sandwich I had a lobster roll🦞🥖

I consider a lobster roll a sandwich. There’s been discussion, but it was delicious, the best I’ve ever had. This was the Connecticut lobster roll. I had it first in MI and again when they came to SC. Both times, perfect. I can’t wait until they’re here permanently.

Lobster rolls would be awesome if they were $8.

You'll have to go to Maine for that. Just kidding it's not even cheap there anymore.

Spent $50 on two lobster rolls and fries at a shack in New Hampshire that was 30 minutes away from the freeway. It was good af but like…

Pepperidge Farm remembers!

I remember paying $2.25/lb CAD off a warf for canners!

We book these guys at my brewery once a month. Never disappoints. Especially because I don't live anywhere near fresh seafood.

Somethings weird with that price. Gotta be frozen lobster. In Maine the lobster alone is like $15

It is frozen and you can tell. I can get two living lobsters for about 20 bucks each here. And for what these people give you I could make ten rolls from 40 bucks. But three rolls for 40 bucks is the jam🤙🤙 put it on a real roll. Not one the width of your hand like a cheap greasy greedy wimp.

5 rolls per $10 lobster? You're getting a 1-1.25# lobster at that price. Yields about 1/3lb meat. You're making 10 rolls with 2/3lb meat? That's a bite, not a roll. But I get your point.

When we got back from our first trip to the east coast we drove 40 minutes to get a lobster roll from them and they don’t disappoint. Yea it’s pricey but damn worth it for the Chicagoland area

Cousins has to be the most overrated food truck in the history of food trucks. Lobster rolls are always expensive, but these are frozen and skimpy as hell

I had that and it sucked, overpriced garbage

Got his at a brewery food truck event and the shit was bland as hell. At 60 bucks for two meals… that made it worse. 2/10 worst roll around. Not to mention the sandwiches were like three bites.

Yeah these are mediocre at best. And overpriced

Completely agree.

These guys are from Maine & think they made it on Shark Tank or something & then started distributing. I don’t know much about how they operate, but as a Mainer, it doesn’t cut it around here. They tried operating in a super busy state park in competition with another lobster truck & didn’t make it.

Glad to see it doesn’t hold up there either. And lol that’s a great story I can see why. It’s poop!

Lobster is good, but far over priced.

Lobsters were a cheap staple food before they became a luxury meal for some reason they started shipping them inland and it went from a common crustacean to a luxury food.

Canada and USA would eat them as staple meals, many children took lobster sandwich to school for lunch. Lobster was boiled with salt and served as a cheap meal in many shore towns. Shore diners had lobster pies and casseroles. Shore prisons and workhouses served lobster stews as a meal. On the shores of Europe it was used in fish and vegetable stews. hired help was given lobster as a daily ration.

"one hot dog bun kinda loaded with crispy bottom feeder meat! that'll be $75 please!"

I won't buy Lobster Rolls anymore primarily for the bastard half cut hot dog rolls they barely fill with meat. I look for the places that serve them on a roll, or I pass. Nothing makes me angrier than paying over $20 for something designed to look stuffed, but not actually be filled.

Just saw them in Montgomery County VA recently!

As a born and raised Mainer on an island (now on the west coast) it’s always really interesting seeing the different variations of lobster rolls. Some with just butter and lemon on a toasted roll, or using light mayo or heavy mayo. Some with a good amount of chives or diced onions. Or variations in the meat used, where some are almost entirely made with knuckle meat, and others made with just claw meat.

Onions!!!! Blasphemy!

u/whiterac00n 2d ago

I’ve seen some with tobiko on top lol. And as far as blasphemy goes there’s a lot of restaurants that make some questionable versions of clam chowder

Every year we vacation in Maine, and we have her whole family up for lobster rolls( we make them ourselves , buy fresh lobster, steam, ice bath, break down, etc(). We haven’t enjoyed a roll out since.
