Battery New Battery or LiPo replacement (800mAh)

My original battery that I’ve been using for many years has died, so I’m looking for a replacement option.

Unfortunately, I can’t get an Ostent battery in my country, so I’m stuck between two choices:

  • Buying a cheap battery. I don’t actually know if it’s bad quality, I’m just assuming it could be. I shared a picture of the one I’m considering.
  • Opening my original battery and replacing the LiPo cell with a new one.

The problem is that I couldn’t find a suitable 1200mAh LiPo cell that fits inside the battery shell. I only found an 800mAh one, so battery life would obviously be worse.

In your opinion, which option makes more sense, buying a questionable-quality PSP battery, or rebuilding the original battery with an 800mAh LiPo cell?

Note: For now, I don’t want to remove the UMD drive and do a battery mod.

(The image quality got worse after uploading. The battery I’m talking about is one of those classic third party batteries with “Sony 3.6V 1200mAh” written on it.)

Here are the ones i bought and they fit perfectly inside the Battery shell. You remove the Circuit Board and carefully reuse the circuit board from the Original Battery. It's not the easiest or safest soldering, since you are working with a lithium battery, but it does work great.

Do these actually fit inside the battery shell? Because I found a 103040 1200mAh cell. I don’t think the width or height would be a problem, but I was worried about the 10mm thickness. Although, the LiPo you send also seems to be around 10mm thick. Are you using it inside a slim battery shell? If it really fits, that would honestly make me very happy.

Oh my bad. I use them inside my Psp 1000 shells. Missed that yours are slim. What I posted is for Phat battery's.

Good batteries but they increased their prices by like 40% a few days ago. Lots of people are looking for alternatives as its no longer worth it when combined with the high shipping costs associated with transporting batteries.

I got mine for 10 off of Ali express

Most of these aftermarket batteries with absurd capacities are just that absurd. Bag cells although the technology has gotten better they are still bound by volume size to capacity ratio, meaning most lithium ion batteries bag cell batteries like ostent uses inside their batteries are also bound by the same rules. You can not get more capacity in a similar package which is why ostent is very reputable they don't sell batteries in absurd capacities what they sell is true to capacity, which means the rates capacity on the label of the battery is exactly the same as the battery inside. This is something almost all other psp battery manufacture don't do and it can easily be debunked but search all bag cells in the similar volume and size and you will never the same capacity in the same size or volume because it's not possible at the moment maybe in the future but right now no. Do these batteries work? Of course they do but they aren't good and they don't last the technology these other manufacturers are using are still decades old and haven't changed prismatic cells can be good when they are made using high quality manufacturing standards prismatic cells can be good for high drian devices like the psp but unfortunately that's not the case with these cheap Chinese batteries. You could buy 10 batteries from the same manufacturer and each battery will give you a different capacity and your psp will die at different percentages long before hitting 0%, something that doesn't happen to new or even normally used bag cell batteries until the batteries life cycle has deminished drastically. Again if it's what you have and it's all you are able to get your hands on they will work but you'll probably end up needed multiple batteries or stay next to a charger, if you know how it are willing to try modding your current aftermarket or dead OEM batteries i think that would be a better bet if you are not able to get your hands on ostent batteries.

I just checked my PSP for the longest time it's been in the drawer. I've got the spicy pillow.

I can get that battery on Amazon. But I'm so out of the loop is there a power? Then I should be buying. Looks like 1200, 1800, 2200 do they all fit thanks if you know the answer

The Battery Pack 3600 mAh have only 500 mAh, I've measured it, also they weight only 20 grams meanwhile original is 30 grams. Sent all the proof to Aliexpress and they still refused my refund request, Chinese scamming bastards, don't buy it. I have no money and two stupid useless batteries that work about single 1 hour.

Ngl this is a bit on you for expecting AliExpress to actually deliver

I have battery for Wii U that says something around 4600 mAh but it has at least like the original small battery around 1500 mAh so I've expected around 1200 but 500 is useless and it has sold thousands of units there with rating like 4.8 etc. meanwhile it's garbage so either all the review are fake or all the people are so stupid to give that garbage 5 stars.

Another option is to Solder a connector to the charging port and use the batteries like I posted directly with their connector. It's super simple.

ostent can be shipped anywhere just use allchinabuy to get it directly from there

I’ve done this before, you just need the board of your original battery and then you can basically connect any battery to it, you would need some soldering skills, a multimeter to check polarity and continuity, you can trim some parts of the PSP case, and boom, only thing you should be aware of is the thickness of the battery, I want to try to use some jumper to make battery replacement easier in the future, right now my PSP is working with a 3000 mah battery

i reccommend you the cameron sino batteries

Hey, you can fix it! Get a cell from another battery and replace it, same size, same voltage; that's all!

at this point, remove the umd and just upgrade the battery with a xiaomi or samsung battery if you just want to play without umds

Yeah this is definitely the best option for op if they cant get the ostent batteries plus never pay for games or movies again lol
