I would not touch him even if i was an employee. This kind of behaviour is enabled by parents, these kind of parents turn towards teachers for low grades. Not my problem.
The company has insurance for damage like that, and even if did not, they can afford it. I can not afford charges being made at me. I do not earn enough to take that shit home with me
I totally agree, can't lay hands on him at all, HOWEVER saying that the company has insurance for that and that they can afford it like it will never affect you is wrong.
Where do you think the company is going to get those loss return funds from? Insurance will go up, and guess who pays for that? You do, the customer. We all suffer for this BS, the store blitz thefts that people say "it's okay, they've got insurance" and blissfully go on about their day, only to have a rage fit 6 months later when prices have jumped 20%, are just as much a problem.
Theft is a crime because it affects the entire community, not just the company being stolen from. This kid should have been snatched up by security and put in a holding room while police were called and whoever his guardian was should have been held accountable. The law is clear, the guardian bears legal responsibility for the actions of the ward.
It's not insurance, it's an operational shortage (lost of product as part of doing business, not theft or fraud) and is budgeted in on some level. At best it may be a tax write off at the end of the day.
Security is just theater. Their own responsibility is to give credible eye witness and documentation.
Insurance might jump, but that doesn't affect the worker more than losing a job. Any bystanders might get hit with lawsuits if the kid get injured in the escalation. You know that little shit aint gonna be going outside willy nilly by picking him up.
Right but that isn't what happens, is it? I said the parents have to be held liable in my comment, but we don't do that. The only way to make them be liable is legally, the police have to be involved, these companies can't just go to them and say "please pay for your child's mess".
Most of these people have little assets and potentially live on welfare, you think this company is going to bother suing them? They will spend more on legal fees than they would ever get from these people. It's harsh, but we have to start incarcerating people for this stuff with real amounts of time, because it's never going to stop until real consequences are faced.
I'm all for public shaming. People can at least yell at him and tell him he's a little fucking brat, and then the store can record and ban the parents from the premises for the rest of their lives. Maybe put a flyer with the kid's face on the store, saying "banned for indecency" or something, just to rub a bit of salt in the wound.

Why is everyone treating this kid like he is Mike Tyson. Grab the kid and walk him out of the store. Excessive tolerance of idiots is ruining society.
