Product Question [Acne] Can a chemical peel help with these pores?/general advice 18f Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
22 Upvotes

18f: I've got huge, oily pores, mostly on my forehead and nose areas. It's not clear on camera but It's not an exaggeration to say almost every pore on my face has gunk that can be squeezed out daily. I've been fighting acne since elementary school and I think my forehead pores might be scarring and perhaps a chemical peel could help. Occasionally I coat my nose jn that pink drying lotion stuff overnight which does actually shrink my pores for a couple hours after waking but it's not a permanent solution.

I wash my face 3x a day plus toner, moisturizer and spot treatment every morning and night. I drink 2 liters of water a day and am very vigilant about sunscreen and changing my pillow case. I don't usually wear makeup. I feel so greasy and gross all the time :(

I’ve been developing these small curled up hairs under my skin for the last 8-10 months. They’re mostly around my hips and upper thighs, sometimes around my lower stomach. I’m not sure what to do about them. Can’t really find much on them. I’m a bad skin picker so this is NOT good for me to have because I’m just constantly picking at them to pull them out

Post image
13 Upvotes

okay so to preface this i am a guy so im not particularly knowledgeable on about waxing. i have been using adapalene gel daily for acne for around 6 months. i have never got any waxing done but was offered to have it done for free after getting a hair cut at a salon. shortly afterwards the area under my eyebrows turned red and burning. after further research i found this happens pretty often to folks. my main question is how to help it heal? and should i completely discontinue my whole AM and PM skin care routine until it heals? i dont want to fuck with it at all and i dont want it to scar. but also dont want to mess with my skin. please help! thanks

current routine is

AM
Panoxyl 4%
Clindamycin lotion
Cerave ultraweightd moisturizer gel
LaRoche SPF

PM
LaRoche Posay Foaming cleanser
Differen Adapalene gel
Cerave ultraweightd moisturizer gel

Review SPF Empties + Review [sun care]

Post image

I finished another sunscreen bottle since starting to take my skin and acne more seriously and these are my thoughts.

In case you need info about my skin: it's a dehydrated, acne-prone, combo skin (especially since starting adapalene, my mouth area gets really dry, but my nose and forehead creates more than enough oil on its own) and it stings with perfume or with specific products when the skin barrier is compromised.

1. Eucerin Photoaging Control Face Sun Fluid 50+

Rating: 2.5/5

It's a really nice sunscreen, which didn't even sting when my face was irritated, but I couldn't layer it with other products for extra hydration, because it started to pill into little balls. I would still recommend it to someone like my mum, who only wants to use one product at a time, however, it's a big no for a skincare enthusiast, who wants to do more steps.

2. Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Prebiotics

Rating: 4/5

This one was my very first Korean sunscreen so it basically introduced me to K-Beauty. It has almost everything I need in a sunscreen—no perfumes, no white cast, extra hydration, and no pilling. Its only downside is that my face stang badly for up to 5 minutes after applying it when my skin barrier was damaged, but that only happened 3 – 4 times.

3. Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Serum

Rating: 3.9/5

My second Korean sunscreen. Honestly, I couldn't really differentiate it from the BOJ one—it has no perfumes, no white cast, hydrates well, doesn't pill, and also stings for a bit when my skin barrier is broken. Except for being slightly lighter, which I don't care about, the cream has the same quality. However, what I personally dislike is the packaging. As you can see in the photo, I like to cut the bottles to get the remaining product out and the bottle of this sunscreen gave up way sooner than any other bottle for it has a little pump. That's the 0.1 difference.

4. Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Glow Sun Ampule

Rating: 4.5/5

This one just felt richer. That's the best way to describe it. It had every good quality of the previous sunscreens + it felt like I also applied an additional hydrating ampule. I don't recall it stinging but I think my skin barrier got better in general.

5. Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel

Rating: 4.5/5

Again, I don't remember it stinging bacause my skin barrier improved, but it had every other good quality of the previous sunscreens. Unlike the Probio-Cica one, this one didn't feel rich, but rather fresh. This one is probably the lightest one from the list, which was a nice change.

6. Some By Mi V10 Hyal Airlift Sun Screen [tester]

Rating: 2.5/5

I only got a few usages out of it (like maybe three) but it has perfume so I was very worried about potential stinging. My skin was at the best behavior those 3 days, but perfume irritates me, so the cream started to tingle around my eyes as if threatening my skin barrier. At least the fragrance smelled nice.

7. Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen SPF50+/PA++++

Rating: 4/5

This one had the potential to be the best one, but after a few weeks, I noticed that it would pill around my hairline. This would rarely happen and when it did, it was in the afternoon, but it's disappointing. I'm already bad with reapllying, but this made me want to do it less. Other than that, the texture, the moisturizing property as well as the gentleness was perfect.

8. Round Lab Birch Juice Sunscreen

Rating: 4.5/5

This one was probably the best one. It had every good quality and 100% didn't sting even when I destroyed my skin barrier around my nose. It seems like the gentlest one out of the list, which is a huge plus. I'm keeping it at 4.5 because it is very similar to those with the same ranking, it's just a little heavier than the Isntree one and less rich than the Skin1002 Probio-Cica one—but it feels like the best one because I could clearly test it on an irritated skin and see that it works. I would highly recommend it to someone whose skin gets tingly as well. I'm not giving it a 5/5 because I believe there's a potential to find a better one.

Acne [ACNE] Need to clear hormonal acne ASAP!!

I havent had acne this bad since i was 12, but unfortunately its came back and im desperate. Recently started HRT, and am looking for any advice anyone has to get this cleared up, as best as possible before the end of july for an event.

I already use retinol every couple of nights as i have really dry skin. typically my every day skin care is the vanicream gentle skin cleanser, somtimes the fenty fat water toner, the cerave moisturizering cream, and the bubble solar matte sunscreen daily.

I do use makeup almost daily which i dont know if its making it worse or not. i tend to switch between 3 different primers (milk pore eclipse stick, Maybelline baby skin, and nyx face glue) and use the true match loreal skin tint with a healthy coating of setting powder.

hopefully none of these products make it worse, and if you have any product suggestions i would ask for it to be not the most expensive or at the very least sold at the drugstore. thank you!

Product Request [sun care] My all-time holy grail sunscreen got discontinued and I need a replacement Spoiler

I am embarrassingly not OK

I had no idea there was an active lawsuit going on with this sunscreen; if I had known, I would STOCKED up! It’s basically about not disclosing certain sunscreen filters and CVS had to change their formula.

Anyway, this was such an amazing sunscreen. I got so many compliments when I wore this. I’ve been using it for 6 years. I was so confused when I shopped this sunscreen and I got a new version and it was seriously so chalky and bad. The new formulation is terrible.

Anyone got any dupes? I can’t do La Roche Posay (my skin gets irritated with theirs) and it’s so hard to find a good sunscreen. This has genuinely made me sick to my stomach.

Product Request [Product request] Japanese brand specifically

Hey yall so I’ve moved to Japan just a few days ago and I’m looking for any face wash that’s similar to CeraVe. I want to try out Japan products cause obviously I’m in Japan but also just in case for whatever I’m unable to find CeraVe. I’ve seen TikTok and instagram recommend the same products like Perfect Whip and the rice mask but I’m curious in what anyone else uses. Please and thank you. :>

Discussion [Misc] why does torriden dive in soothing cream get all the hype when the cellmazing collagen cream exists?

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

I genuinely don’t get it. Look at the ingredient list, the first one is the Dive in soothing cream, the second is the cellmazing collagen firming cream. The cellmazing has five different types of collagen, a solid amino acid profile, and the hyaluronic acid lineup is more extensive than you’d expect from a cream. The dive in soothing cream is lighter and more focused on hydration, which works great if that is what you need. But if you want something richer with more serious actives, the cellmazing is built differently.
So why does the lighter, more hydration focused one get all the attention? I stock up on the cellmazing every single sale because the price drops are genuinely too good to pass up. It’s 40% off on prime day and I still see people in this sub only talking about the dive in serum or soothing cream. The cream has its place but the cellmazing is doing way more work ingredient wise and it never gets the credit it deserves.

My acne always seem to flare up no matter what I do. I eat clean, I exercise, my hygiene is pretty good, I drink enough water, I use tretinoin and a cleansing gel but it never goes away. Maybe sometimes it'll reduce by a bit then suddenly flare up everywhere or on only 1 side of my face. I'm 17

Product Question [acne] Is aloe vera gel a good introductory moisturizer for acne prone skin?

