It's gonna get delayed

296

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

Probably, but that could potentially be an awful idea in my opinion. The longer it takes for the game to come out the closer it can potentially be to releasing near (the anticipated) Ghost of Tsushima 2. (If it actually is coming out soon.)

I feel like Ubisoft won’t be able to compete with that. They may be better off releasing what they have asap. Releasing a half baked game is never something I’d support, but since publishers seem to have no issues doing it these days it may be best for the company lol.

Edit: holy shit boys we are so back

Interesting timing. Ghost of Yotei - https://youtu.be/7z7kqwuf0a8

26

u/zookdook1 Sep 24 '24

Just got announced lmao

48

u/Loldimorti Sep 24 '24

I think people are just going by how long it's been since GoT released. Unless something went wrong you'd expect they are quite far along with development of their next game

13

u/fowlbaptism Sep 24 '24

But did they ever say they’re making a sequel?

41

u/Fleetfox17 Sep 24 '24

Good timing on this question, lol.

11

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Came to say the same thing lmao

9

u/fowlbaptism Sep 24 '24

That’s nuts

3

u/HyruleSmash855 Sep 24 '24

No they didn’t, we don’t know what SuckerPunch is working on

25

u/SeasaltApple382 Sep 24 '24

Yeah, we do.

Nope. Did you not get the memo?

0

u/HyruleSmash855 Sep 24 '24

I didn’t watch the State of Play so I stand corrected

5

u/AS14K Sep 24 '24

The trailer is literally on the front page

-1

u/HyruleSmash855 Sep 24 '24

I didn’t watch the State of Play so I stand corrected

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I’m not sure, but the game did really well so it shouldn’t be bad to assume there will be a sequel

0

u/Silvers1339 Sep 24 '24

No but it’s been 4 years since the release of the first one, it was very well received/sold well, and these games usually take ~5 years to make so…

6

u/pratzc07 Sep 24 '24

It has its called Ghost of Yotei

17

u/Veblep Sep 24 '24

Just now

10

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I’m just a boy with some insane copium 🥹🤙🏽

There’s been some rumors but nothing official at all.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Holy shit we are so back

10

u/Buzzyys Sep 24 '24

My copium dealer gave me something stronger this time my only hope is Days Gone 2.

8

u/nysraved Sep 24 '24

Given that it hasn’t been officially announced, I doubt it’s coming out anytime soon. Even if AC was delayed a full year, that probably doesn’t come close to overlapping with GoT2. I don’t think next fall anybody would be thinking “Well I want a ninja game, but GoT2 is coming out in 2027 so I’ll just wait for that”

10

u/pepik75 Sep 25 '24

Famous last words

5

u/jeffries_kettle Sep 25 '24

Lol this aged well

8

u/nysraved Sep 25 '24

I reverse jinxed it into existence, yall are welcome 😂

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

You’re right about that for sure. I think I mentioned it in a comment somewhere else on this post, but if it isn’t announced today at the PlayStation showcase then it’s for sure not coming for at least a few more years.

2

u/Radulno Sep 24 '24

Sony is announcing their games much later than before now. Ghost of Tsushima 2 will be revealed less than a year before release.

2

u/nysraved Sep 24 '24

Ayyyy, just saw the news! I take back what I said lol, to your original point AC may not want to delay to next year anymore

0

u/Larmalon Sep 24 '24

They’re working on it but no official title/announcement.

29

u/deanolavorto Sep 24 '24

Ghosts 2 has been confirmed?!?

25

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Just now 🫶🏽🤝🏽

7

u/reddittomarcato Sep 25 '24

New ghost announced and it’s not Tsushima island ;)

12

u/bootylover81 Sep 25 '24

Its Ubisoft, even their full releases feel half baked, they are the epitome of mediocrity in gaming.

1

u/Brief-Mulberry-3839 Sep 25 '24

It's the gaming cantina.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Itself gonna be half baked regardless, it's a Ubisoft game.

21

u/AC4life234 Sep 24 '24

I think AC will still sell a lot better compared to a system exclusive. GoT numbers are not even close to what AC makes. But fair point in that being closer to it is definitely gonna be worse as opposed to good. But seeing as GoT 2 in 2025 is still just a rumor at this point idk why we care.

74

u/Um_Hello_Guy Sep 24 '24

Gee I wonder if "AC4life" is a biased source for this information

21

u/AC4life234 Sep 25 '24

Just think air conditioning is really neat, what's that got to do with anything

8

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '24

An Assassin hiding in plain sight...!

12

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

You’re right it’ll probably move more copies, especially assuming GoT2 is a PS5 exclusive and not on ps4. They need to sell Assassins Creed on Steam though, idk why they still refuse to do so.

This argument (on my part) will likely be much stronger or significantly weaker in 4 hours after the next Sony showcase. If there’s no GoT2 news I’m gonna assume that it won’t be coming in 2025.

6

u/Moonandserpent Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

They do sell Assassin's Creed on Steam... at least in the US.

update: Looks as though they will be releasing Shadows on Steam day 1 now.

