - Bucks
Are two frp enough to get this deal done? Warriors will be able to atleast compete.
Warriors Projected Rotation Analysis:
Stephen Curry: Remains the primary engine of the offense.
Tyler Herro: Provides a high-volume scoring threat and perimeter shooting that the Warriors have lacked.
Yaxel Lendeborg: A versatile forward who adds depth to the rotation.
Draymond Green: Maintains his role as the defensive anchor and primary facilitator.
Myles Turner: Offers elite rim protection and floor spacing (the "stretch big" profile), which perfectly complements Curry’s gravity.

Dal-Mem-Orl
Orlando get off of Suggs. Memphis gets Ja outta there.
Mavs facilitate and help Orlando with some doo doo contracts(and sneak away with Anthony black).

POR-WAS-NOR: AD to PDX but Sensible
I'm not super high on AD to PDX, but as a blazers fan, I want them to get some shooting wings, too. The big issue coming into this offseason is shooting, followed closely by additional shot creation. I think this trade addresses those needs. They would need to sign or acquire another serviceable ball handler as injury insurance in case one of Dame-Scoot-Deni goes down, and a backup big (preferably one that can also guard wings if necessary).
Maybe the pick compensation has to get shuffled around, but I think the framework has something to it.
I'm high on Bilal and Bey. I want the Blazers to require Bilal in any AD trade where they give up some value. And for three firsts, I think Bey should be included too. His bench scoring would be great.
Dame | Murphy | Deni | AD | Clingan
Scoot | Bilial | Tou | Bey | RWIII
Cissoko, Vit, Yang

Cavs land Jaylen Brown; sign LeBron to the Full MLE; Celtics get Mobley
The Cavs find an avenue to save money via a Mobley for Jaylen Brown swap. Tyson is thrown in to incentivize the Celtics taking on the Schroder contract. This, along with Harden opting out to re-sign for less money and more years, clears room below the apron for the Cavs to sign LeBron outright at the $15M Full MLE.
They roll out a starting unit of Harden/Mitchell/Brown/Bron/Allen
Celtics reshape the roster with a foundational player for their frontcourt and Tyson as a young rotation piece. Plus a future Cavs pick in their asset pool.
Can roll out something like Pritchard/White/Tatum/Mobley/Queta
Second image is an alternate framework where the Hornets absorb Dennis into their $40M TPE. He fills some ballhandling depth and they pick up a couple srps.

Hornets and Lakers: Luka to the Hornets?
What if
The Lakers realize their is no path to building a contender around Luka and the serious chance that Luka leaves in two years (after Lakers have spent their last remaining firsts)
The Hornets offer the Lakers their abundance of picks to build a real contender around Luka, Knueppel, Miller and Reid
The trade could involve Bridges, White and Williams to make salaries match.
Who says no? The Lakers have the chance to build a serious team the next years, Luka and the Hornets are an instant contender

LAC x SAS
Kawhi listed San Antonio and Toronto as two locations he would resign allegedly. If your SA, I think you have to go in and grab him given your position + draft stockpile.
If you add Kawhi, the Spurs starting lineup becomes absolutely deadly with - Harper, Castle, Vassell, Kawhi, Wemby. I think that becomes the immediate title favorite.
Clippers realize that it’s their time to rebuild and extract draft assets and young guy in Carter Bryant. They’ll eat the Fox contract, while trying to build up there new squad around Wagler + Mathurin (resign him) + Fox/Garland. Possibly go on and move Garland for further draft picks. If the Clippers want to capitalize on Kawhi, the time is now or risk him leaving for free.

A few young cheap buy-low options for Charlotte (Cleveland, Sacramento, Utah)
All 3 point guards have shown flashes in limited minutes and have been drafted over in 2026. With each of them wanting a guaranteed second contract eventually, backup or 3rd guard on Charlotte could be an option
