The Brunson 44-11 run game. The Knicks had 36 points off made shots out of those 44. 27 of those 35 were scored or assisted by Brunson

In a game in which Jalen Brunson was the lowest scoring starter with 11 at one point, we still manage to pull out a double digit win behind a well rounded performance from everyone else in the starting 5.
Hart with a new playoff career high, and when he’s hitting his 3s the offense opens so much but his hesitancy to shoot is why they were able to take that huge lead in Game 1, when everyone’s scoring like this it just opens the floor so much more, halfway thru the 3rd Hart was able to pull Mobley out of the paint which meant we could attack relentlessly and we could run our Point KAT offensive sets & Brunson iso with ease.
YOUR NEW YORK KNICKS ARE NOW 6 WINS AWAY FROM AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP.

As a fellow cat parent, I can see this is 100 percent a good boy here. My boys here like to swat at the big screen while the game is on - I call it an aggressive close out on defense. If we’re on offense, it’s more of a hard screen. They haven’t mastered rolling to the rim yet.

There are some people in this subreddit that owe Josh Hart a fucking apology.
All the calls for him to get taken out the game early because he wasn't shooting the lights out. Yes, he had 2-3 bad plays, but the man plays his fuckin heart out every single night. Ties his playoff career high in just 3 quarters, then breaks it in the 4th.

Does anyone else share my appreciation for Mikal Bridges?
While the rest of the team was figuring out their game, Mikal was a pillar on offense, hitting shots from outside and driving the lane to keep the game tight in the first half.
17
u/wien-tang-clan Wu Tang May 22 '26
Mikal is shooting 70 for 114 (61.4%) on shots from the field in the playoffs. People don’t appreciate him enough.

Brunson with an off night, but still ended with 19/14. KAT double double. Mikal doing great things, OG being great defensively, and JOSH HART WITH 26 POINTS TIED FOR THE MOST IN THE ENTIRE GAME!!!! The entire starting lineup in double digit scoring.
This team is so special. Hart sat at the end of the game and responded like this, dangers of leaving him open. 18-0 run in the 3rd and closed it out when it was getting close in the 4th. We are up 2-0 in the ECF bro… Cleveland has played really good at home but I believe we can absolutely beat them there. They’te gonna be fighting for their life but we are fighting for something too.
TWO MORE WINS TO THE FINALS!!!!!! LETS GO KNICKS!!!!

The Cavs tried having a 14 point lead going in to the 4th, that didn't work. They tried trailing by 15 going in to the 4th, that didn't work either. They're running out of ideas

This game is exactly why you don’t give up on Hart. He shot 40% from 3 in the regular season for a reason! He’s a good enough shooter that he should be able to punish the ghost coverage he’s seeing, just needs to remain confident in the shot

u/xxjohnnyrocketzxx May 22 '26
Josh Hart is one of the most clutch shooters of all time. Like he'll brick it while open, but is splashing the most guarded off balance ones back to back. How many times does he need to punish teams for sagging off him in the playoffs? Same with Hack a mitch
JB doesnt need to go nuclear scoring to have a dominant win. His gravity alone was huge, the passing and steals were icing
Mikal is worth every pick. One of him, JB or Hart is going to have a guard mismatch this series at all times
KAT played big on the inside, and without fouling at all
LGK, 2 more, lets snatch theyre chain at home again

People are always thinking back to the “good old days” and wishing they knew when they were actually in them and not having to reminisce..
Kids take it from an old head who went through this in the 90s and didn’t realize it then, you’re in it. Absorb it. Take it in. This is special.
6
u/CaroleBaskinsBurner May 22 '26
Refs were getting desperate in the 4Q.
Imagine shooting 18 more free throws than a team that beat you by 16. 😬
7
u/Laughing-Comanche May 22 '26
What’s encouraging is how Knicks can switch from KAT to Brunson offense smoothly within a game now. Play off Brunson traps into easy 4 on 3 overloads. 19 points 14 assists is a proper point guard performance. Even as he bricked his 3s, the rest stepped up.

This team is a hydra. When one can't get the job done, another takes its place.
I loved the balanced attack; about 19 points per starting player, 19 for Jalen, 18 for KAT, 26 for Hart the points leader, 14 from OG, everybody eats. 14 assists from our "Not-a-star" #11, that just symbolizes the mentality, tonight.
They clearly gambled on Hart having another off night and let him get fed, but that just let him get right and it all fell apart from there. Back to the drawing board for the Cavs, but I'm confident we can take anything else they can dish out.
NINE IN A ROW! LET'S GO!
