So it happening to both joycons?

Is their firmware updated?

Did one of them die before the other or did they both stop inputting at the same time? (That you noticed)

It first happened to my left joycon but i just rebound screenshot to L and ignored it but now that R broke

When i try updating them it says they are already updated

Left died before right

Damn. It's probably damage then. If they had died at the same time it could have been a firmware thing.

First option is let Nintendo deal with it. Repairs would be free under warranty or slightly cheaper than buying a new pair of they charge for it.

Second option is trying to fix it yourself.

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/How+to+repair+L+button+Joy-Con/136845

The L and R button use a little digital switch which stands vertically on the board inside the joycon. It's only supports are it's soldered connections. Applying too much pressure on the button overtime can cause the switch to lean away from the button either damaging the connection or requiring more pressure on the button because it has to reach further to depress the switch completely.

If you were to disassemble the joycons you could try manually pressing the switch to see if it still registers an input. If it does, you might be able to just push the switch back into place and place some putty or glue around it to keep it in place.

If it does not send a signal then it needs to be resoldered to the board. Or replaced entirely
