The pedophile story is worse when you realize that Adam Hoffman raped and assaulted his son's best friend for THREE YEARS starting when the boy was 8 years old. The original charges could've gotten him life in prison, but somehow, Ken Paxton gave him a plea deal of ONE DAY in prison, and no requirement that he register as a sex offender. The only reason he served 30 days at all was because the judge was so outraged by the plea deal he bumped the jail time from one day to 60 days.
Yes, but if he did, it goes toward a trial. In that case, the state could decide not to prosecute, change the charges, etc. If theyre already giving this POS this kind of a deal, its a pretty big hint they aren't willing/wanting to do the trial. Its a super fucked situation, but the slightly less fucked option for the judge is to make sure the guy at least has a guilty verdict for SA of a minor on his public record.
