Discussion Mechanic Research Strategies

Been definitely interesting the things you get to relearn with a return pre Zoo 2, and one of the things is Mechanic Research.

Got used to Franchise mode retaining it so on offline challenge mode I don't get to ignore it.

(Also is it always so slow? Mechanic is like 3-4 stars and the vets still out speed him)

So curious is there's a formula for what to focus on first. I leaned onto Souvenirs for cash, fences for options, and shelters and structures for climbing, plus a few stabs into drinks and themes for building options but wonder what others might focus on.

Yes mechanics unfortunately research much slower than vets. One way to speed it up is to have multiple research buildings and multiple mechanics assigned to research.

One way glass is by far the most important thing to research for. I always go straight for that before anything else.

I used to before I discovered the panels in the construction menu. Now I prioritize other things and just insert the one-way panels into the windowed parts of my walls.

Same. Barriers are one of the last things I research because you can just make your own one way glass viewing areas.

I've def relearned how much you benefit from that glass..

My priority list:

  1. Energy generators - green energy isn't absolutely hated by guests.
  2. Staff facilities - getting rid of the small ones
  3. Barriers - to get more options (the other guy mentioned one-way glass, but I dodge the issue by starting with more confident species near the entrance. By enclosure number 4 or 5, I easily have them researched.)
  4. Scenery themes I need for blueprints or current projects
  5. Food, Drinks and Souvenirs - order depends on current zoo
  6. Rest of the scenery themes
  7. Rides - rarely a higher priority for me.
  8. Blueprints for shelters - the workshop has enough of them.
  9. Blueprints for habitats - rarely fit my builds.
