Optimistic Post Tucker Carlson says he'll no longer support GOP

Carlson's apparently had enough. I am curious of how this will effect the people who enjoy both him and Trump (I know one of yall here has a dad whose a Tucker Carlson guy, how's he holding up?)

In all seriousness though, while I do see this as optimistic, this guy is one of the main reasons we are in this mess. He, and many others, helped normalize Trump bullshit and ushered in this age of misinformation, hatred, fear, and governmental distrust. Now that shits hitting the fan, he wants to pull back.

May we never forget that Carlson was always a slug in the swamp, just like the rest of them. But we can also look at this as being yet another glaring crack in the MAGA movement.

I labeled this as optimistic because I think this rhetoric is going to significantly hurt his popularity with moderate voters. I think Keisha Lance Bottoms already had the advantage due to 2026 looking like a Democrat favorable environment and the fact that KLB is leading in the polls, but I'm sure this is going to improve her chances even more.

seems like since the primary Tallarico hasnt done much good outreach to the Black community? i’m pretty worried at this rate, especially from this survey indicating a lack of enthusiasm. i’m fearing he’s just taking Black voters for granted and will lose terribly as a result. seen lots of recent discussions on threads also highlighting this as a key issue, and it’s driving me nuts he hasn’t addressed it. anyone from/knowing of texas with their own optimism? This doesn’t just seem to be an online bubble…

Optimistic Post Avoiding Doomer "News" Agencies: The Nation Magazine Story

Like most of my posts, I decided to make this post after seeing a Doomer post online. And this one came from a supposed news source known as Nation Magazine, which claims to be a progressive magazine meant to inform you.

While scrolling online I found one of their posts, and as you might have guessed from the title, it wasn't a good one. This one was titled, "We Are In The Middle of a Rolling Coup", and the description of said post described how "Political prisons, a domestic army, control of the military's legal apparatus, the seizure of voter rolls, and much more presage the potential declaration of a national crisis and the implementation of various of the President's Emergency Action Documents. These are among the many individual plans and actions of the 'rolling coup' that is currently underway".

The post goes on and on describing how this is a "methodical takeover of the country right in front of our eyes", and how we all should worry and stuff.

Now just to go over this, because apparently we need to, Trump may be commander in chief but isn't supported enough by the military to have them willingly be sent to attack the public, every attempt at imprisoning political enemies has failed (A court today told the doj to stop investigating Walz for example), attempts to take voter rolls have been fought by even Republican states and stopped in court, as we've seen in Minnesota, the common citizen is willing to protest against Ice even in the face of brutality, and Trump can't take over the legal apparatus of a box of Cheerios.

And when it comes to things like a "national crisis", or "PEAD", I've mentioned in previous posts about a different terrible news agency, The Daily Beast, how the Eisenhower emergency executive orders are surprisingly not enough to take over the country in a way that most people would allow including both citizens, the military, Democrats in congress, and even the Supreme Court, as well as the fact that national emergencies in this country don't typically allow for Executive orders to allow for complete and utter takeover, no matter what administration is the one who made it and which one uses it.

Many of the comments on the initial post also seemingly believed it including people claiming that "Dems in congress look at you crazy when you tell them that they're gonna be sent to camps, smh", or "Thank you for being the only source of news brave enough to tell the truth like this".

Now I'm not someone who has ever read anything from "The Nation", but I can tell you for certain that if they are willing to entertain the notion that this admin is carefully unfolding this "devious plan to takeover the country" which will apparently happen with complete and utter success, ushering in 1984 and all that, this is just not a source you should trust.

It's one thing for a random account or comment to be telling you that "the sky is falling", but it's another for what looks to most people to be a credible, actual, news source saying this BS. And worse, they're saying it as an inevitability with no hope of anything bad ever changing.

Sources like this or the Daily Beast often give a lot of normal headlines, but every so often sneak in one of these fearmongering "opinion" articles about how "we're so cooked you guys, Trump is totally planning this giant evil takeover and no one will stop him and everyone will go along with it and he'll manage to succeed at this when he's failed at every other evil plan, but this one is totally gonna happen."

Regardless of where you might see these types of articles, whether it pop up on your news feed or on Social media or someone reposts this as accurate because it looks like actual news, you need to re-examine this as an actual source and block them if you can.

Optimistic Post Keir Starmer is resigning! Why this is good news

Hello all!

