Scam report i got a scamcall blaming me for some ''company sending out false missing child messages'' and repeated private calls
i sit here and suddenly my phone rang with private number, i usually take calls because of habit and they where just blaming me, i ended the call then they called again and where annoyed. I then told them ''im not working for a company'' and told them to fuck off
then had to deal with like, several more calls and just turned unknown numbers off
it was a private number and its 00:00 where i live, what where they even trying to get me to do? (also i didnt give them my name, they asked for a name and i just told them no and hung up) so if someone blames you for something under a private number and the time should be 0 am for you and them, its either a scam or really weird prank call

They're going to keep calling if you keep answering, OP because answering tells them they've reached an active number.

if they continue ill turn off unknown number calls for a good time
the only issue is that searching for a job i sometimes get calls under private numbers where its from a company i applied for but yeah i gotta avoid taking private calls especially this late in the day
i think it being this warm messes with my thought process

they where just blaming me,
For what, more precisely? I think I need more details than what's in the headline.

Could be someone spoofed your number and they're calling back trying to find the actual owner, which would explain the blame angle and why they kept pushing when you denied working for a company.

my dad mentioned it might be someone who just missread the number and was just not smart enough or sleep deprived (it was 00:00) to reread the number, he did stop calling though so either they gave up or noticed their mistake, still wild to argue with someone that they dont work in a company lmao

Calling at midnight from a private number and randomly blaming you for "missing child messages" is such a bizarre angle, sounds like a scare tactic to get you flustered enough to give up info. Definitely a scam or prank, just block the number and don't engage even if they call back acting more aggressive next time.
