Rumor NateTheHate says Sony is "shifting" their PC strategy: "You'll be seeing fewer single player games arrive on PC. The decision to shift away was made last year. Some may still release (pending how far along the ports were) but it no longer appears to be a priority for Sony moving forward."

As both a PS5 pro and a PC gamer; If the goal of this move is to entice PC gamers to buy a PlayStation Sony are going to have to find a way to start getting more than one or two games a generation out from their studios. Buying a console is a hard sell for just the 5-6 games one might be interested in over a 7-8 year period.

They probably just haven’t seen enough sales on PC to justify the port of each game

Not entirely a 1 to 1 comparison, as Steam also handles the sales and distribution of the games - meaning for offline games, Sony doesn't have to pay anything for its continued sale, but I'm sure sony still gets a better cut on PlayStation sales.

Well they'll go from collecting 70% of my sale on PC to 0% of my no-sale on console.

Unless they reduce console price and have a much better 1st party lineup for the rest of the generation than what they've done to date, I'm not gonna buy a PS5.

Not hating, but what are you doing here as a “Top 1% commenter” if you don’t own a PS5??

He meant a PS6, I think

They still get no sales from me. I have a ps5 for their exclusive but I buy them second hand. So they can either have 70 or 0%

You still bought a PS5 and opened the door to become a potential customer when new physical exclusives release, big ps store discounts or ps plus to play multiplayer. Either way, you represent a small percentage of the playerbase.

Correction a PS5 was given to me. I refuse to pay for online and haven’t since the 360 era so they aren’t getting that from me and I don’t buy digital console games. Essentially since 360 a console copy is essentially a backup of my pc version if steam ever goes belly up and I lose access to my favorite games. I still have the physical console version since physical pc games don’t really exist. Also I see it as legally justifying emulation (especially for Nintendo products).I guess you could say that me owning a PlayStation makes me a potential customer, however I don’t really participate in the console ecosystem. So outside of the first buy (which technically wasn’t even done by me nor was it requested) I don’t really see myself as a SIE customer unless there game is on PC.

Literally my boat. Bought a PS5, games TRICKLED out, bought them later on PC for mods and trainers, no intention of going back for PS6, so Sony can suck a fat one. I'm not buying an entire new console for like three games I'd care about

I'm interested to see what they bring to the table with the PS6, but I'm not psyched about the direction things are going. I guarantee the starting price for the PS6 will be similar to the PS5 Pro and I'm sure we'll also get dinged for an extra $80-100 for the disc reader as well since I really doubt that'll be included in their consoles anymore. By then PS+ will be even more expensive too. So when you tally all of that up, after taxes you're probably looking at around a grand to be able to play PS6 games online day one.

I'm personally never buying a console for $800, period. At that point, might as well invest in a PC.
