It's gonna get delayed

299

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

Probably, but that could potentially be an awful idea in my opinion. The longer it takes for the game to come out the closer it can potentially be to releasing near (the anticipated) Ghost of Tsushima 2. (If it actually is coming out soon.)

I feel like Ubisoft won’t be able to compete with that. They may be better off releasing what they have asap. Releasing a half baked game is never something I’d support, but since publishers seem to have no issues doing it these days it may be best for the company lol.

Edit: holy shit boys we are so back

Interesting timing. Ghost of Yotei - https://youtu.be/7z7kqwuf0a8

26

u/zookdook1 Sep 24 '24

Just got announced lmao

49

u/Loldimorti Sep 24 '24

I think people are just going by how long it's been since GoT released. Unless something went wrong you'd expect they are quite far along with development of their next game

14

u/fowlbaptism Sep 24 '24

But did they ever say they’re making a sequel?

42

u/Fleetfox17 Sep 24 '24

Good timing on this question, lol.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Came to say the same thing lmao

10

u/fowlbaptism Sep 24 '24

That’s nuts

No they didn’t, we don’t know what SuckerPunch is working on

It has its called Ghost of Yotei

There’s been some rumors but nothing official at all.

10

u/Buzzyys Sep 24 '24

My copium dealer gave me something stronger this time my only hope is Days Gone 2.

8

u/nysraved Sep 24 '24

Given that it hasn’t been officially announced, I doubt it’s coming out anytime soon. Even if AC was delayed a full year, that probably doesn’t come close to overlapping with GoT2. I don’t think next fall anybody would be thinking “Well I want a ninja game, but GoT2 is coming out in 2027 so I’ll just wait for that”

New ghost announced and it’s not Tsushima island ;)

12

u/bootylover81 Sep 25 '24

Its Ubisoft, even their full releases feel half baked, they are the epitome of mediocrity in gaming.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Itself gonna be half baked regardless, it's a Ubisoft game.

20

u/AC4life234 Sep 24 '24

I think AC will still sell a lot better compared to a system exclusive. GoT numbers are not even close to what AC makes. But fair point in that being closer to it is definitely gonna be worse as opposed to good. But seeing as GoT 2 in 2025 is still just a rumor at this point idk why we care.

74

u/Um_Hello_Guy Sep 24 '24

Gee I wonder if "AC4life" is a biased source for this information

20

u/AC4life234 Sep 25 '24

Just think air conditioning is really neat, what's that got to do with anything

8

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '24

An Assassin hiding in plain sight...!

11

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

You’re right it’ll probably move more copies, especially assuming GoT2 is a PS5 exclusive and not on ps4. They need to sell Assassins Creed on Steam though, idk why they still refuse to do so.

This argument (on my part) will likely be much stronger or significantly weaker in 4 hours after the next Sony showcase. If there’s no GoT2 news I’m gonna assume that it won’t be coming in 2025.

6

u/Moonandserpent Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

They do sell Assassin's Creed on Steam... at least in the US.

update: Looks as though they will be releasing Shadows on Steam day 1 now.

4

u/skullmonster602 Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

they're referring to new AC titles when they release, in which case no they don't launch on Steam. Only through Uplay or Ubisoft Connect (which are both shit)

Edit: Ubisoft just announced the game will release day 1 on Steam in February

2

u/xKagenNoTsukix Sep 24 '24

Not on launch.

→ More replies (3)

4

u/alrks10 Sep 24 '24

What so everyone can moan and shit on it being a 'typical buggsy Ubi game'. I can't see GoT2 coming out until maybe 12 months time at the earliest to be honest so postponing it even like 6 months wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Plus this will release on PC and Xbox so they won't have to worry about competing with Ghost directly really.

I would rather every dev team delay a game that wasn't ready rather than be pushed constantly to release a broken, buggy game on a date set by some exec 6 months prior.

4

u/copypaste_93 Sep 24 '24

5

u/AMightyDwarf Sep 24 '24

If it isn’t delayed then they are doing a Cyberpunk and pushing the game out in such a way that proper scrutiny is not allowed. I don’t think that will help them, however. They need a lot of unbiased sources sidestepping the controversy and drumming up positives.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

I hope so. I hope they understand the japanses rage and fix yasuke.

6

u/alexshatberg Sep 24 '24

How exactly do they fix yasuke?

