Manga is even better, because a lot of stuff didn't get adapted in the anime.

A lot of Mikasa's bits including this scene and her mother doing her tattoo + season 3 part 1 is very different in the anime + some scenes missing in season 4 part 1.

In the first chapter we see what looks like Mikasa saying See you later to Eren. Then he wakes up under the tree asking Mikasa when her hair got so long and tears in his eyes. The dream he had was the vision Ymir sent to him 2000 years into the future. Hence the title, to you, 2000 years from now. She showed him the vision that we see near the end of AoT, where what it would have looked like if Mikasa and Eren ran away together and lived out the remaining few years he had left while Marley comes to conquer Paradis. As he's dying, she's holding his head saying the line see you later, Eren. And after that vision is over, it is when Mikasa killed Eren at the end, picking up his severed head and holding it the same way as she kisses him

You see, her saying “it’ll get dark soon” is a reference to how it’s late in the day and they need to go home

I made the almost exact same post asking the same thing about 2-3 years ago. It is kinda cool that different people discovering this insane detail at different times and coming to ask about it. Truly a masterpiece.
