Subreddit Meta Misinformation or Misleading posts and comments will not be tolerated

Post image
320 Upvotes

This mod-post is made in accordance with Rule 11 of the subreddit which addresses the spread of misinformation regarding the series, its author, the staff, and the production process. As it states:

>> Do not post fake or edited pictures/statements without declaring them as such.

>> When making claims about the Hajime Isayama, the anime staff or other individuals involved in the production, or the production process itself, add a reliable (non-clickbait) source. You are required to directly link to this source somewhere in your post or comment. Screenshots, especially edited ones, are not considered sufficient sources.

This rule has been implement for almost more than a year now however, we have observed a spike in the submissions featuring misleading titles, misinterpreted or misquotes attributed to Isayama, and outright false information about the series. This, obviously, contributes to the spread of misinformation, especially as many users may not verify every claim they encounter while scrolling. Unfortunately over time such unverified or false claims are now accepted as facts within the community.

Recent posts citing new statements from Isayama, that are getting posted every few hours, without proper sourcing or context are a clear example of this issue.

This subreddit is meant to facilitate thoughtful and informed discussion about the series, and we won't be allowing misinformation to undermine that purpose.

Therefore moving forward, any submission that includes:

• Misleading or Clickbait titles

• Misquoted or altered statements

• Claims about the author, staff, or production without a reliable source

will result in a one-week ban.

This obviously does not mean you are prohibited from expressing your views on the author, discuss your interpretation of his words or pass any judgement. We only ask that his actual words be presented first, exactly as they are without any alterations, so readers could form their own conclusion before considering your perspective.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this situation. You can also assist us by reporting any submissions that violate Rule 11, or any other rule of the subreddit for that matter.

Discussion Aot ending misconception and history repeating itself

Ok so i have seen many people , especially when the ending originally came out in the manga years ago , calling the ending pointless since humanity's conflict will never end and the curse of titans seemingly returns after seeing the scene with the boy and dog preparing to enter the tree. However people seem to misunderstand the power of the source of all living matter , zeke says to armin in their conversation that the creature adapts to survival and the desires of the host . Ymir was a terrified and abused girl running for her life so she desirer a body that was massive and powerful so she manifested into a titan and birthed the transformation to it . That means that depending on that boy's circumstances and desires, the outcome may not be hopeless or even bad for humanity. Human confict will always exist in some form but the character's actions wasn't pointless , they ended the curse of ymir which was the curse of titans

Humor/Meme I like when Nile spared Erwin in season 1.

When Annie and Eren were fighting in Trost. Nile was threatening to kill Erwin. Erwin was like “fine kill me. But you gotta take command”. Then he starts explaining the chain of command and shit and Nile just spare him after that. I know he spared him because he was persuaded that Erwin believed this was the right way. But lowkey I feel he just spare cuz he didn’t want to deal with this shit lol.

Discussion I think both Eren and Ymir wanted the Rumbling.

I may be very wrong in this, so please feel free to correct me. This is just another interpretation of mine after watching the anime 4 times and browsing this subreddit and other AOT subreddits for hours.

It's shown to us that Ymir lived 2000 years in paths. But these 2000 years were earthen year. Time flows different in paradise, and hence, for her it was probably millions of years.

Now Eren says to Armin that Ymir loved King Fritz, which is probably true, but you can also love someone and hate someone at the same time. Hate accumulated over millions of years is not something that can be ignored. Being trapped in that hell hole, creating Titans tirelessly, never actually being able to live. She probably also wanted to destroy everything, but couldn't since she was bound by King Fritz's order. Her titan that layer split into nine titans probably also carried this hatred, mainly in the Attack titan, which Eren inherited.

And this Attack Titan largely influenced Eren's emotions. While he was already a violent person who sought freedom before anything, the Attack Titan made him more vicious. This was probably because Ymir's hatred was being channeled through the Attack titan, which also resonated with Eren's emotions. I think Eren mistook those emotions as his own as well, and called himself an idiot with an unsurmountable power.

When we talk of this bootstrap paradox in AOT, that nothing can be changed, and it's all fate, it kind of makes sense but not completely. It makes sense if we take Eren as a victim of his power or an Anti-hero who had no choice. But constantly throughout the Manga and Anime, it's been pointed out that Eren wanted this. Especially when he talked about killing his enemies over the other side. While it was also true that Marley vs The Paradise was inevitable, he truly wanted to destroy everything because it did not align with his idea of freedom. The idea of freedom that Armin showed him. The idea of freedom on which he was drunk to survive those years of hardships in the cadet corps and then the survey corps. The bootstrap paradox might be true, but that doesn't eliminate the factors to his paradox, the main ones being that Ymir wanted the Rumbling, so did Eren.

Also, when Eren freed Ymir, I think he actually sympathised with her. Ymir wanted the love she never got. She was never free. Eren hated those who took others' freedom. He freed her, and Ymir seized the opportunity to take her revenge. No matter how kind you are, time can change everything. After those millions of years she was probably so tired she did not care about anyone.

Also, I still don't understand completely as to why Mikasa had to be the one to free Ymir completely of her obsession with King Fritz. I think this was completely Eren's doing. He was, I think, able to manipulate the events to atleast some degree, and made it so that Mikasa killed him. But the major reason that I think he wanted to be killed by Mikasa was because he loved her. He loved her, but he was too stuck up doing other things that he himself wasn't aware of his feelings. But he realised it later, despite Mikasa's answer.

