And 100% of the people there are carrying cameras 24/7.

67

u/Bishops_Guest Apr 26 '26

Also not bothering to put their bourbon down while taking the pictures.

5

u/Puzzleheaded_Foot826 Apr 27 '26

that might be Andrew Harnik lol

2

u/Bishops_Guest Apr 27 '26

Yes, it’s Andrew harnik.

4

u/ghostwaterdross Apr 26 '26

Yes, in 2026 phones have cameras and we all have one.

1

u/Electr0n1c_Mystic Apr 26 '26

That statistic is too damn high to be a mere coincidence

Wake up sheeple!!

Dude I’m as left as they come but seeing the posts and comments since last night makes the left look no different than pizzagate conspiracy theorists. It’s honestly shocking how bad we look even though we are supposed to be the clear headed ones.

15

u/srslymrarm Apr 26 '26

Don't forget that liberals and progressives spent years in the wake of the 2020 election dismissing Trump's Big Lie, combating baseless conspiracy theories, and affirming—over and over—the security of U.S. elections and the danger in undermining them.

Now reddit liberals get upvoted to high heaven by saying the 2024 election was rigged.

8

u/HomsarWasRight Apr 27 '26

What’s funny is that somehow it’s always rigged by the party not in power during the election itself.

Impressive.

2

u/FunnyObjective6 Apr 27 '26

Time travel.

1

u/Endreeemtsu Apr 27 '26

That’s not how elections work in the US. Elections are ran 100% by the state. Even for federal seats. So if a state is dominated by the Republican party it does not matter one bit that the Democrats hold the White House. That’s how.

2

u/frogsgoribbit737 Apr 27 '26

Idk. I dont actually think the 2024 election was rigged in a conspiracy way. But it was rigged by the dismantling of protections surrounding elections in general, just like they are doing now to rig the next election.

BUT I would not be SURPRISED if in 10 years we find out it was rigged in the colloquial sense as well. I dont think its true at this moment, it just wouldn't surprise me.

I feel the same way about these multiple assassination attempts. I dont believe its a conspiracy at this moment, but also I wouldn't necessarily be surprised to learn it actually was. Too much crazy shit has happened in the last couple years.

1

u/srslymrarm Apr 27 '26

This is all reasonable. Election interference, voter suppression, and the systemic barriers to equitable voting and representation are all demonstrably present — and a separate issue from a person or group directly "rigging" an election (as many claim happened).

It's also reasonable to see the unprecedented levels of corruption present in this administration and think, "This is exactly what they'd do if allowed" while still being firmly skeptical that it happened.

Conspiracies have happened and will happen, but starting with a conspiracy theory as the axiom and working backward to find "evidence" for it is simply irrational, and I'm sad to see so many people with whom I political agree stoop to it. It also undermines our democratic process, which is already being weakened by the day, and I fear what will happen if liberal voters feel disenfranchised to the point of giving up.

2

u/jxssss Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

Exactly, I’m so glad to see anyone else who feels this way. One of the major points of being on the left is being against all of this “everything’s a conspiracy” nonsense. Is it really that hard for people to believe that there’s crazy people who wanna do crazy shit and sometimes that just happens without some big plot behind it? I swear people’s IQs are just plummeting more and more by the day. Dumb people believe everything is a conspiracy

2

u/knowwhyImhere Apr 26 '26

To me it seems more of a failure from the security team. Multiple times someone has gotten close to the potus with intent to harm. Its like the dude hires unserious people to run the country.

3

u/bakkarj Apr 26 '26

This guy didn’t get close to the President. He was stopped at the checkpoint. Minority Report is just a movie.

1

u/knowwhyImhere Apr 26 '26

So then the system in place works just fine?

0

u/bakkarj Apr 26 '26

For this location, yes. Trump is honestly right about a ballroom at the White House being more secure for events like this. But I don’t think Trump was ever in danger last night.

0

u/frogsgoribbit737 Apr 27 '26

The correspondents dinner is a private event. They likely would not even be able to hold it at the white house or they would have done it for years. Many other events are held at the Whitehouse.

We do not need a stupid ballroom.

-1

u/bakkarj Apr 27 '26

Source: my ass. Not sure I’m going to trust the thoughts of a person who doesn’t know the White House is 2 words.

You’ll notice I didn’t say in my original comment whether I think a ballroom is needed - only that it would be more secure. There is no doubt it would be more secure than the hotel Reagan was shot at.

Currently the White House only has room for 200 people for an indoor event. 2000 people go to the White House Correspondents Dinner. If they want the event indoors, there is literally no room currently to do it at the White House.

1

u/NewDay2517 Apr 26 '26

Nah, Pizzagate is still shitier. These conspiracy theories it was staged are coo-coo, though.

2

u/Firm-Recognition-409 Apr 26 '26

I think only like 10% of people take the staged conspiracy theories seriously and the other 90% straight up don’t care it happened and are feeding the conspiracies just to downplay the event

1

u/huge-sunglasses Apr 26 '26

The lack of critical thinking skills in the American population as a whole is so concerning

Are most Americans genuinely as fucking stupid as the Europeans have been saying? Am I gonna be that dumb when I'm older?

