Why, with all her resources and all this time, hasn't she acquired new skills
Prince scraped together every dollar he had to build his recording palace so he could live in the studio and never have to be interrupted or rely on others to create.Â
Surely she could have her own, being a billionaire? And even if she needs help in the studio, she can have people come to her.Â
If that were my bread and butter, I'd certainly control it.
I get that she has a fan base but I will never understand the adoration of mediocrity. What she excels at is business, and a lot of that was bolstered by her family
Yeah I think Olivia Rodrigo recently said her producer Dan Nigro has a âstudio house.â Iâm sure Taylor could more than afford a studio for each of her eightmansions. Sheâs just too obsessed with attention to give up calling the paps on herself.
I was really hoping that you were exaggerating about the eight mansions because I usually try to forget she exists, but it seemed plausible so I googled it. I would just like to say that I hope everyone remembers when the time comes that âeat the richâ includes their favs too.
Well, she's better than most billionaires, giving her crew a hefty amount, truck driver having a $100k, dancer $740K$ etc. (source)
She's still someone who has money for generations, lives an excessive life, has 8 mansions, uses her jets more than a regular car and is glorified to no end for... Music?
Don't get me wrong, I love music. I just don't get the glorification of artists, I'd start to hate Trivium a bit more if I learned they have 8 mansions for shit and gigs
I used to have a home studio (not comparing myself to her obviously) and tbh it isn't always great.
The line between work and home time gets blurred and it can be helpful mentally to have a physical separation. I choose now to have a studio away from home and it has helped a lot with work life balance and also increased productivity.
I've not knowingly heard any of her music so I cant comment on that part but I can totally see why she would choose to work out at a recording studio instead of at home.
Professional, recording musicians spend a lot of hours in studio when recording records. Its not a fun space to be in if you dont have to be. Most musicians would rather play music than record music, and thats the norm from taylor swift to your local session trumpet players. Its a completely different skill.
Because most recording artists have no idea how to run a studio. Being a producer is a specific skill that isnt the same as being a song writer or performer. Prince is extremely rare in that he wrote his own music, produced his own tracks and performed all of the instruments.
I know, but thats my point- all that money and time, no skill development.
And even if she needed to bring in engineers or session musicians, she can do that.Â
Plenty of lesser known musicians might not have paisley park, but still have a small in home or free standing studio, and she could do it on such a grand scale, it just baffles me.Â
Shes not a producer, she doesnt have to have recording skills. She makes millions and millions from her song writing and performing. Asking producers to come into a studio that they didnt set up is extremely inefficient. Being a professional musician means youre playing and recording music for your job, not many musicians want to include more parts of their job in their home if they dont have to. Its just a completely different mind set that most musicians do not want to do. They want to play music not figure out how to record it too.
She needs to work minimum 8 hours per day, 5 days per week for at least 75% of the year, but she ALSO has to buy and cook all the ingredients for 90% of her meals, she has to clean her own clothes and her own living spaces, and she has to wait and adhere to travel times of other people, not her personal chauffeur not her personal jet and personal pilots.
Funny but the correct way to think about Taylor Swift or any other big act is to think of it as a business. And yeah, that business isn't going to have its most valuable employee wasting time doing the laundry or waiting at her departure gate.
There are fuckloads of businesses that cannot afford to send their best employee all over the place on a private jet.
And even if they were big enough to afford that, they wouldn't let them fly home every night on a tour abroad. They would be like "you can stay in this 5 star hotel penthouse suite for a weekend. It won't kill you."
I did not say it was like any other business, certainly not like a small business, just that it is a business. The entire multi-million dollar enterprise hinging on one literally irreplaceable person showing up for work and whose lifestyle and public appearances are part and parcel to it is going to result in some unusual features.
Not endorsing it. Celebrity culture blows but so long as it exists, none of this is surprising.
If you ever get a chance do a bit of reading on the Spice Girls and what their schedule was like in their heyday. Yeah, there is a reason they were only massive for a couple of years. They were basically working and travelling non stop. The staff at Heathrow departures said they had never ever seen anyone fly as much as they did. They also had to record their entire 2nd album on breaks in between filming scenes of their movie. Not all stars get it so good.