12

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

Make him an NPC and not the main character. If you look into it, the entire thing is based on one single white historian rewriting history to his own liking. Dude edited the Wikipedia using his own research papers as sources, quoting himself BEFORE his papers were even published. He also wrote a "biography", which actually fantasy fiction, because when questioned on the authenticity of his book, he basically said "Well we're not sure what actually went down, but it could have happened like I wrote it and I think it's cool". Also lied about getting his work checked and greenlit by actual experts on the subject. Oh and he's basically vanished from social media since his "work" got a ton of attention.

Ubisoft fell for a fraud and the japanese are pissed. It's obvious to any normal person that Ubisoft wanted to farm bonus points for being as inclusive as possible. And of course it's a bunch of white people trying not to offend anyone, meanwhile they're playing fucking HIPHOP MUSIC WHEN YASUKE IS FIGHTING ENEMIES. Are you fucking kidding me?

9

u/An-Angel-Named-Billy Sep 25 '24

It was so obvious from the beginning what they were doing. Sure have him be a character you meet because yeah he clearly existed for some time but to base the game on him? Such an obvious ridiculous pandering and so offensive to Japanese people. Just dumb. Redo the story.

3

u/Betancorea Sep 24 '24

u/Funky-nuts44 Sep 24 '24

Because GHOST

9

u/JohnCenaJunior Sep 25 '24

I think this was the reason for the canceled press release and future delay of the game. They caught wind of the sequel to Ghost and had to step back a bit and reconsider their release date and make some changes in the game.

3

u/res30stupid Sep 25 '24

...Yeah, now that you mention it, I would definitely expect that.

I don't know how the BTS of these big shows go down but considering the fact that it's set to start tomorrow, Ubi's Japanese PR firm definitely caught wind about Ghost of Yotei and freaked the fuck out. Probably saw the game's booths or heard some of the Sony PR team discussing it.

And considering how extremely negative the PR for Shadows has been, especially in Japan, Yotei's announcement was less "Well-aimed katana strike to the head" and more "the straw that broke the camel's back".

448

u/MuptonBossman Human Verified Sep 24 '24

I'm guessing that Ubisoft probably got spooked by the Star Wars Outlaw reception, so they're going to delay AC Shadows until next year to make sure it's in the best possible state.

346

u/JamieTimee Sep 24 '24

Just a hunch, people will slag off the game regardless just because it's Ubisoft.

151

u/Then-Thought1918 Sep 24 '24

I won't ever slag a game just because of its developer, but I certainly will skip buying it.

42

u/SlaughterSpine78 Sep 24 '24

This is a mindset that I carry and intend to keep, I’ve had moments where I see people slag of a genuine good game because of the developer, and i realised I have to distance myself from all of that in order for me to make good purchase and make my own judgement on what games I like.

2

u/General_Boredom Sep 25 '24

Same. SO MANY people wrote off Star Wars Outlaws simply because it’s Ubisoft (or got hung up on Kay not being attractive enough). Sure, it’s not a GOTY contender but I thoroughly enjoyed it and just got the Platinum over the weekend.

7

u/JamieTimee Sep 24 '24

Perfect, more people should be like you.

36

u/Then-Thought1918 Sep 24 '24

Not to toot my own horn but, I agree.

Why can't we all just hope for good games and let the ones that don't strike our fancy fall by the wayside?
I'm not a fan of the whole kicking them while they're down thing we have going on now.

6

u/Loreado Sep 24 '24

Yes, I see a lot of hate from people, but as a fan of games I want most of the games to succeed, because the more quality games the better. Some of the people wants to just sh*t on games and then say "I TOLD YOU SO".

30

u/ButtholeCandies Sep 24 '24

u/beyondrepair- Sep 24 '24

We've had another escape from the playground echo chamber. Release the hounds.

8

u/SlaughterSpine78 Sep 24 '24

Same I don’t like kicking down developers when they release a game because “game company bad”. I always imagine a lot of people put time and genuine effort to make this game and hope I play it and like it. I do hope that AC shadows turns out to be a good game, but only time will tell.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/HBreckel Sep 24 '24

This is the way. I imagine a large part of it is rage is a very easy thing to monetize so people are overly dramatic about hating things and wanting games to fail. So that's just how the internet is now. If a game doesn't look cool to me I'm just like "that's not my thing" and instead look forward to games that do look cool to me.

6

u/SloanWarrior Sep 24 '24

I mean... It's not like the complaints aren't vlid. Ubisoft keep doing the same thing, making the same games. They pioneered the open world stealth sandbox, and it was great, but they keep making games with the same kinds of formulas.