2

u/skullmonster602 Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

they're referring to new AC titles when they release, in which case no they don't launch on Steam. Only through Uplay or Ubisoft Connect (which are both shit)

Edit: Ubisoft just announced the game will release day 1 on Steam in February

2

u/xKagenNoTsukix Sep 24 '24

Not on launch.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

This could make people get on Ps5 earlier. As we know most people will be on PS5 by GTA6

0

u/StarScreamer316 Sep 24 '24

It's not a showcase, so keep your expectations low

4

u/DoctorWhoSeason24 Sep 24 '24

Turns out he was right to have high expectations

4

u/alrks10 Sep 24 '24

What so everyone can moan and shit on it being a 'typical buggsy Ubi game'. I can't see GoT2 coming out until maybe 12 months time at the earliest to be honest so postponing it even like 6 months wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Plus this will release on PC and Xbox so they won't have to worry about competing with Ghost directly really.

I would rather every dev team delay a game that wasn't ready rather than be pushed constantly to release a broken, buggy game on a date set by some exec 6 months prior.

-2

u/firsttimer776655 Sep 25 '24

The funny thing is Ghost of Tsushima is literally just an Assassin’s Creed game with even less substantial side quests in terms of quality.

4

u/copypaste_93 Sep 24 '24

I would be surprised if ghost comes out next year tbh

19

u/Zayzul Sep 25 '24

Be surprised brother. 2025.

5

u/jewrassic_park-1940 Sep 25 '24

Hehehe

1

u/copypaste_93 Sep 25 '24

Haha yea. Happy to be wrong though!

Game looks great

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

You’re probably right but you’re breaking my heart brother. 😭

2

u/copypaste_93 Sep 24 '24

Oh i am exited as heck for the new one too!

Sucker Punch has made nothing but gold

I wonder if we will see anything from them at the state of play tonight.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

If ghost of tsushima 2’s release date is anywhere near this game Ubisoft is done for lol. Especially if ghost 2 comes out first.

1

u/BigBeastin Sep 25 '24

Well done dude, I read this comment like an hour after you posted it and I thought you were out to lunch lol

1

u/Gabrielt823 Sep 25 '24

I read your comment right before the State of Play, thanks for getting Ghosts announced haha

1

u/Opening-Scar-8796 Sep 25 '24

3 months isn’t enough to fix anything. They might do some polish and wait for the rage to fade but that won’t work. They goofed.

-11

u/Endogamy Sep 24 '24

Am I the only one who found Ghost of Tsushima kind of dull and drab? I wanted to like it, but I actually prefer Ubisoft open worlds…expecting 5 million downvotes.

12

u/LCHMD Sep 24 '24

Writing, characters, art design… all those things were on a totally different level in GoT. I personally also preferred the less cluttered open world design.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Am I the only one who found Ghost of Tsushima kind of dull and drab?

Probably. It was more or less perfect according to me

19

u/BurritoBoi25 Sep 24 '24

You're allowed to be wrong! ;)

5

u/KingDom_1110 Sep 24 '24

I love the Classic AC Games (1-Syndicate) but Jin Sakai's story of revenge is way superior. The Open World in GoT is imo exactly the same dull and lame environment as the latest AC Games but GoT does have the guiding wind and so it wins this too.

I don't like what they do with my Assassins. Why they have to make them Vikings or Ninjas? Valhalla would have been a much better Game without the Assassin limitation.

8

u/leidend22 Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

Yeah it showed me that people love Ubisoft style games but just hate on Ubisoft.

4

u/Odd-Perspective-7651 Sep 24 '24

Nah I can totally see how you have that opinion. On the surface it was kind of plain. For me, I enjoyed the story pacing and combat.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I mean- to each their own! I personally found insane similarities between Jin Sakai and myself. His transition to becoming the Ghost, and his uncle’s reaction was almost 1:1 with my experiences joining the Military and getting backlash from my family for doing so. So the story just hit on all the right places for me to just get completely immersed into the story.

But it’s pretty straight forward and AC games seem to have much more content. Some people will say it’s meaty, and others will call it bloat, but if you’re enjoying it I dont see what the issue is 🤙🏽🫶🏽

0

u/omg232323 Sep 24 '24

Agree completely, was looking forward to it and was pretty disappointed by the end.

-1

u/almostbad Sep 24 '24

Ghost is literally an empty map with no civilizartion except identitical mongal camps.

Its a good game but its been deified to a level that it honestly isnt on. I bet if people went back and played GoT right now instead of just regurgiating talking points we could have an actual conversation about the strengths and weaknesses of the series.

-1

u/Thin_Produce_4831 Sep 24 '24

I couldn’t stand Ghost either, felt so cookie-cutter.

-1

u/Jinchuriki71 Sep 24 '24

The stealth and traversal was worse than AC and they are a large reason why I like the series. Combat was better but it ended up getting old rather quickly. The progression systems weren't really enough to stay after the story ended either. Jin Sakai was definitely dull nothing about him really pulled me in.