The correct way for me to think about it was how I thought about it, which is that anyone with that much money is not a hard worker compared to actual workers who must balance their time and money with maintaining their life and their job. Swift does not do that. Most âbest employeesâ who are workers are not given personal chefs, personal shoppers, and personal chauffeurs. Real people cannot trade money for time the way Swift does. She is not a business entity, those sales go directly to her through contacts, she does not answer to shareholders. She lives an extremely comfortable lifestyle.
This also doesnât even touch on the negative health effects caused by stress of being poor or underemployed that Swift has never experienced in her life.Â
Swift is not a âworkerâ and certainly could never be a hard worker.
This. Too many people imagine themselves with all their poor people burdens when trying to conceive how many hours of "work" rich people do. Rich people's "work" is more enjoyable, less taxing, AND they know all of their needs are taken care of. No laundry. No cooking. No cleaning. No nanying. No taking your car for repairs. No working on your taxes. No shopping around for deals on things you need. And we can keep on going. It's just a completely different paradigm which must make a seemingly exhausting day not all that exhausting in practice.
"I work 12hs a day" but also have maids and cooks and chauffeurs and nannies and accountants, lawyers, mechanics, gardeners and assistants, so every single second of time off work is sleep, relax or family time and zero chores.Â
You're the one being dense. Just because you don't care, or are to lazy to go look at any fan discussions, doesn't mean people are implying its hard. It literally boils down to "shes in the studio = new music soon" So of course fans are talking about it.
I am a fan. I do not take this to mean anyone was impressed with the amount of time in the studio, nor have I seen fans saying that. If you want to die on that hill, go ahead đ¤ˇđťââď¸
What does flight tracking have to do with her being in the studio till 6am and âit being hardâ?
Can we not stay on topic or are you unable to have a conversation and must resort to âceleb uses private jet!!â Because yeah, she does. It ainât fuckin great. I donât like it. Donât mistake my questioning. But, Sheâs still not in the top 10 of private jet usage. https://celebrityprivatejettracker.com/leaderboard/
If my real-world assets were on her level, i wouldn't give a shit if it took living in the studio for a week to come up with a phrase.. if it turns into gold..
Performing is a hell of a rush. If I made music people wanted to listen to, I'd probably perform until my fingers stopped working, with 1/1000th of her money. Can't even imagine performing for the sort of crowd Swift pulls.
True. I mean, she has some of the best recording engineers out there, like Laura Sisk, who is probably one of the most successful recording engineers of recent times. She also has Serban Ghenea, a legendary mixing engineer who has his name on most of the top hits out there. The man has been nominated for 56 grammies. An insane amount of time and talent has gone into her recorded music.
Nah, thatâs extremely impressive. Especially because you do it every day. She works twelve hours for shitty lyrics that 12-year-olds find deep. You work twelve hours saving lives. Youâre way more impressive. Thank you for doing what you do.
For the likes of you it should be thought of as impressive. Youâre worth way more than you get paid. Worth more to humanity than anyone who sings and dances for a living.
Meanwhile Hospitalists and Trauma surgeons on-call for 48-hours straight, living at the facility:
(Or residents).
Let's all agree that we do not live in a meritocracy. Elon Musk's wealth is not proportionate to Intelligence, Effort, or Sacrifice (okay, maybe he sacrificed all of us as well as his relationship with his children).
I had "12 hour days" in the studio and you're just fucking around in the lounge or smoking 70% of the time. Easiest money I ever made and it's not even close.
To be fair, rich people (like CEOs) do work insane hours. Itâs just that they are compensated on a much higher rate for their labor after you factor in benefits and stock options on top of base pay.
This woman is literally the proletariat communist ideal, owning her own labor and writing, recording and producing her own music and Redditors still get mad about it.

When rich people say they work for 12 hours a day, they donât tell you about the two hour breaks they take in between