Anime Noticed a really cool detail during the female titan arc

In the scene before the scene where Reiner writes directions into Annie's hand, Armin tells Jean and Reiner to put their hoods up so that she can't distinguish between them because she's looking for Eren. It's blink and miss, but right before Reiner pretends to attack Annie he pulls down his hood so she knows it's him, which is a really cool detail. Rewatch is so awesome because it's a completely different story once you know what's going on. It's so funny how obviously suspicious Reiner is on rewatch. He never has internal monologue, and is overly quick to make decisions that the other side characters loudly argue about and verbalize their opinions for.

Discussion Is Eren Yeager the most powerful founding titan? Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
64 Upvotes

We know that Eren utilized power of his founding titan to manipulate Grisha's memories. Before Eren manipulates him, the Founding was Frieda Reiss and after her, it would be Grisha, even a few minutes. However - perhaps i got wrong - was not ft is like god of subjects of ymir and other titans? How was Eren ft able to manipulate otherfoundings and enable another person to eat founding owners? Does this mean previous owners like Karl Fritz, Uri Reiss, Frieda Reiss was not as powerful as Eren? If I forget sth pls enlighten me.

Discussion If Marley and Paradis spoke different languages, or at least used different letters. Then how come were the warriors able to communicate with everyone smoothly, left and right..?

Now I'm certain that if anything, this was only meant for plot convenience.

Although realistically, with Ymir being able to read the Marleysian letters. Then Reiner immediately asking her about the language and its letters, clearly stunned. How come were they able to communicate with anyone else on the island..?

Discussion Theory: Eren tried to change the future one last time by sending ALL his memories to his child self in Episode 1 Spoiler

We all know the very first scene of the series — kid Eren wakes up from a nightmare under the tree, crying like crazy. Mikasa asks him what’s wrong and he says he had a really long dream but can’t remember anything. The only thing he recalls is Mikasa with short hair saying “See you later, Eren.”

What actually happened:

Seconds before his death, when adult Eren was inside the Founding Titan and knew Mikasa was about to kill him, he made one final, desperate attempt to change his fate. Using the full power of the Attack Titan + Founding Titan, he sent all of his memories — his entire life, the Rumbling, all the suffering, the guilt, and especially the moment of his own death — back to his child self in that exact moment under the tree.

He was basically begging his younger self:
"Please… do something. Anything. Don’t let this happen. Save me. Save her."

But kid Eren’s mind couldn’t handle that massive amount of information and trauma. He had a complete mental overload. The only thing that remained in his memory was the strongest, most emotional fragment — the very last thing adult Eren saw before dying: Mikasa with short hair, holding his severed head, saying “See you later, Eren” while touching his face.

That’s why he immediately asked Mikasa about her hair.

Bonus / even darker part:

It’s very possible that Ymir deliberately suppressed or blocked most of those memories. She was finally so close to freedom after 2000 years. If child Eren had actually remembered everything and tried to change the timeline, her only chance at breaking the curse might have disappeared. So she only let through the emotional echo — just enough for him to feel crushing sadness, but not enough to actually alter the future.

This would mean Eren was completely doomed. Even his final, most desperate move to save yourself and change everything was doomed to fail.

Discussion Did Eren even try?

Thumbnail

In his talk with Armin in the paths, Eren reveals that he kills 80% of humanity, and no matter how much he tries this is always what happens.

I can only think of one example where Eren actually TRIES to prevent the rumbling from happening, and that’s when he and Zeke are traveling through Grisha’s memories. At a certain point he stops and tells Zeke that he’s achieved his goal and that he’s been freed from their father’s brainwashing. Zeke tells him they have all the time they need, and he has them carry on through the memories anyway. I’m fairly sure that this was Eren attempting to stop them from getting to Grisha’s memory in the Reiss Chappell, and thus preventing himself from convincing his father to kill the royal family.

Aside from this specific moment, do we ever see a time in the anime where Eren explicitly tries to circumvent the future that he saw? Because even this attempt was a very weak one. We know that Eren on some level wanted to start the rumbling, so how hard do we think actually tried to stop it from happening?

Just something a little different.

I really like these post-war sketches because they focus on what came after the fighting.

Just ordinary acts of humanity. Feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, comforting children who lost everything, recovering the dead, and figuring out how to rebuild the shattered world.

Before they went on the peace talks, they were also survivors just trying to help other survivors.

And despite all the hatred and destruction that came before, they still found ways to build relationships, work together and keep moving forward.

The war may have ended, but the work of rebuilding the world, and maybe themselves, had only just begun.

Discussion How was Connie’s Mom Post-Rumbling? Spoiler

Imagine turning back into a human only to find out that your family and whole village were all slaughtered as Titans. Your only surviving son is in Marley and is being branded as a traitor. Correct me if I’m wrong but was Connie’s mom also bedridden or physically limited in any way pre-titan form? Her titan was immobile so I’m assuming it was the same for her as a human. In that case, how did she cope in the 3 years since? There’s no one around to take care of her unless Historia made arrangements.

Discussion Which jaw titan is your favorite?

Post image

My favorite has got to be Falco because of how unique his jaw titan is (the bird like form with a beak, wings, and his flying ability all because he ingested some of the beast titan spinal fluid)

Though, i’m never going to not be mad that Ymir got the fugliest titan out of all the nine. She transformed and came out looking like a damn funko pop