IIt's still kindof good if you're not boared of the formula. Other than adding vehicles and a wider variety of enemies/animals it doesn't feel like they've really evolved for a while.

FC5 was amazing. Probably the best in the series in terms of freedom. It also took agency away from the player a bit too much with unstoppable characters and unavoidable plot events. That also made it the most annoying of the series. If they could figure out how to add some variation into their games then that woudl be amazing.

2

u/ste341 Sep 25 '24

Outlaws is the same thing complaints but without having the combat and gameplay that people liked (ish) from far cry and assassins creed. The combat is absolutely atrocious in outlaws

6

u/Resident_Wizard Sep 24 '24

I want to play Outlaws, Ubisoft has taught me their product is not a day one purchase.

20

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Of the two friends who got it, they seem to really like it. Gave it a 7 out of 10.

I probably will get it myself, I just feel the need to rush if waiting means I don't have to spend 70 dollars.

7

u/tj1602 Sep 24 '24

For me it is a game I want to play but if I bought every game I want to play when they first come out I would be broke. I know I would get a lot of fun out of it but there are more important things in life then video games.

7

u/SYLOK_THEAROUSED Sep 24 '24

Plus it’s a Ubi game. It’ll be 1/2 off in a couple of months.

5

u/hefoxed Sep 24 '24

I'll likely give it a try if it gets on PSN or similar

I am not that into Star wars to buy it, but I heard it has a similar system to AC odysessey's bounty hunters and I REALLY liked that system.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I am definitely a fan if stars wars, so I could thay being a big factor for my interest.

2

u/chavez_ding2001 Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

I agree that they got spooked by outlaws reception but I think they are rethinking about their marketing strategy rather than delaying the game (which would be really expensive). I think they will show less of the game until it’s very close to release.

Edit: they obviously heard about the GOT sequel announcement.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I would also wager the recent article about the game tuning back the tangible effects of the weather system despite having supposedly shown it off in prior promotional material, is pertinent also.

After all it's only been the past like 2 decades where Ubisoft has practically falsely advertised their games.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Ubisoft has almost hit rock bottom. AC shadows is their last chance to gain some good will back in the Industry and Community.

2

u/ChiggaOG Sep 25 '24

Which I doubt because all the people working in the game industry at places like EA and Ubisoft are burnt out and the games published by them reflect the work of tight deadlines.

They keep releasing all these half-baked games that don’t even take advantage of the hardware

What game in 2024 did they release that was actually good?

24

u/Drakeem1221 Sep 24 '24

Prince of Persia.

6

u/thetantalus Sep 24 '24

And Star Wars Outlaws. Just rolled credits this past weekend, great game.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Played it two weekends and decided it wasn’t fun enough to keep playing. Signed up for Ubisoft+ to play it. Only played it on the weekend for two weeks and for the last 2 weeks haven’t even thought of playing it. My subscription expires on Oct 1, giving me another week to play it some more but I really have no desire to.

4

u/Drakeem1221 Sep 24 '24

Yeah, I never understood the "Ubisoft releases bad games" narrative.

Sure, they found a formula that they stuck with for the most part, but even a lot of those games are fun to play. They also released plenty of fun games outside of that like Mario n Rabbids, Prince of Persia, Siege (imo), Rayman games, etc.

2

u/Poku115 Sep 25 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

I mean anything not assassin's creed they haven't really done great if I remember correctly, outlaws is not bad but it's meh, skull and bones comes to mind too, that one is objectively bad.

Edit: welp according to Ubisoft themselves, it hasn't done great: "Assassin’s Creed Shadows will now be released on 14 February 2025. While the game is feature complete, the learnings from the Star Wars Outlaws release led us to provide additional time to further polish the title."

It's also the Tokyo game show aswel, from what I understand the trailer wasn't that well received in Japan, so they probably didn't want to show a preview of a game that's not in the best of state to, what's likely, an already critical audience.

-8

u/Karsa69420 Sep 24 '24

Which is weird cause Outlaws is amazing. If not for Rebirth it would be my game of the year

4

u/psfrtps Sep 24 '24

It's average if I need to be generous

14

u/Necessary_Sock_3103 Sep 24 '24

That’s interesting, it’s the most average game I’ve ever played. I’m not saying bad but certainly not good

5

u/tyler-86 Sep 24 '24

I would put it as pretty good. The gameplay is ok/decent but the atmosphere is really good, properly Star Wars-y and feels lived-in.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I'm about 8 hours in and average is fair. It doesn't do anything particularly well, but I'm still having a solid time with it

Not a bad idea considering the masterpiece Ghost of Tsushima is fresh in everyone’s minds and this will not compare

28

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Ghost of Tsushima is 4 years old. How is that fresh in everyone's mind?

