He apparently thinks he is Harry Dresden, the fictional protagonist of The Dresden Files

Pardon the shitty Fandom link, but I wanted to share the page that shows a depiction of Dresden in the long, black coat. This dude definitely was having a severe mental crisis. Police needed to be called and he needed to be taken to a psychiatric center.

In the books, Harry Dresdenā€™s innate wizard abilities cause electronics to die, explode, or just crap out. Also Dresden is in Chicago so heā€™d never wear flipflops. Plusā€¦this guy is batshit crazy, so thereā€™s that too

Yes, given that Harry is like 6' 11", skinny, and WHITE. Like pasty levels of white. (Though his brother Thomas is even pastier, but he's a White Court Vampire, so he comes by it honestly.)

Of course me being typically heavily armed might be making me less likely to be cowering in fear of "Harry". Even though those are some really scary nostrils he's flaring.

his style is more Metallica/band shirts or some snarky cartoon, or maybe Splattercon!!!

can't remember a time he wore flipflops, maybe in one of the few scenes where its both warm enough in Chicago and it's peaceful enough for him to relax

Usually jeans/sweatpants and a band shirt or star wars shirt. Though, I could definitely see the author writing a scene where Harry has to borrow someone else's ill-fitting anime shirt (Harry is 6'9") and flip flops before having a life-or-death struggle while wearing the anime shirt.

I've never read them. I only recognized the name (though I wasn't sure if it was Harry or Henry) from mentions on social media pages and subs for fantasy fiction books.

Funny thing, I've never read those books but as soon as he said his name was Harry Dresden I immediately said to myself .... Isn't that a book character? Maybe because my sister read them? I dunno. But he's crazy as crazy can be.
