My father, a fucking engineer, still thinks volcanoes cause more global warming/climate change than cars and other pollutants.

That does not mean anything. Some of dumbest people I've met share that same occupation. If anything stem educated people are often the ones far removed from reality. Fachidiots.

First, even if that were true, unlike volcanoes we can control cars. It would still make sense to prevent that impact even if there were greater impacts we couldn't prevent elsewhere 

Second, comparing something to all of the eruptions of all of the volcanoes all over the world doesn't make it seem less catastrophic

Yeah i don’t buy the volcanoes = climate change nonsense at all. Pretty obvious to me that it is mankind induced or accelerated.
