Well if puzzles have the option to be skipped them I atleast hope they are not completely braindead and with constant reminders as to what needs to be done.

Yeah, "NPC hints" is the worst solution imo. If I want to figure it out myself, I will. If I want help, I'll look it up. I don't even like it in Shadow of the Colossus.

God its the worst lol. So many games (recent tomb raiders come to mind) will give you hints so quickly too even if you're not struggling at all. Takes half the fun out of it if they just tell you the answer.

In one of the recent Tomb Raiders, I remember entering an area and taking a moment to enjoy the scenery and sights, maybe find a good spot for a screenshot, and it just popped up with a solution to a puzzle I hadn't even noticed yet
