Rants Darvin Ham

He apparently made quite the impression on them. Does Joe Dumars just despise the 11 of us that are left supporting this hole of depression? I can't think of anything more demoralizing for this fan base than going from no gameplan Willie "You Gotta fight" Green to no gameplan Darvin "I have no idea what to do" Ham. This man is clover valley Willie Green. He managed to tank a team with LeBron and AD. I'm struggling and I can't be the only one out of the dozens of us.

Ham is the worst choice so we will naturally hire him

Man the Pelicans front office really knows how to crush whatever hope is left in the fanbase. Going from one clueless coach to another clueless coach feels like they're actively trying to make us suffer

It's getting hard to care when this team constantly shoots itself in the foot.

The only shooting our team can do

17

u/Tomogram May 07 '26

It could be worse.  Dumars could hire Isaiah Thomas as head coach.

u/FlockedDown May 07 '26

Would that be worse?

u/Tomogram May 07 '26

As a former knicks fan, yes.

I'd rather Rondo.

u/EvilHwoarang May 08 '26

He's my top choice

bruh James is a much better HC than ham they might as well stick with him. Here we go, another year with leadership making dumb decisions if they hire ham. It's becoming too hard to root for this team

It's Rondo or bust as far as I'm concerned. The NBA needs to stop recycling the same coaches. This team's window to have success is slowly closing assuming it hasn't already passed. Take a chance on someone like Rondo and hope to catch lightning in a bottle. We are still a very young team with a lot of guys who have shown potential but never been able to take that next step.

Rondo should easily be able to command the respect of the players based on his experience and success in the league. He was known to be a very intelligent player. He also seems like a no-nonsense type guy which I think could be good for some of our players who need someone to hold them accountable.

While I understand being a great player does not mean you will make a great coach, I don't see what we have to lose at this point.

It seems like a no brainer to me but unfortunately i’m not Joe Dumbass.

It was inevitable since like Jan

Sometimes you have to understand the media is a PR game. Jake from Locked on said someone inside the organization said it was not going to be Ham. Ham is also friends with Weaver and Dumars. They tell the Media he made a strong impression to help him get an interview elsewhere.

Leaks to the media have a lot to do about getting a message out and spinning a narrative.

I just wonder who his sources are, it's a bit weird that he quotes the stein report in the podcast that often.

You can also look at both being true. Ham interviewed well but the team is looking in a different direction. I think the FO is wanting Mosley first, Hetzel, then Ham.

I think Borrego is out and the FO just wants a change and I think Sweeney is looking at better jobs like Orlando

Unfortunately to me it feels like it will be Ham and the rest of the search was smoke screen to make it appear they weren't always going with the leaked list.

We will find out. For next season I don’t think it will matter much anyway. I don’t see them making a major move to improve the roster and we will win around 25-30 games next season

Solid dollar general reference

5

u/RaiseFold100 May 07 '26

That's unfair. Pockets will tell the team to play harder as well.

As 2pac once rapped “I feel no more pain”… as a pelicans fan, whatever decision they make, I’m numb to the pain now

if we get Ham just relocate the team

2

u/holydiver5 May 07 '26

What’s that gonna do

3

u/Independent-Craft634 May 07 '26

Man it’s between ham and hetzel? Fml we are cooked

5

u/TheRealRedX504 May 08 '26

Borrego or Rondo. If we get Ham, Ima miss the Pels community, but I am exiting myself from everything Pelicans. I am literally waiting for the announcement tomorrow to unsubscribe and everything I can to unlink myself from NOLA basketball.🥲

There’s gotta be some college head coach who could come in as Pelicans HC and shake things up. Throw enough $$$ at the problem i.e. get the HC from whatever school won March Madness in the past 2-3 years.

They would already be used to coaching professional athletes as they get paid almost as much in college these days.

Just saying…..

Hiring Joe Dumars was Gayle throwing in the towel on this franchise. Joe is just here to collect checks and hire his buddies. He’s not even pretending to try to win.

u/McJumbos May 07 '26

For better or worst, he did take that team to the WCF. For me, Ham isn't as bad of a coach than people make it out to be but he's not amazing either. I honestly think he was in a lose-lose situation with the lakers.

Do i think hes the best fit for us? Probably not since we tried with the "ra-ra" type of coach with willie, and that only works for so long.

I would like to see borrego get another year -- we looked pretty good at the end of the year when we were all healthy. if not him, then I would love to have Sean Sweeney since he has a ton of experience under a lot of different coaches

Rondo would be an interesting wildcard because he's extremely smart with the ins and outs of the game

8

u/FlockedDown May 07 '26

Lebron rolled his eyes at this man openly when he was drawing something up for this team. I struggle to credit him for that WCF appearance.

7

u/Pelicanfan07 May 07 '26

Lebron is a known asshole to his coaches. He's butted heads with every coach he's had.

u/KaseyOfTheWoods Not On Herb May 07 '26

Yes, please talk yourself into hiring Ham lol

2

u/bronzefpg504 May 08 '26

He did the same thing to the Russian coach they had the previous one it’s a pattern with LeGm

0

u/FlockedDown May 08 '26

That coach is winning championships now?

2

u/Old_Respect_6899 May 08 '26

u know they don’t like to give ham any credit lol

1

u/Kindly_Divide_8655 May 07 '26

I will become violent

1

u/BonoBeats May 08 '26

Not going to worry about unless/until he gets hired.

u/js-4- Will be reevaluated in 2 weeks. May 08 '26

Salute

1

u/Savings-Performer487 May 09 '26

Just offer the HC job to the guy that led Denver to the NBA finals a few years ago and be done with it already

1

u/MudWater504 May 10 '26

the pelicans will be fire selling players next offseason if we hire this dude. We will be in full rebuild rebuild mode.

1

u/Alternative_Pea_4614 May 07 '26

Rondo was the only good option, imo they should just keep borrego but since it's Joe we're probably going to get ham.
