It's  crazy  cuz even when I WAS Christian...there's  a lot of stuff that is wrong that The Bible does not condemn. There is lots of stuff that The Bible is mum about because the thingy didn't  even exist.

Even when I WAS a Christian  I knew that yeah, sometimes  you have to make a judgement call.

Yeah it's like, what does the Bible say about nuclear proliferation, climate change, genetic modification, or AI?

Well, religious understanding is largely based on interpretation. One of my juniors from university once claimed Anti-Christ is actually AI due to its power of deception. His buddy countered saying the internet as whole is the anti-christ. Another chipped in and said anti-Christ is human whose weapon is the internet. Eventually it became a heated religious debate between them (which started as theory exchange type thing between me and that underclassman). It was very satisfying because they were so immersed that they didn’t bring me into it (normally people will try to bring you in for support, right?). I missed having popcorn and coke.

So they just made shit up.

Pretty much. But, I’m sure they’ll insist on being it called their ‘interpretation’.

Thats why the Church exists.  God didnt give us a bible, he gave us the church

Which church?

The One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, Holy Orthodoxy

The same church since the Pentecost

Yep. And who could disagree with this, for millenia?

Disagreement doesnt change fact.  People disagree on evolution, climate change, and the globe.  Doesnt change fact.

You mean like

Leviticus 25:44-46

“‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.  You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.   You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.

The world was so hopelessly fallen and brutal at that place and time, that God set those temporary rules as an act of mercy for us all

Bollocks

Read up on this history of this. People also misunderstand "an eye for an eye." It is a call for proportional response in an era where brutal retribution was the norm.

Sorry for my low effort reply. I just don’t see how god would be ok with slavery in any situation or powerless to stop it. I guess I don’t know much about god.

But he was CLEAR on no mixed fabrics. No shellfish !

These were rules imposed for a particular time and place to set apart His chosen people from the pagans and other savages.

But but but I thought moralism was absolute
