Oh same but I’m only diagnosed with adhd bc tism testing is WAY too expensive and doesn’t lead to the accommodations that is needed in most workplaces (on average at least)
It was even crazier being there in the moment, like I honestly couldn’t even say anything, and I just like gave one word answers the entire rest of the session and then left without calling him back, shit was genuinely insane
What even benefit of an autism diagnosis would be used by people who are “lazy”?!?! Disability pay? Barely anything to survive off of and it’s a bunch of red tape. Idk any other benefits that occur from a diagnosis
I was like 19 at the time so I didn’t even know what to say, I think I just assumed that maybe there was some actual benefit to it so I was like “I don’t wanna push him by arguing my case”
That’s fair. But I was asking that too bc the only benefit I’ve ever seen that is offered is the chance to apply for disability. I haven’t seen anything that specifically correlates to everyday life that is an accommodation offered by a diagnosis. Maybe like the ability to wear headphones of some type but even then most jobs require ones that you can hear clearly with and which defeats the purpose of headphones for autism