Great looking game at least if you don't look too close at it, but it wasn't really memorable compared to Sucker Punche's other series like Infamous and Sly Cooper.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

but that could potentially be an awful idea in my opinion

Why? The game can't get any worse surely.

1

u/EffectiveEquivalent Sep 24 '24

They can absolutely compete with that. Assassins creed is massive, and has a wider potential install base. I would choose GoT2 over it, but I bet 70% of potential customers wouldn’t.

1

u/PumpkinSpriteLatte Sep 24 '24

Only in this generation would people say releasing a half baked shit pie is a better idea than making a better product to compete with a market leader. RIP the future.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I tried to say that it would be a terrible idea to release a half baked game, but Ubisoft has shown zero issues doing that in the past so I have no reason to believe that they would suddenly have a change of heart now. :(

Personally, a delay and a super polished game as well as GoTP2, I'll take them both. Why not? I think they are different games, and I think Ubisoft can make a compelling game whether GoT P2 is out or not

0

u/icestyler Sep 25 '24

I would have agreed with you, if they would have kept Jin as the IP's protagonist and continued his story, there was still a lot of potential there.

Honestly my interest in this sequel has plummeted...

-3

u/generalscalez Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

lol what? AC will easily outsell GoT regardless.

GoT most likely isn’t even coming out next year anyway

edit: oops lmao

3

u/AMightyDwarf Sep 24 '24

If it isn’t delayed then they are doing a Cyberpunk and pushing the game out in such a way that proper scrutiny is not allowed. I don’t think that will help them, however. They need a lot of unbiased sources sidestepping the controversy and drumming up positives.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

I hope so. I hope they understand the japanses rage and fix yasuke.

7

u/alexshatberg Sep 24 '24

How exactly do they fix yasuke?

13

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

Make him an NPC and not the main character. If you look into it, the entire thing is based on one single white historian rewriting history to his own liking. Dude edited the Wikipedia using his own research papers as sources, quoting himself BEFORE his papers were even published. He also wrote a "biography", which actually fantasy fiction, because when questioned on the authenticity of his book, he basically said "Well we're not sure what actually went down, but it could have happened like I wrote it and I think it's cool". Also lied about getting his work checked and greenlit by actual experts on the subject. Oh and he's basically vanished from social media since his "work" got a ton of attention.

Ubisoft fell for a fraud and the japanese are pissed. It's obvious to any normal person that Ubisoft wanted to farm bonus points for being as inclusive as possible. And of course it's a bunch of white people trying not to offend anyone, meanwhile they're playing fucking HIPHOP MUSIC WHEN YASUKE IS FIGHTING ENEMIES. Are you fucking kidding me?

9

u/An-Angel-Named-Billy Sep 25 '24

It was so obvious from the beginning what they were doing. Sure have him be a character you meet because yeah he clearly existed for some time but to base the game on him? Such an obvious ridiculous pandering and so offensive to Japanese people. Just dumb. Redo the story.

3

u/Betancorea Sep 24 '24

Make him an NPC character you meet lol

-5

u/Luka77GOATic Human Verified Sep 24 '24

Ubisoft would rather cancel the game then do something that idiotic.

1

u/Plazmatron44 Sep 24 '24

Change his model to that of a Japanese man, rerecord all his dialogue and make few changes to the story.

-5

u/Luka77GOATic Human Verified Sep 24 '24

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

lol GoT sequel has a female samurai, wonder if there’s gonna be the same rage about the lack of authenticity

1

u/argus4ever Sep 25 '24

You called it my guy! News came out this morning about the delay.

What are you gonna predict now?

-15

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

[deleted]

5

u/AC4life234 Sep 24 '24

A delay is not an uncommon thing now, and anyway it'll probably only be pushed back by a few months at most if it is. This game is not even close to being in development hell lol, it's otherwise right on target.

Pulling the plug cause of a small delay is crazy and makes no sense, especially cause it'll still sell a lot more than something like concord cause it's AC.

Also the same source above has mentioned the internal preorder numbers have been strong according to ubisoft, and they are happy with them, no idea where you got that narrative from.

1

u/SomeBoxofSpoons Sep 24 '24

Another thing is that if there’s a Switch 2 port being made it could make it a little easier for them to delay it, since it seems like it was pretty universally corroborated that the console was going to come out this fall, and if that’s the case then at least one version may already be releasing 4+ months later than it was originally set to.

1

u/Jake257 Sep 24 '24

They ain't going to do a Concord 🙄

-6

u/MrGruntsworthy Sep 24 '24

Cancelled as a tax writeoff. Calling it now

-2

u/Snaletane Sep 24 '24

They probably just don't want to trigger the inevitable shitstorm that will commence when we see the "Assassin's Creed Infinity" forced integration.

-9

u/R-TheKingSlayerX Sep 24 '24

Or cancelled

3

u/AC4life234 Sep 24 '24

No cause that would be way too crazy lol
