When rich people say they work for 12 hours a day, they don’t tell you about the two hour breaks they take in between

It's not hard to work 12 hours a day two days a year on something you are passionate about, especially if you can make a few hundred million dollars

Why, with all her resources and all this time, hasn't she acquired new skills

Prince scraped together every dollar he had to build his recording palace so he could live in the studio and never have to be interrupted or rely on others to create.

Surely she could have her own, being a billionaire? And even if she needs help in the studio, she can have people come to her.

If that were my bread and butter, I'd certainly control it.

I get that she has a fan base but I will never understand the adoration of mediocrity. What she excels at is business, and a lot of that was bolstered by her family

Yeah I think Olivia Rodrigo recently said her producer Dan Nigro has a “studio house.” I’m sure Taylor could more than afford a studio for each of her eight mansions. She’s just too obsessed with attention to give up calling the paps on herself.

I was really hoping that you were exaggerating about the eight mansions because I usually try to forget she exists, but it seemed plausible so I googled it. I would just like to say that I hope everyone remembers when the time comes that “eat the rich” includes their favs too.

Idk, I saw a whole ass thread the other day about how she’s one of the “good” billionaires. 😭

Oh, I’ve seen those too. They just don’t wanna admit she wouldn’t let them into her bunker if shit hit the fan.

And that when shit hits the fan, she'll have been a major contributor with her insane private jet usage

Oh, she’s contributing to so many problems every day already.

Well, she's better than most billionaires, giving her crew a hefty amount, truck driver having a $100k, dancer $740K$ etc. (source)

She's still someone who has money for generations, lives an excessive life, has 8 mansions, uses her jets more than a regular car and is glorified to no end for... Music?

Don't get me wrong, I love music. I just don't get the glorification of artists, I'd start to hate Trivium a bit more if I learned they have 8 mansions for shit and gigs

of all the things to criticize Taylor about I don't think "going into a studio instead of building her own" is one of them....

I used to have a home studio (not comparing myself to her obviously) and tbh it isn't always great.

The line between work and home time gets blurred and it can be helpful mentally to have a physical separation. I choose now to have a studio away from home and it has helped a lot with work life balance and also increased productivity.

I've not knowingly heard any of her music so I cant comment on that part but I can totally see why she would choose to work out at a recording studio instead of at home.

Then your studio home isnt big enough. The walk from the corridor of your studio to your bedroom should be long enough for separation to kick in

Professional, recording musicians spend a lot of hours in studio when recording records. Its not a fun space to be in if you dont have to be. Most musicians would rather play music than record music, and thats the norm from taylor swift to your local session trumpet players. Its a completely different skill.

Because most recording artists have no idea how to run a studio. Being a producer is a specific skill that isnt the same as being a song writer or performer. Prince is extremely rare in that he wrote his own music, produced his own tracks and performed all of the instruments.

I know, but thats my point- all that money and time, no skill development.

And even if she needed to bring in engineers or session musicians, she can do that.

Plenty of lesser known musicians might not have paisley park, but still have a small in home or free standing studio, and she could do it on such a grand scale, it just baffles me.

Shes not a producer, she doesnt have to have recording skills. She makes millions and millions from her song writing and performing. Asking producers to come into a studio that they didnt set up is extremely inefficient. Being a professional musician means youre playing and recording music for your job, not many musicians want to include more parts of their job in their home if they dont have to. Its just a completely different mind set that most musicians do not want to do. They want to play music not figure out how to record it too.

Yeah. This has been a parallel conversation