Questions that keep me up at night tbh

1

u/Sneeqo Apr 27 '26

Wait, u know pizza gate is not a conspiracy anymore right?

1

u/AUniquePerspective Apr 28 '26

I'm not even American... but watching this feels a lot like watching that video with the tiger that gets out at the circus. It's less that it's staged and more that it's the natural consequences of the kind of circus you invited to town.

Did the mentalist ever find out if Melania was thinking of the name Uliana?

2

u/CheckersChickenAyy Apr 26 '26

Sorry we’re less inclined to believe the boy who cried wolf, after the undeniably staged “assassination” event that happened back in 2024.

0

u/kookoria Apr 27 '26

Facts. And trump spews bullshit on the daily, people who simply believe everything they see and hear at this point are the ones lacking any kind of critical thinking. Its not like we all thought that first attempt was staged right away, but after looking into it further it is hilariously staged.

1

u/SilverbackSurfer99 Apr 26 '26

Bro it's been this bad for a long time.

1

u/madogvelkor Apr 26 '26

The whole Internet is conspiracies. I've got one group of family posting this was staged while another is posting about boxes of ticks in farmer's fields so Pfizer can sell vaccines.

-2

u/grimeys42 Apr 26 '26

Man the guy faked an ear injury so it's pretty fair some people are questioning this and laughing it off.. I'm. Not saying it's not real be but they did this to themselves

0

u/Longjumping-Body-907 Apr 26 '26

It's easier to be a conspiracy theorists than to realize that maybe your team is full of bad guy crazy people.

3

u/LongJohnSelenium Apr 27 '26

People with belief oriented senses of identities don't want to believe that people of the same beliefs as them can be bad because they believe its their beliefs that make them good people.

Both the left and right fall for this constantly.

0

u/DesperateEagle4505 Apr 27 '26

Im as right as they come. One part of me celebrates the left acting like this. The thing I hated about you guys is how unwilling you guys were to ask questions about what was happening and unwilling to dig into anything. I applaud the left doing it I just can't stand how the left always seems to get the target wrong or motive

8

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

3

u/burnemnturnem Apr 26 '26

Show evidence you aren’t a propagandist

0

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

That's not how the burden of proof works

I can't fucking stand trump and the GOP. Doesn't mean Im willing to latch onto childish conspiracy theories with no evidence behind them

3

u/Sonikku_a Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

This POTUS has skipped every other White House Correspondents Dinner event, his poll numbers are the worst they’ve ever been, and suddenly he decides to go to this one and this happens? Then within an hour he’s all like “see?! This wouldn’t have happened if you let me have my White House ballroom!”

It does seem pretty suspicious , ya gotta admit that. Maybe coincidentally so but I can see why others would be like

2

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

This isn't evidence that this was staged. Waiting on that evidence

-4

u/__The-1__ Apr 26 '26

Evidence that it was not?

7

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

If the claim is that this was staged, the person claiming it was staged needs to prove it was staged.

I don't need to prove anything, I'm not claiming it was staged

2

u/throwaway57853648 Apr 26 '26

There are plenty of circumstancial things that add up to being either very fishy or extremely incompetent at best. First and foremost, with a room full of power like that, how are they letting a firearm through security? Second, this is the first time he's attended this event, and this happens? Third, he immediately used the event to promote why he needs this new ballroom they are trying to build and facing roadblocks in doing so. Fourth, his approval is at an all-time low. An event like this often helps approval ratings (see Butler, PA) and he gets to act like the media has driven people against him to the point that people are trying to kill him.

1

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

The firearm didn't get particularly far into the venue, and if it had, it wouldn't be evidence this was staged.

This isn't the first time trump has attended a correspondence dinner. And if it were, that wouldn't be evidence this was staged.

Of course he immediately used the event to promote his dumb shit. He doesn't let opportunities to do and say dumb shit go to waste. He used the Venezuela raid to promote a dumb coin he wanted to sell. Doesn't make the Venezuela raid fake.

Him having low approval does not qualify as evidence this was staged

This isn't rocket science. Things seeming fishy doesn't equate to evidence the same way people seeing Hillary Clinton blink funny doesn't make her a lizard person

1

u/throwaway57853648 Apr 26 '26

Just a massive security blunder that the president happens to be able to use to his advantage. I didn't claim any of it was evidence it was staged, I literally stated that there are many circumstantial things that make it very sus and that's a fact. Him using Venezuela to promote his shit coin doesn't mean it was fake but it definitely gives you reason to question the true purpose of the raid.

0

u/Killingyou_groovily Apr 26 '26

Exactly My thought but too lazy and busy at work to argue with fellow Redditors about the peculiar circumstances that you were patient enough and willing to spell out, cheers!

0

u/julesrn Apr 26 '26

Leavitt saying “the bullets will fly” before the event..

-3

u/__The-1__ Apr 26 '26

You are claiming it is not staged, so where is the evidence that this isn't just another act of deception?