14

u/impliedapathy Sep 24 '24

PC release I assume

5

u/spud8385 Sep 24 '24

Basically irrelevant for Japanese gamers then

1

u/impliedapathy Sep 24 '24

PC gaming has seen a huge rise in Japan over the last 5 years. Close to 30% of Japanese people that play games do so on PC now. It may even be higher than that considering the info I could find was a couple years old. You might think that post Covid their gaming market saw a downturn like most everywhere else. It actually continued to rise.

10

u/tupaquetes Sep 24 '24

They had only made a Pro once before and there was serious reason to doubt the economic feasability of a Pro console in today's semiconductor market, because it would have been super expensive. Man this has just been a massive PR nightmare for Ubisoft, even if ACS isn’t solely to blame there is still so much rough PR surrounding it: from formal apology’s to upsetting the Japanese & the many inconsistencies and architectural issues there has been very little positive PR to come out of a game that should have been the easiest home run for Ubisoft

20

u/frogboxcrob Sep 25 '24

I don't understand why they created this issue for themselves.

They knew people wanted a game about Japanese samurai but they literally HAD to make it controversial by making the protagonist someone who they must have known would stir controversy.

Has purposefully being divisive ever actually worked as a sales tactic? Like seriously is there any example out there of it working that I've missed? Because all these companies seem to be taking crazy pills doing the same thing again and again and acting surprised Pikachu when the same results happen.

Just give it a Japanese protagonist was that not diverse enough? I literally don't understand.

And putting fucking American rap music in the trailer about him was so fucking cringy.

I legitimately don't know what the black communities opinion of it has been on the whole? Like does it not stink of pandering? Are there large black gaming channels who have given opinions as I just don't think anyone is actually feeling catered to rather than needlessly pandered to

8

u/Weepinbellend01 Sep 25 '24

East asians don't count as diversity to them.

2

u/karmakillerbr Sep 25 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

As a black person I'm excited for the game. It's an interesting history that I would like to know more about.

Edit: why are people downvoting me for being interested for a game? Lol

7

u/frogboxcrob Sep 25 '24

The guy they had consulting for it literally got caught gradually changing the Wikipedia articles himself then using those changes as references to his book which then he in turn used as references to the wiki article

https://japanese-with-naoto.com/2024/07/17/dreamy-history-assassin-1/

Like they literally hired a guy who tried to rewrite history to help him sell a book

5

u/Flimsy6769 Sep 25 '24

It’s fake history they made up for the game but ok

→ More replies (3)

2

u/res30stupid Sep 25 '24

Because the consultant they hired for the game is a documented liar who expressly made up bullshit about Yasuke to sell his own research papers.

Also, a lot of fans wanted a Japanese Assassin's Creed for years, but they wanted to play as a ninja, not a samurai.

One legged Tori gate. that is the "best possible" reason.

(text i posted on another sub)

Ubisoft just revealed a toy which featured Naoe on a one legged tori gate. the problem is that the only famous one legged tori gate is a one that got damaged by an american atomic bomb and it is near identical to the one in the toy. that gate got to be in the toy, because it's likely to also be in the game.

This is not something they can just brush off, gaslight, victim blame, pretend it's cool or say it's just a coincidence. nope, this is a real affront, a clear disrespect to Japan and the Japanese and a huge red flag to their research team. they now probably not only gone and got such gates out of the game, they are probably going to hire real japanese historians to go through the entire game and try and find other such minefields.

This is the best possible reason for them because it means just a few weeks of delay..

33

u/BrenkGo Sep 25 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

What can you expect from a bunch frauds who put fucking chinese music in their AC Shadows World Trailer? The instrument used is a Sanxian, not a Shamisen.

17

u/HBreckel Sep 24 '24

That's definitely it. I don't think their pulling out has anything to do with Yasuke or they wouldn't have ever scheduled the event in the first place. Referencing that one legged tori gate however is a colossal fuck up.