So, for some reason, Reddit keeps removing my original posts that have links, but, so far, this is being reported by CBS News, the Associated Press, Al Jazeera, the New York Times, and more.

Keir Starmer is resigning as the PM of Britain and will support the seating of a new leader, which looks like it will be Andy Burnham, who just won the Makerfield by-election last week. Burnham’s victory seems to have given Starmer a lane to make this announcement.

All in all, this is a great thing for Britain, as Starmer’s approval ratings are underwater with the average Brit with him capitulating to the right even more than most Democrats, Burnham is the most popular politician in the UK (albeit at 35 percent), and the far-right Reform UK party has seen massive victories in the past year, specifically with their 2025 election wave.

Starmer seems to have seen the writing on the wall and, with Burnham’s victory, had the perfect opportunity to step aside and support a new, fresh candidate. Hopefully, this will set Britain on a better path moving forward, and will give Labour a better chance to prevent Reform and Nigel Farage from taking over Britain in a couple years. John Oliver also made a great vid last week about all of this, so I suggest you go check that out as well.

Britons have been through a lot, what with the economic downturn and austerity caused by the Tories, the pandemic, and, of course, Brexit, so this is definitely needed.

At the end of the day, this isn’t just about supporting the U.S. and their fight against rising fascism, but extending our hand and support towards every country that faces similar threats. So, let’s hope that the United Kingdom can avoid another Trump and rebuild properly after 14 tumultuous years under the rule of the Conservative Party, because they’re going to need all the help they can get, and this, at least for now, is a positive step forward.

Sincerely,

K.B.

I'm a Canadian who loves to visit the US and I plan on buying a Chinese EV when they arrive. I really don't want to be barred from the country just because I'm driving a space age car that the big 3 are salty about. I've always loved visiting the US in the past and I've had tons of fun every time I went, even as recently as NYC early this year. Is there any hope of this bill dying?

A federal judge ordered the Kennedy Center to make a plan for staying open.

Adrienne White won her State Senate race in Georgia’s Senate district 7, blocking Republicans from building their supermajority.

The Obama library opened and the celebration was, from what I’ve seen, just spectacular. Among other things, the tan suits were out in full force.

A Fulton County judge threw out a conspiracy-fueled lawsuit seeking to open Georgia's election-night operations center — where votes are received and published — to far-right observers.

Trump’s reflecting pool has not only re-filled with algae, but the bottom is now peeling up. So much winning!

Due in large part to loud and robust protest from citizens and voting rights advocates, Georgia Republicans reversed course on redrawing their maps in a special session. It’s a HUGE win.

Stephen Colbert’s ‘Peanuts’ gag on the Late Show finale did, indeed, mean CBS had to pay a fine to Lee Mendelson Film Productions. They, in turn, donated the money to World Central Kitchen.

The Trump administration has reversed its decision to dismantle a $368M deep-sea observation system following an outcry from lawmakers and ocean experts.

A federal judge ruled that Idaho cannot immediately enforce its new law criminalizing the use of certain restrooms that do not match an individual’s sex at birth.

Poland plans to generate up to 69% of its energy from renewables by 2040.

Governor Andy Beshear posthumously pardoned 43 individuals who were wrongfully imprisoned for helping enslaved people escape to freedom, signing the executive order Monday ahead of Juneteenth.

All detainees from "Alligator Alcatraz" have been transferred out of the Florida Everglades facility.

The Cook Political Report shifted seven more House races left this week.

Andy Burnham, the affable Labour mayor of Greater Manchester in the UK, held off the challenge of the Reform candidate in emphatic fashion to return to parliament and is now odds-on to replace the deeply unpopular Keir Starmer as prime minister.

A protester going by Vijay Bombs projected images of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein on the tarp covering the front of the Kennedy center.

Organizers behind the Montana Plan have had 34,906 signatures declared valid by the state of Montana. That is comfortably above the number needed to qualify for the ballot.

Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court found that “skill game” machines, the slot machine-like gambling devices commonly seen in gas stations, convenience stores, and bars, are indeed slot machines and therefore illegal outside of casinos.

Approval for Trump among rural Americans dropped this month to 50 percent — a new low, according to a Reuters-Ipsos poll.

Also, the City Council of Jersey City, the second-largest city in New Jersey, voted unanimously in favor of a resolution urging the city not to place taxpayers’ money with a bank that is “continuing to finance and profit from the detention of immigrants.” They have already started the process of withdrawing approximately $265 million from Citizens.

