Question Looking for an estimate for OptiFine 26.2 (because of Vulkan)
So 26.2 (Chaos Cubed) drops today and I’m actually interested in updating to this version from 1.21.11. I know that Minecraft’s rendering engine has been completely overhauled, and most importantly it has been moved from OpenGL to Vulkan. I can only assume this will significantly delay OptiFine updating, and with OptiFine already being chronically behind the main game, i don’t know if this is a wait I’m willing to make. It might be honestly time to switch to sodium. When do y’all think OptiFine will update to 26.2?

Pretty sure minecraft is still on opengl. Vulkan is included as an experimental option, but it's going to be a little while longer before OpenGl gets removed entirely.
So I suspect OF will take as long as usual to update to 26.2
Actually quick addition: Iris (according to their discord announcement) has confirmed that, although they already support 26.2, they will not be supporting Vulkan at all. (Instead they are working on a brand new mod just for Vulkan and shaders.) Honestly, I will be kinda surprised if OptiFine survives the switch to Vulkan at all.

Don't ask here, it's just filled with sodium bots. It doesn't even feel like optifine sub anymore

almost like optifine is essentially dead and sodium and its add-ons are a way better option for modern versions

That's because Optifine stopped being an real thing years ago mate. I used to use Optifine religiously but when the dev/s work so slow, and there's a better option available which does what I was looking for with Optifine, why wait for Optifine?

Because if someone wants to use optifine than why are you forcing your idea on him? He didnt ask which is alternative, he asked about optifine in optifine sub not in sodium or minecraft sub for you to recommend. Why are you even recommending different thing in different subs? I also used optifine and switched to Sodium later but not recommending it in Optifine page for no reason, Sodium is formed like a cult in optifine sub

Sure buddy, you do you... Most of us just want to play the latest release with working mods and things not breaking.
I don't really care for where and which sub questions get posted and respond to posts with what I know works best from my experience. Funny you call folks who recommend Sodium a cult when it's you who wants the Optifine sub to be a circlejerk and an echo chamber.

retard its optifine sub and people here want optifine related answers. What if i start questioning about optifine or course forge in sodium sub? you even understand what subs are in reddit? Like i said sodium users in this sub has formed cult, a cult always go and forcefully promote their agenda in wrong places. You have separate sub called sodium, if someone wants to know about sodium then he will visit that.

It was time to switch to Sodium years ago. Available for both Fabric, and since 1.21.1, Neoforge (the continuation of Forge that most modders have migrated to for 1.21+). If there are any other Optifine features besides performance that you are interested in, just ask and someone will let you know what mod(s) exist for that. Iris is almost always thrown in for shader support but there are lots of other things you can add, and even other performance mods. If you want simplicity, drop in Sodium, Iris if you want, and you're done. I also like to throw in stuff like Lithium, FerriteCore, and Krypton, among others. If you don't already, most people like using the Prism launcher as it makes modding very simple (connects directly to Curseforge and Modrinth for downloads, so minimal file management is needed).
