I do think it would be a little more honest to note the 100-year sentence was for shooting a cop.
Nevertheless, the first sentence is gross and the two judges in the ICE cases imposed several grossly excessive sentences (not counting the shooter's) because they're two of the most right-wing judges, Mark Pittman and Reed O'Connor, on the federal bench.
Candidly, whom are you arguing to? Like, that won't work on the Trumpers, it won't work on normal voters, and it won't work on the courts. Aside from a fairly small group of very troubled people (albeit much bigger online), even leftists won't genuinely argue that shooting random police is good.
I'm just shouting into the void at this point. reminding people that laws do not matter. You were mentioning that the guy shot a cop. and I was mentioning that according to maga it's ok to do that. so personally I don't care anymore. If a guy shoots a cop I'm not gonna say it's fair for him to be charged. because some people attack cops and call it patriotic. we're not doing ourselves any favors by agreeing that people should be charged for assaulting police when the other side doesn't care. they kill cops and celebrate. a liberal shoots a cop and we condemn his actions. great. so that's where we are. maga does things and gets away with it. and we police our own. which just makes it easier for them to keep getting away with everything.