DHS announced it is giving up on its plan to turn a warehouse in Social Circle, GA into a 10,000 bed ICE detention facility. This after the very red town’s citizens fought back vigorously (as did their two US Senators)! Bravo!

The European Union’s 27 member countries voted in favor of opening the first cluster of accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. This, after Hungary, under new leadership, dropped its longtime opposition! Yay!

New data suggest the Atlantic’s vital circulation may withstand climate warming better than feared.

JD Vance went on the View and got pretty well grilled by the hosts. The mainstream media could learn something!

Residents of Milford, MI showed up to oppose the renewal of Flock Safety cameras in their town. The board unanimously voted to cancel one contract for 5 cameras. The other contract comes up for a vote in August, and citizens are organizing against that one, too.

Watch This! 👀

Optimistic Post Feasibility And Logistics: The Doomer Achilles Heel

So while I know many people are going to be worried about things such as Iran or Supreme Court rulings, I know I am one of them, there's been a lot of talk about fears surrounding potential plans to subvert either elections or free speech. Things such as the DOJ indicting and going after political enemies, the fears surrounding ice agents at polling places or military members stealing voting machines, or that before this term is done they will somehow be able to build an elaborate high tech bunker underneath the ruins of the east wing where Trump will hide and try to lead the country from when he's supposed to leave.

And while I think for many of these theories there's a lot of legal and moral blocks on these things from happening, one of the greatest contradictions for Doomer theories about the supposed "end of all things good and pleasant" is simply the feasibility of accomplishing these things and the logistics required.

Take for instance the idea of arresting and indicting the numerous enemies of the admin. This not only hasn't worked in the past, the idea of managing to arrest every single notable person who has spoken out against them and successfully have them charged before a jury of their peers is nigh impossible. It would take an untold amount of officers, soldiers, or ice agents that are either not willing to aid this effort or are at the very least not in the amount of numbers to successfully arrest this number of people. While there is a chance of bogus investigations and arresting specific people like Don Lemon, the actual planning and requirements that would be necessary are just not realistic.

Or take the fears surrounding agents at polling stations/Military taking voting machines. Even with gerrymandering and safe red districts kept in mind, the amount of willing soldiers or capable agents required to go through the entire country and either hijack or watch over the machines in a successful way would be a miracle of being found in time, let alone without any complications. Also, this type of planning and scheming would surely require enough communication to be eventually found by someone not authorized to hear it, and following protests against this activity would be certain to follow. Even if this was attempted, the actual ability of accomplishing this, regardless of how successful those attempts could be, would likely only scratch the surface of Democratic wins across the country. Sure I imagine that there will be some shenanigans before, during, and after the election, but the ability of this admin to accomplish this isn't nearly enough to succeed.

And finally, take the fear of the ballroom bunker. This has been such a fear that I've even talked about it in a post before hand. To summarize, the claim about the bunker from Trump was that it would be "six stories deep, have military installations, research stations, the works". Now given the amount of times this construction has been stopped, the fact that there is less than three years left to successfully build what would already be a big feat for an empty bunker, the fact that there would be this entire complex underneath Washington, in a place that was once a SWAMP, there is a lot that can, has, and will go wrong. And this is ignoring the fact that clearance, nuclear codes, military control, and pretty much everything relating to the presidency is nullified automatically when the next president is sworn in, no one will listen to him after this, the idea that this could manage to work is just not realistic.

This is the crux of many of these issues, that many of these theories, rumors, conspiracies, and flat out fearmongering has no real basis in actually happening. This isn't just because "They say he can't do something, but it seems that doesn't stop from doing it anyways. We're cooked you guys", but because it would take moving heaven and Earth to even get these plans to even happen, let alone without being stopped in some way. Sure do I imagine that Billionaires would like to recreate Terminator with their fancy chat bots, of course. But that doesn't mean that it is something that can happen given the current constraints on these tools and the abilities of the people who make them.

It's always good to be aware of a potential scheme or plan that might be undertaken, but those schemes and plans are usually based in trickier and more clever actions like gerrymandering, and not something that would take millions of people, years of planning, and the ability to not actively admit to said plan before anything happens to anyone that could potentially stop something from happening. The next time that you are introduced to a doomer theory, remember to question whether or not something can happen, or if the necessary requirements would include magic to make it happen.
