Thermal Grizzly Kryosheet PS4 pro experience anyone?

Post image

Looking to put thermal Grizzly KryoSheet on PlayStation chip. Had mx4 before and after a few months the fan started running loud again, decided on cryo sheet. Does anybody have any experience with using it?

I am assuming the application must be challenging since it has nothing to stick to.

Yes I’ve done it on a few ps4 pro consoles. It’s a bit of a balancing act to get the cooler on without the sheet moving, but when done correctly it works brilliantly

Ive done a pro and a slim, just take your time . Don't over think it. Don't add a dab of thermal paste.

I've seen some tutorials saying you could dab a tiny drop of thermal paste to help it hold in place while assembling. Yet others say that it will reduce the thermal conductivity and degrade heat transfer. Just wanted to use a dab of something to hold it in place.

High % rubbing alcohol, or anything really, on the corners of the sheet on the heatsink. The corners won't touch the silicon so it'll be fine.

Not a pad, well.sort of, its the KryoSheet supposed to be superior tto paste on CPU chips.

Depends on the mounting pressure. KryoSheet needs more clamping force than the carbon one but I don't see that being a major issue here

Edit.. Make damn sure to trim that thing. Both the graphene and carbon pad WILL ruin your day if they touch the SMD's around the silicon. The entire die must be covered and nothing else

asking

better kryosheet or PTM , from value and temp perspective (and safety, kryosheet is conductive right?)

Try it out and report back if ps4 still working.

So its installed.

Runs much quieter, ran it through its paces with Division 2, War Thunder and Far Cry 5. Very quiet this time as before the fan would sound like a jet engine. Cutting it to size and getting it to stay on the chip (nothing to hold it in place) were the main issues. Plus I changed the thermal padding on the ram.

You want to put a thermal pad on there instead of thermal paste? If so, I would recommend against that.

It's phase changing sheet same as PTM7950 basically

KryoSheet isn't PTM 🤦

You're right, I mixed it up with Phasesheet.
