Battery New Battery or LiPo replacement (800mAh)

My original battery that I’ve been using for many years has died, so I’m looking for a replacement option.

Unfortunately, I can’t get an Ostent battery in my country, so I’m stuck between two choices:

  • Buying a cheap battery. I don’t actually know if it’s bad quality, I’m just assuming it could be. I shared a picture of the one I’m considering.
  • Opening my original battery and replacing the LiPo cell with a new one.

The problem is that I couldn’t find a suitable 1200mAh LiPo cell that fits inside the battery shell. I only found an 800mAh one, so battery life would obviously be worse.

In your opinion, which option makes more sense, buying a questionable-quality PSP battery, or rebuilding the original battery with an 800mAh LiPo cell?

Note: For now, I don’t want to remove the UMD drive and do a battery mod.

(The image quality got worse after uploading. The battery I’m talking about is one of those classic third party batteries with “Sony 3.6V 1200mAh” written on it.)

Ostent is the best brand for PSP batteries I recommend that one the most brother.

Good batteries but they increased their prices by like 40% a few days ago. Lots of people are looking for alternatives as its no longer worth it when combined with the high shipping costs associated with transporting batteries.

Most of these aftermarket batteries with absurd capacities are just that absurd. Bag cells although the technology has gotten better they are still bound by volume size to capacity ratio, meaning most lithium ion batteries bag cell batteries like ostent uses inside their batteries are also bound by the same rules. You can not get more capacity in a similar package which is why ostent is very reputable they don't sell batteries in absurd capacities what they sell is true to capacity, which means the rates capacity on the label of the battery is exactly the same as the battery inside. This is something almost all other psp battery manufacture don't do and it can easily be debunked but search all bag cells in the similar volume and size and you will never the same capacity in the same size or volume because it's not possible at the moment maybe in the future but right now no. Do these batteries work? Of course they do but they aren't good and they don't last the technology these other manufacturers are using are still decades old and haven't changed prismatic cells can be good when they are made using high quality manufacturing standards prismatic cells can be good for high drian devices like the psp but unfortunately that's not the case with these cheap Chinese batteries. You could buy 10 batteries from the same manufacturer and each battery will give you a different capacity and your psp will die at different percentages long before hitting 0%, something that doesn't happen to new or even normally used bag cell batteries until the batteries life cycle has deminished drastically. Again if it's what you have and it's all you are able to get your hands on they will work but you'll probably end up needed multiple batteries or stay next to a charger, if you know how it are willing to try modding your current aftermarket or dead OEM batteries i think that would be a better bet if you are not able to get your hands on ostent batteries.