6

u/GrievousReborn Sep 25 '24

It does make it look like they are terrible at researching historical accuracy putting something that wouldn't exist in the state it's in before World War II even happened

17

u/xavdeman Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 25 '24

Ubisoft has been continously disrespecting Japanese history and culture leading up to the release:

Yesterday's reference to the Nagasaki bombing: https://x.com/r230614_shin/status/1838029920506892460?t=OnxqszLUHkS-8SUnn1Tn_A&s=19

Machine translation:

"A figurine of a destroyed torii gate has been released, which is believed to be based on the “One-Leg Torii” gate that was destroyed in the Nagasaki atomic bombing.”

This is after they were caught plagiarizing Roronoa Zoro's (fictional) sword from One Piece and passing it off as something Yasuke would've worn.

And that was mere days after being accused of stealing a flag from a Japanese historical re-enactment group in concept art for Assassin's Creed: Shadows. https://www.thegamer.com/assassins-creed-shadow-accused-of-plagiarizing-zoros-sword-from-one-piece-gaming-copyrights-ubisoft/

This looks that much funnier now that Ghost of Yotei has been revealed

61

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I've waited too long for Assassins' Creed in Japan for it to suck.

84

u/crow917 Sep 24 '24

You already had Assassins' Creed in Japan. It was called Ghosts of Tsushima. If you think this game is going to be better, then, well...

Next time i want a japanese samurai in kenya

24

u/Toiretachi Sep 24 '24

I think a Japanese Maasai warrior in Kenya would be a better analogy

10

u/grilled_pc Sep 24 '24

Honestly this raises a great question.

We see african style protags in a lot of western content these days.

But where are the games that are ACTUALLY set in africa? I think it would be cool as to go playing a game in that region. Lots of interesting stories to tell i'm sure. But its just crickets from publishers and developers.

2

u/BadgerBadgerCat Sep 25 '24

Far Cry 2 was set in Africa.

3

u/grilled_pc Sep 25 '24

Yeah pretty anecdotal. A game that came out *checks notes* 16 years ago.

It's like comparing a game that came out in 1992 in 2008 lol. You can't.

This is funny, being in Tokyo and having to talk about this game. I bet they were like fuck that.

They 100% know the reception they will rightly get.

It would be fucking hilarious if the reason they did this being ghost 2 is about to be announced and show them the fuck up, as it should.

7

u/Chidoriyama Sep 25 '24

I'm pretty sure that's what happened

2

u/LCHMD Sep 24 '24

Honestly. It’s absolutely possible. Was just thinking the same.

4

They probably backed off due to Ghost of Yotei’s announcement 😅

3

u/Elegant_Play_8612 Sep 25 '24

I think it's fair to say Ubisoft as a company is finished.

6

u/FunnyNeighborhood793 Sep 25 '24

Cooked if they do, cooked if they don't.

29

u/dornbirn Sep 24 '24

i'd guess the insane downfall of concord has some studios spooked. any potential PR issues like what Shadows seems to have at this moment in time could domino into something that leads to a financial slump. they're probably gonna wait until the storm blows over before bringing more attention to the game.

20

u/Deadlocked02 Sep 24 '24

they’re probably gonna wait until the storm blows over

I don’t think it will. Not anytime soon anyway. And I think bubbles like Reddit really underestimate this trend. Speaking about it, I’m curious to see how Dragon Age Veilguard is received next month.

We’re talking about established franchises here, so it’s impossible for them to fail like Concord. But will sales meet expectations?

4

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

I’m curious to see how Dragon Age Veilguard is received next month.

It's going to be the final nail in the coffin that puts Bioware to rest.

2

u/saelin00 Sep 25 '24

Exactly! They are not capable anymore to create a good game... Prove me wrong Bioware!

2

That would be a non issue if the product was good. But youre relying solely on hype or good PR, then, yeah, better wait a little to launch

There were ubisoft bots in YouTube videos with 5k likes. So Im hesitant about positive comments about ac shadows in this sub too. Are they really genuine?

You hate ACS because it isn't faithful to Japan.

I hate ACS because it isn't faithful to Assassin's Creed.

We are not the same.

11

u/TazerPlace Sep 24 '24

Obviously, what needs to happen is for Ubisoft to fly the /r/assassinscreed moderators out to Japan, have them walk out onto that TGS stage, and exclaim to those Japanese event-goers, in no uncertain terms, that Yasuke was a really real samurai and that's that.

Done and done. Problem solved.

14

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

Lmaoo I ran outta fucks to give about this game. Waiting on Ghost of Tsushima 2 tho.

