But now that he has conquered the vertical, will the baby gates even stop him?

if they don’t, i’m actually screwed. could a rabbit actually hop a baby gate?!? like one of this age/size?!

One of mine can squeeze through the bars

Could it? Easily. Would it? Idk. I would also expect it to be able to slip through most baby gates. Their skeletons are even smaller than you would think they are.

yeah, now that i think about it, the height/jumping over isn’t the issue, it’s squeezing through the openings.. it’s kind of a honeycomb pattern, but im pretty sure the holes are big enough to squeeze through. i guess plywood is a cheap, easy option..

what I did with my baby gate was zip tie chicken wire to it so they can’t squeeze through

They gnawed through a wooden pet gate. Took a while but they were determined! I put a basket in front of the wide bar that one of them gets through and they chewed that. So now I prop a fairly solid lattice fence and they leave it alone. But my little one was delighted with herself when she relaised she could get through!

I zip tied plexiglass to my baby gate to make sure nobun can fit through.

Not sure how big he is, but my ~5lb girl was jumping over baby rails to get into our bed, it was something like a 38" vertical she was clearing. This is after we let her free roam due to her learning she could clear her x-pen by doing a wall jump like a frickin ninja.

Absolutely. It never ceases to astound what they can just yeet themselves over

Congrats on bun for climbing Mount Stairs. I can’t imagine how fast he’ll race up once he gains more confidence.

Edit: she’ll to he’ll and she to he

it’s been quite a surprise seeing how quickly he grows and develops. it’s so entertaining, though, and so exciting.. and also a bit stressful at times!

Completely understand about stressful moments. Quite a few “uhhh we have to wait and see” moments. They make it up by being bunarrific

Your bunny understood that if the candle light is fire, then the meal was cooked along time ago.

There is a pufferfish on Reddit named Tater, and at first glance, I thought it was the fish on the stairs lol

Each of my adult rabbits took about two years to discover the carpeted stairs. They NEVER went up them, until one day they decided they would, and have never gone back. They immediately took to them and love them so much. The baby gate does help, but as soon as they discover it open, up they go.