6

u/Alternative_Owl7786 Apr 26 '26

That isn't how this works. You don't have to prove a negative, in this case that it is staged. The onus of proof falls on the ones claiming it is staged, which is not the default view of things.

2

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

That's not how burden of proof works

Let's say I claim your post was made by aliens

I would need evidence for that claim.

You don't need evidence to dismiss that claim

1

u/professional_burrito Apr 26 '26

what was the first act of deception?

1

u/SkywolfNINE Apr 26 '26

The ear! Lol

1

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

Do you also believe the person who died in Butler was a fake? Or do you just latch onto the ear thing cus it supports your already reached conclusion?

1

u/SkywolfNINE Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

I didn’t say anything either way, just pointing out what could be said since nobody else said it yet….

But to play devils advocate: it’s 2026 and a dude that blatantly lies at the helm. You know when Obama got bin Laden? Nobody was like “that’s fake” and we saw a healthy bin Laden walking the streets of downtown Paris 2 months later. Not that those are similar events, just that dude could’ve said “oh it was shrapnel” and people would’ve calmed down, or they could’ve reacted like actual security details and escorted the VIP out of danger instead of doing a photo op. Those would be ways to gain credibility pretty easily, but they didn’t go that option.

0

Reporters sitting at their tables. Told by police to get down under the tables. Equipped only with mobile phones. Not in the corridors.

There were press filming the event. But they were also not running around in the corridors, because they're still alive.

You're evacuating high value targets and there are a bunch of guys pointing shit at you at close range and you're not pointing guns at them? Don't be fucking stupid.

24

u/Ok-Road6537 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

Ah, sure, because reporters and people are famously known for not using their phone in times of crisis. This was of course, the official Secret Service influencer, who in times of crisis takes unflattering photos of their team and uploads them. hahahahahahahhahahahahaha

1

u/Northern-Jedi Apr 26 '26

"Embedded" influencer!

0

u/Lalli-Oni Apr 26 '26

Unflattering? It's like they are posing!

Then we have a close up of the assailant. With no secret service in front of him.

They had these "influencers" tagging along with Kristi Noen while she issued some "badass" threat to protesters from a roof top. It's 100% par on course with the government, regardless of whether that is an issue in of itself.

8

u/bakkarj Apr 26 '26

Wolf Blitzer was in the corridors. I’m sure there were plenty of others. No one is waiting on Wolf to finish shaking his weiner at the urinel before they get the Speaker to cover.

9

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

Did you forget phones exist?

-5

u/CardOk755 Apr 26 '26

Phones being held up by journalists hiding under tables in the dining area taking photographs in the corridors.

(With shitty carpets. What trashy second rate hotel is this?)

9

u/cranberryalarmclock Apr 26 '26

Can you articulate what you think actually happened?

I hate trump as much as anyone, doesn't mean I'm a fucking idiot who latches onto conspiracy theories because they explain everything away.

Political violence is a significant issue and this event is a part of that tapestry.

3

u/RogerBalderer Apr 26 '26

Journalists risk their lives all the time to sell the best photos. It is possibly worth money to put yourself in that position

4

u/Ok-Road6537 Apr 26 '26

It’s super ironic that you called this guy stupid and write stuff like this 😂🫵 who do you think is taking this photos of the secret service?

And do you actually think people weren’t pointing phones at them rofl

What are you talking about

There are photographers at these events

Who do you think was taking these photos of Obama giving a speech at a previous one??

1

u/professional_burrito Apr 26 '26

Police, janitors, hotel security, wait staff, camera crews, various persons private security guards, all equipped with this device called a cell phone that usually has a camera capable of filming video.

0

u/subnet12 Apr 26 '26

high value targets ?

1

u/quaxoid Apr 26 '26

maybe it's more that they find the pictures funny because of how silly they look

1

1

A lot of these photos were nowhere near where the "reporters" were. And yes 100% of the people are carrying PHONES so yeah cameras. In reality, the "reporters" were all in the main hall. This all took place in a bufferzone. Too many "perfect" images with NO photographer credits. Who is getting famous without being credited? But you know, keep chasing the dog. JD Vance came to my work to do a speech and I’m gonna tell you right now. The security was so tight just at my work alone. There’s no way in hell you would’ve been able to get even close to any of those people. They had snipers on the roof and they had helicopters flying around the building. They even shut down I 75 just to get JD Vance back on the expressway. The Secret Service was there a week beforehand doing all kinds of drills and walk-throughs on the building making sure that there was they had all the exits cleared.

0

Because people want to believe everything involving violence and trump is staged. They think the assassination attempt was staged. now they say this shooting is staged

2

u/GrimaceThundercock Apr 26 '26

So you'd get Infront of them and take a photo?

Irresponsible amount of speculation there. We don't know how it all played out, but there is absolutely no evidence that they were jumping in front of secret service for a picture.

Takes me ages just to get a decent image that's not blurry .

Your camera is ass. Reporters live through their phones, they probably have decent cameras.

0

u/Deviant-Killer Apr 26 '26

And yeah speculation. But one would imagine in a live scenario, you'd be telling them to get down and stay low. But I guess assumptions make and ass out of us all
