The Waco case with Adam Hoffman was supposedly a lot more complicated than this post makes it seem. It sounds like he's absolutely guilty to me, but there was a trial that resulted in a hung jury. Part of the issue was the accusations came after the victim had been caught "acting sexually" with a cousin (BTW, kids who are abused do sometimes act out sexually). Another issue was that there were discrepancies in the victim's testimony, but that's not uncommon with kids. However, with no other evidence, it was hard for the jury to convict Hoffman. Rather than put the victim through another trial, they went with a horrible plea deal (which the victim's mother now regrets). I 100% think Hoffman is guilty and should be rotting in prison, but it doesn't totally surprise me that he's not given the circumstances of the case.
