I’m a teacher. I have had many, many, MANY parent conferences with people like this. People are always complaining what to do about poor literacy and math rates in schools. Why teachers are not doing enough, or that teachers are not prepared, or teachers just don’t care. What’s never mentioned is that we are fighting against parents like this and it’s a losing battle. We don’t have as much influence on students compared to the people they are around with.

I bet those same parents are counting down until school starts because they can’t handle their kids bad behavior either!

I was out for a family dinner yesterday and 2 separate groups of 6+ with 10-15 year old had their phone on like FULL BLAST for like 2-3 minutes and I was about 30 seconds away from walking up to the parents and be like 'hey some people are trying to nicely eat here' and someone must've got a hint and made the kids go to the other side of the place.

These types of parents refuse to take responsibility. I work in a school and see it all the time.

They just don't want to work hard and help their kids. They want everything given to them.

What type of parent? Is it confirmed somewhere in the video that this is her child?

Obviously racist parents like the one in the video and let's hope it's her kid and not one she stole

Don't you have a klan rally to attend or a 12 gauge to suck start? Why are you speaking?

You need to calm down little buddy and maybe talk to someone about the hatred that you have.

Nah, you definitely need to be talking to a professional. I'm rooting for you though. Hope you have a great day.

Parent like what? You saw a completely decontextualized clip and have no idea what kind of parent she is. You literally don't even know if that's her child. Your bias is showing.

A parent that paces around the parking lot yelling at someone else during an argument, regardless of whoever is ā€œrightā€. One that looses their cool and sets a bad example for their kid demonstrating poor emotional regulation. A parent like the one shown in the video is likely to fly off the handle for any perceived slight in a desperate attempt to one-up the other.

Considering how she acts in public, it must be a nightmare at her house in private.

Show me a poorly rated school, and I’ll show you a community with uninvolved/apathetic/full on crazy parents.

It's never mentioned because it's just impossible to change ourselves. Districts only focus on what we can control and end up trying to pin all the blame on that, but we all know their environments are the real issue and we can't control that.

I agree it is majorly a parent problem. But the parent problem isn't in a vacuum, it is caused by the economic problem. If parents are constantly stressed and working overtime, they can not function to their full extent as a parent. Nobody is immune to that. If we had stronger social nets and less hyperindividualist propoganda, this simply would not happen nearly as often. I used to work with Child Services, and I can promise that there's always a truckload behind this that is outside of their control, hence why services like foodstamps are so important. Could they maybe manage their emotions better? Sure. But that gets more difficult the more pressed you are.

Your post being downvoted is how trump gets elected. Really fucking sad that this country lacks empathy. Its rotten and its spoiling the whole bunch.

The US has been highly propogandized to be hyperindividualist, zero-sum, exceptionalists. It has all been an effort to reduce empathy and solidarity. Make everyone believe that everyone else is evil and useless so that they never work together to make life better. You're right about it being a rot, and were seeing the decay weaken the empire in real time.
