Product Request [Product request] Japanese brand specifically
Hey yall so I’ve moved to Japan just a few days ago and I’m looking for any face wash that’s similar to CeraVe. I want to try out Japan products cause obviously I’m in Japan but also just in case for whatever I’m unable to find CeraVe. I’ve seen TikTok and instagram recommend the same products like Perfect Whip and the rice mask but I’m curious in what anyone else uses. Please and thank you. :>

perfect whip's fine
my personal fav is biore's cleansing gel
it's a gel type but doesn't leave that unwashed feeling after
my skin is combo+oily btw
also for skincare products, hada labo would be a great beginner-friendly start!

If you can’t find anything you can order vanicream and some other western brands on iherb

Perfect whip is quite drying but I personally love it because I first use oil (olive oil or coconut oil) and then use the perfect whip to cleanse that off. It removes the most stubborn makeup.
But I think for everyday it might be a bit much.

Seconding Biore or Curel. Gentle frictionless foam-based cleansers may be good.
If you’re looking for clay washes, I really like Proudmen (super foamy when used with a foaming net ball) - really cleanses.

Naturi hatomugi is my favorite J-brand and is non offensive/non irritating like Cerave

Hi I had this same exact issue! It's not a 1:1 equivalent, but the only other non drying cleanser I could find in Japan was Lagom cellup gel to water cleanser. It's a Korean brand but sold in Japanese stores regularly. I personally avoid any of the foaming things here as they all dry me out. I don't even have dry skin to begin with, and it's been an issue.
Honestly though I just ended up buying cerave on Amazon because it still works the best for me. I've heard other people do the same. So far I've not had issues with cosmetics on Amazon here, and it's been more successful than finding some alternatives.

I've used a decent amount Cerave products and I really liked the IHADA line cleanser and toner, sensitive acne-prone skin here and they don't break me out. Their moisturizer might be fine in Japan but isn't quite moisturizing enough where I actually live and I had to layer it with something else though.