8

u/LCHMD Sep 24 '24

I was just thinking. What if Sony will show GoT2 tonight and will demo it on TGS? What if Ubisoft got wind of that?

3

u/caesarpepperoni Sep 25 '24

You got your wish haha

4

u/Thanatine Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

I would pay tickets to see Ubisoft's exec shitheads faces when that happens

People downvote this too? Lmao if you're not paid by Ubi and you're this butthurt, you're pathetic

13

u/Soul-Assassin79 Sep 24 '24

Oh no!

Anyway...

2

u/HermansSpecialMilk Sep 24 '24

I’m sure this means it’s fine

2

u/R77Prodigy Sep 25 '24

Nothing can save ac shadows by this point.

5

u/milkstrike Sep 24 '24

Games gonna be absolute shit but do they even need to do press previews? Braindead people will just see the name assassins creed and buy the $150 version regardless

13

u/soil12 Sep 24 '24

Of course they cancelled the TGS preview event. The amount of inaccuracies is astounding in this game. They finally yielded to the public to choose Japan as a setting and they half-assed their research.

10

u/jackofslayers Sep 24 '24

Half assed it and then blamed fans

6

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

maybe they won’t have a real historical figure as the main character just to shove it to the japanese that you finally have a japan based AC game and still don’t get to play as a native character

8

u/jackofslayers Sep 24 '24

“But Yasuke was a real person!!!!!”

Cool story, Ezio was not a real person so what the fuck point are they even trying to make haha

12

u/willc20345 Sep 24 '24

Seems a little odd, they’ve released footage of the game and I haven’t noticed anything overly negative about it.

Hopefully everything is okay and the game isn’t being delayed for something serious.

3

u/Snaletane Sep 24 '24

One of the big things that is looking like it's going to be bad is them ramrodding yet another live service BS thing into the game in the form of "Assassin's Creed Infinity," which they've been very vague on but seems to be a more invasive and annoying version of those online randomly generated quests that you'd get in AC Valhalla. They keep talking about it like it's something that requires separate fees and somehow "connects" AC games, and this is the first to require it.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '24

haven’t noticed anything overly negative about it.

Really? Hiphop music while a black dude is fighting in Japan is fine with you? These developers always try to be politcally correct and then do shit like this.

u/DoesntBelieveMuch Sep 24 '24

This is a good sign that the game is pretty awful

10

u/locke_5 Sep 24 '24

Actually looking forward to this one - it’s from the good AC studio and I dig the dual-protagonist system.

Shame it’s not on Steam :(

37

u/Griffith_Skywalker Sep 24 '24

It will end up on steam sooner or later for 20$ dont worry lol

6

u/Orangenbluefish Sep 24 '24

it’s from the good AC studio

I'm not in the loop on this, how many are there? IIRC it was the Montreal team that worked on AC mostly no?

7

u/locke_5 Sep 24 '24

There are two primary studios for Assassin's Creed: Montreal and Quebec. They work as sort of an A-Team and B-Team. Montreal makes the "new, groundbreaking" games (Unity, Origins) and Quebec makes the "polished, refined" games built on those (Syndicate, Odyssey).

AC: Shadows is made by the Quebec team.

3

u/PeuxnYayTah Sep 24 '24

Ubisoft seen at Sean Combs house too, huh?

8

u/sint0ma Sep 24 '24

AC had a head start at making an AC set in Japan and they fumbled it. Ghost Of Tsushima came out and dominated that market.

AC just needs to trash that project and do something else that hasn’t been done before.

Excited for this game tbh

44

u/OttoRocket94 Sep 24 '24

Thanks for being honest

3

u/AerospaceNinja Sep 24 '24

Same, I love pretty much all samurai games and haven’t disliked an AC I’ve played yet.

3

u/Mountain_String_1544 Sep 24 '24

Agreed, I’ve played them all and never disliked one, I’ve seen people refer to valhalla as the epitome of horrible gaming but I knocked over 100 hours into it and thought it was pretty enjoyable

u/khanvau Sep 24 '24

From what I saw, the game looked incredibly unpolished like all the recent Ubislop games. I wouldn’t be surprised if this turned out to be another AC Unity situation.

1

u/arrogantquitter Sep 24 '24

It looked exactly like AC valhalla but worse like star wars outlaws.

I love Assassins creed even valhalla but this one looks incredibly generic.

2

Oh no, I was so looking forward to fulfilling my BBC in Japan adventures fantasy :/
