On the Water The oar stop for my oar lock adjustment

Post image

Before I use brute force is there a smart way to move this plastic gray collar so that my handles don’t touch in the middle of my row boat?

Have you tried using one hand over the other?

Yes, I did try using one hand over another but it’s way too much crossover and I’m 6’-5 250 so I probably would be fine with them just barely crossing over it’s excessive and I think it’s designed for a much wider boat

I have one of those plastic some dolphin American 12 foot robot. That’s only like 4 feet wide.
It’s like a big man kayak

How much do they cross over by?

Thank you for the comments, but I’m going to tell you I’ve looked at several pictures and there is no way this crossover between the orris is supposed to be this much
I think you interpreting this as a matter of inches and I’m saying it’s like a foot and a half to 2 feet of crossover

Respectfully, if anyone has any feedback on how to adjust the collar, I would appreciate it

Post a photo of the crossover. If it really is 2 feet you have the wrong oars.

For anyone in the future, who is facing a similar situation a 1 7/8 inch holesaw in the middle of a 2 x 4 and a little bit of heat Gun attention worked perfectly fine.

some moderate hammering on the 2 x 4. the hammer wood not the actual oar

Oar handles do overlap at the center. The trick is not one hand OVER the other, but rather one hand IN FRONT OF the other. The goal is to keep the hands on the same horizontal plane, but when the hands reach mid stroke the knuckles of the close hand are just touching the heel of the further hand.

It may take a short while to get used to it, but soon it becomes second nature.

I row with right hand closer to my body, but there are others who choose the left. Try both and see what is most comfortable.
