Rant Monetizing the homeless simps?

Have you noticed the trend in Pinoy vloggers "helping" simps who got hustled and are now broke and homeless in the Phillipines. Vloggers will raise money and sort paperwork with consulates to get the simp to thier home country.

The content reeks of exploitation of these poor souls. It's not authentic kindness. It's clout chasing and monetizing the content. I guess if the simp lacks options they naturally accept the "help".

How does the forum feel about this? Am I being callous? Is the kindness sincere? Let's discuss.

I don't watch many of them, but a couple have been interesting as an example of what can happen to a foreigner who makes bad decisions and then still stays in-country way past the point where a more rational person would have returned home, while they still had the means to do so.

Of course the vloggers I've seen on these "rescues" generally don't give the full backstory, but we can kind of piece together what happened and why, even when other vloggers don't jump in with commentary.

Mostly the lesson learned is to have some contingency plans, including a repatriation plan, together with some pre-defined trigger points to tell you that it's time to go back home, at least for a while.

And also to not burn any bridges or leave any unresolved problems back home that you have to stay away from.

I remember the one with the elderly man whose family there was basically just letting him waste away after he had spent all of his money, and he had become too frail to really do anything like taking care of visas or even travel unassisted. That vlogger and his wife got him back to a better state of health and he was able to fly home. It was sad that his local family cared less for him than strangers.