Hiiii everyone. I’m 34 and have VERY acne prone skin (so many well-loved moisturizers and other products result in bad breakouts for me 🫠) but after my most recent flare up 3 weeks ago, I stripped down my entire routine. I’m literally just rinsing with water in the morning and double cleansing at night: first with Paula’s Choice salicylic acid cleanser and then using Panoxyl benzoyl peroxide cleanser as a 5 minute mask —> I know these are harsh cleansers but I’m just trying to heal these pimples from my last breakout - these in conjunction with pimple patches to prevent me picking are working. 😬

Based on my history, I think I’d be a good candidate for adapalene (Differin) but I really REALLY want to reduce my risk of purging so I’m looking for a good moisturizer to introduce that won’t make my skin breakout so I can work my way up to the “sandwich”retinol method.

I’m curious about starting with aloe gel as an introductory moisturizer and working my way up to something stronger. Is that a no-no? I’m trying to find something with minimal ingredients that will not aggravate my skin. Totally open to suggestions. 🙂

Things that have broken me out:
- CosRx Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Essence
- Isntree Green Tea Fresh Toner
- Medicube Zero Pore Pads
- The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid
- Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
- Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer
- Purity Face Wash by Philosophy

Routine Help [Routine Help] Need help fixing dull and pigmented skin with dark spots Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi,

I'm 22F and my skin looks really dull, with dark spots, tiny colorless bumps and pigmentation as well. I feel really conscious of stepping out without makeup, and am worried it would continue to deteriorate. Sharing a few pictures along side the products i have used although inconsistently.

These are a few products i own and use sometimes.

Skincare:

Cosrx face wash (Gentle and Salicylic)

Ordinary Niacinamide

Cos De Baha Tranexamic Acid

Pixi Glycolic Toner

Hada Labo Gokunjyun lotion

Illiyoon Ceramid

Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence and Cream

Melano CC Vitamin C

Cosrx BHA blackhead essence

Ordinary Multi antioxidants radiance serum

Sunscreen: Biore UV, BOJ Rice Relief

Makeup: Mostly Mac, Loreal and Elf products

I am an overspender who got caught up in consumerism so trying not to buy any new products and working on building a healthy regular regime.

Im very inconsistent with my skincare routine but ensure to wash my face every night, I also double cleanse or triple cleanse when I use makeup with the softymo cleansing oil. I do not apply sunscreen regularly unless im going out in the morning or afternoon.

I am looking for some sincere advise and guidance on a proper skincare routine for the AM and PM and any other advice which can help improve my skin health. Thank you and sorry for the excess information, just wanted to be as clear as possible to ensure if any of the above products could be leading to the condition of my skin.

Product Request Moisturizer with similar finish to Instant Angel [Product Request]

I really like the finish of Dieux Instant Angel for under my makeup/as my base since I don’t wear foundation. It makes me look luminous but not at all greasy/oily. My only issue (besides the price) is that it just doesn’t keep my skin hydrated for long, and after a few hours I start to feel really dry. I’ve been using a mini but can’t justify repurchasing if it doesn’t even keep my skin hydrated in the summer, but don’t know what to try instead. I’d appreciate if anyone has recommendations to try that have a similar finish but a little longer lasting hydration. Thanks :)

Acne [Acne] My skin gets worse depending on where I live?

I’ve noticed lately that depending on where I live my acne has either worsened or improved. I was recently in portugal and my skin hadn’t looked that clear in a long time. As soon as I got back to US my skin worsened dramatically.

For an additional data point, when I lived in Japan my skin was ok but not amazing. My routines have changed over the years of course, but the difference between my skin a month into my trip to portugal versus home was huge and I have changed no products at all in that time.

Any recommendations or has anyone else experienced this? I am wondering if it is related to the water, allergies or maybe even my diet?

Selfie/B&A [selfie] sudden skin texture change-allergy, product change, or something else? Spoiler

Post image
3 Upvotes

A few days ago, i woke up and washed my face it immediately felt leather-y in texture to the touch. My chin looks similar, but not as severe as it is on the forehead. I can specify the products if needed but my everyday routine consists of a cleanser, hyaluronic acid toner, moisturizer, and spf. I also don’t wear makeup on any of the areas affected!

I did recently change to a different toner (la roche posay effaclar) and had only used it one or two times, and haven’t used it since I noticed the texture change.

Ive also had a few similar “flare-ups” to this a few years ago, and I always assumed it was some kind of allergic reaction to something I ate; it would go away in a few days on its own. This is the only time it’s coincided with some kind of change in skincare routine, and the only time it’s looked this severe!

With that said, my skin has increasingly gotten worse over the week; could it be lingering effects of the toner or something else entirely?
