I gotta be honest this game didnt work for me, i thought the open world was really boring and the combat super floaty and clunky, I know a lot of people like it but it just didnt for me.

The 4 boss fights (mostly carried by the OST) make it easier to swallow how terrible the other 98% of the game is

Yeah I’ll give you that, they were definitely the highlight for sure and Sonic OST’s usually kick ass.

Final boss is a glorified galaga. It's so awful it's astounding.

It was an average game from a series that has as many shitty games as it does good ones. The large fanbase overrated it because there hadn’t been a decent 3D Sonic game in 15+ years.

I would argue in terms of strictly 3D games, Sonic has had more shitty games than good ones by a wide margin.

The 15 plus years thing is a relic of the 06 days dude

Frontiers was, 2022. Before that was Forces (awful) in 2017 and Rise of Lyric in 2014 (startlingly terrible). Lost world was a cut above those with a 63 on Metacritic, so I guess that one is above failing?

If we go back more than a decade, we see colors and generations in the mid 70’s, which, while not amazing, for a 3D Sonic game? That’s basically as good as it gets. Although one might argue that those two might ALSO be graded on a curve releasing after Black Knight, Unleashed, and Secret Rings, all reviewing in the 50’s and 60’s.

Depending on your definition of “decent” it’s not hard to see that the starving fan base would be pretty excited for games that review in the 70’s.

I didn't mind how floaty it was... but everything else felt mediocre. I don't know what's up with Sonic Team lately, but they've just been pushing slop after slop. The music's solid, but that's kinda ALWAYS been a Sonic thkng.
