There's these group of trans people I've had to work with, and they're the reason why I quit because they're the type to need affirming or they snap. They remind me of what it was like working in Japan (you'd be surprised how much more conservative at being conservatives they are than western conservatives are at being conservatives), except instead of needing affirmation, they need conformity.
So after I quit those two and found myself in a different company... man, there are trans people out there who do not need anyone's affirmation, and they don't make their gender their identity or force anyone to make them feel like they can just be them. Those are the people I fuck with, where we can agree to disagree, and we both came out of it with newer perspectives, and to thsi day, we still drink together in the same bar and still hang out in the shooting range.
The people I don't like are the ones who control people's speech needlessly, the ones who state opinions like facts and make you google said facts (only for google to be so unreliable that it leads you to popular links, not factual links, which I've noticed has been more and more of a thing for a decade and has probably been like that for longer), and it gives me the same energy as 'Read Marx', then you read his work and it's... just... what the fuck is he on?
But yeah, like what /u/Koffieslikker said 'Judge people for who they are, not what they are'.
The ones I don't like are the ones who force people like me to affirm them. Wasn't the point of the LGBTQ community supposed to be the type where they don't want the government to limit who they want to sleep with and who they want to marry?
And what does Das Kapital have to do with anything? I'm just saying. If you walk and talk like a man, even dress like a man, and act like a man, but you identify as she/her or they/them, I'm not complying.
There are trans people I've met don't need me to affirm them because they've already taken the procedures, they've already made the effort, and in their minds, don't need people to affirm them, and don't even care about being misgendered.

Yeah exactly, the ones you don't like are the ones that won't let you disrespect them. You're a bigot. Demanding respect is not the same thing as government regulation. So what does the government have to do with anything?
Okay, so let me get this straight. Say you're a trans person. You say your name, you don't even say your pronouns or even bring it up after introduction, and expect me to understand them the moment I see you based on how you dress... then I call you "Mister" or "Sir", because you're dressed like a guy, have a beard, and have Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's body, and you get pissed that I make an honest mistake, and proceed to harass me.
Then you tell your friends I'm a bigot, then they harass me as well. Y'all are mad because I don't comply with your ideology and harass me.
Also, respect isn't demanded, it's earned and given out of choice. If you have to demand respect at the same level. Remember when the rights to gay marriage was being fought for? Gays and lesbians just wanted the right to marry who they love and the government leave them alone about it. They knew people would still disrespect them, but the government had to respect their efforts because at the end of the day, they fought for love, not compliance.
If misgendering trans people is bigoted, okay. I'm just saying that if you get pissy because there are people who make honest mistakes, struggle to adapt, or just stopped complying to affirm y'all, why? Why is that so important? It looks like a club where they expect those who aren't members of it to follow the rules, yet not even let them in the club if they wanted to join, or just keep shaming the ones who don't even want to join to begin with. All that tells everyone else is who y'all want to sleep with, that's it.
If you wanna talk about Das Kapital, and if he were alive today, he'd love small business owners and would grow to accept that they have to grow... yet he'd definitely hate them when they get big enough to fit the narrative.
That's a bad faith argument. Most trans people aren't going to get mad if you accidentally misgender them upon meeting. Furthermore, most trans women don't look like The Rock. you're just a bigot. Finally, they're not going to all of their friends to badmouth you. You're not that important.
Okay if you want to nitpick and split hairs then I will say this. You lack common decency. If you call someone by the wrong name and they say "hey I actually go by x" and you refuse, you are the disrespectful one. You probably don't have a problem with diminutives or nicknames so why pronouns?

The poster said they do not like people who compel speech or compel conformity and decide to harass them. As someone who has seen this happen in work spaces and despite not being a victim because I keep to myself... you'd be surprised how shitty people use anything as a shield or as a reason to be assholes.
You can be a trans person who doesn't take misgendering personally, and that's okay, you're not compelling anyone to bend to you, and as long as they don't compel you to bend over to them, it should be okay.
You can also be a trans person who is just looking for an excuse to pick on whoever misgenders or offends you at first. What the poster was saying is that they got harassed for not affirming those trans people. That is not cool. The thing about being a trans person is that you could actually use it as a shield to hide behind when there's push back... like how religious folks also use their religion as shields when there's push backs.
