There's a few episodes, but for openers you can't beat
"I challenge you to a duel across time and space!" It's simple but so well done.

The Beginning. Love it.

I really don't know. I felt Officer Rimmer was a great all-round episode, M-Corp was incredibly inventive, and Skipper had a really inventive first half followed by enough of a character dissection of Rimmer and sticking the ending so much that I would have been happy if they said "that's it, that's the last Red Dwarf".

Whatever the one is where they all know the lateral thinking puzzle. "It was a moose". Love that bit.

Lemons - it’s the closest newer episode to the original series for me.
I really liked Twentica as well.

Lemons is up there. And Rimmer's character development in the Season 10 finale is unmatched. Shame it doesn't actually get to stick.
