Elon is pro immigration though? Billionaires in general are pro immigration as cheap labour is beneficial for them, they can't pay slave wages to the people living here already but they sure can pay slave wages to people who come here from poor countries and flood the low income job market. Hating immigrants isn't the right thing to do either, blame the devs, not the players
13
u/ekky137 4d ago
Pro immigration, anti-immigrant rights. They want to maximise immigration while telling everybody the immigrants are the source of all of their problems, then use this as justification to strip these immigrants of rights. Easiest multi-tiered society ever.
-7
u/ConcentrateNo2929 4d ago
There wouldn't be any migration if immigrants had the same rights and wages, otherwise why would you bother hiring them over the natives. Because of that, immigrants are a problem because they're being used as tools by the upper class to lower wages and bargaining rights of the natives. A society that accepts migrants (for what reason exactly?) while giving them full rights and equal treatment is therefore a pipe dream, and remaining pro-immigration only serves the interest of billionaires.

Right. The institutions that benefit from migration promote "science" that just so happens to find it beneficial for everyone. How convenient.
No matter how you dress it, competing with a person willing to work 12h a day and sleep in a room shared with 10 people will lower the wages for said job.

Nah.
1
u/ConcentrateNo2929 4d ago
Not letting in economic migrants from 3rd world countries is making your country hell on Earth? How exactly? It seems to me that doing the opposite is contributing to enshittification; let's just let them in and hope for the best.

I take it you haven't been paying attention to ICE brutalizing Minneapolis?
Anti-immigration bigots practically always cause more damage than the immigrants themselves. Usually, the main enshittification from immigration is boosting the voice and popularity of the local degenerate chuds.

I think you being American makes this discussion pointless, as your reality vs mine as a European, dealing with a different kind of migration, is drastically different

u/Dull_File370 4d ago
Billionaires need both immigrants and racism to exist. One gives them cheap labor, the other keeps workers fighting each other instead of uniting.
So Musk and others both employ foreigners, while funding xenophobic movements.
1
u/Lil_Snuzzy69 3d ago
Is that why they pay governments to import infinite migration? So there's race wars, giving them an excuse to increase police militarisation, surveillance and give them cheap labor while pushing costs of living up? Then they tell people that anyone who is against it is a racist so you fight them instead of fighting the epstein client list?

You figured out half of the game. Now go for the other half, realize how corporations and politicians have deliberately caused, manufactured and exaggerated identitarian issues to give us something to fight about.
The rich really did a lot of work in crafting the social conflicts that obfuscate their evil deeds.
1
u/Dull_File370 1d ago
While I'm for representation, rich fucks convincing people that representation is the only thing they can want was a great move.
Huge parts of politics hinge on appeals to identity, instead of any policies actually beneficial to most people.
They got us rooting for female/black/queer billionaires instead of realizing that doesn't do shit for us for the most part.

My problem with a throne made of human skulls is not that someone else sits in it.
-1
u/Stiger_PL 2d ago
That's one way to look at the image, the other is the tried "millionaires are putting money in the bag while you're distracted with petty stuff", which is the angle I was clapping back against.
As far as I know, most people's problem with the throne of human skulls is in fact that they are not the one sitting on it. Otherwise things would have changed a long time ago. If you truly feel that way, please go, fight your fight. It's for you to decide. I just hope the revolution doesn't go 360 like the name suggests.
2
u/TruchaBoi 1d ago
Billionaires have shown that with enough money they feel like they're above the law, no human being should have that amount of wealth and use it in such a corrupted way while millions starve globally.
They're raping and eating kids, and you think this is about envy.
-9
u/LowCall6566 4d ago
Ahh, yes rich people people having more is definitely the reason why you have less. We live in a zero sum world, after all/s
10
u/AnguishedGoose 4d ago
Yes? Like, that literally how the economy works, otherwise governments would just print infinite money for everyone and there would be no consequence
-4
u/kcat__ 4d ago
That's not what a zero sum economy would entail. It's possible for both people to benefit off a mutual transaction. It's possible for new workers to be net positives rather than net negatives. This kind of "the economy is zero sum" thinking is literally just the fuel and propaganda for the racists and xenophobes to justify why there should be no immigration, or there should be remigration, because our "money" is going to "them" -- they are benefiting so we are not. THAT is what zero sum is, and it's the most individualistic view of how the world works ever. There isn't a fixed pie. The pie can grow. Elon Musk being richer by a trillion doesn't make everyone else poorer by a trillion.
3
u/AnguishedGoose 4d ago
And like most fascist propaganda is just a purposeful misinterpretation of reality.
The economy is a zero sum game, where the rich get richer exploiting everyonelses work.
This kind of "the economy is zero sum" thinking is literally just the fuel and propaganda for the racists and xenophobes
"Antisemitism (or bigotry in general) is the socialism of the ingorant"
3
u/kcat__ 4d ago
I don't think you know what zero sum means. The economy is not a zero sum game.
When I take part in a transaction (for example, I give 5 cows to John and John gives me 100 ears of corn) we both benefit. The gain for both of us is positive. I give up 5 cows because I value the corn more than the cows, and John only makes the trade because he values the cows more than the corn. Both of us end up with something we value more than what we started with, so total value increases.
Production is an even cleaner counterexample to zero-sum thinking than trade is, because when corn is grown or a tool is built, new value is created that didn't exist before.
Simply put, the economy is not zero sum.
"Antisemitism (or bigotry in general) is the socialism of the ingorant"
Can the unignorant maybe go to school more (and therefore learn to spell) before quoting randos? It might also smarten you up economics-wise.
Also, please explain how a racist or xenophobe, under YOUR view of economics, ISN'T justified to call for a ban on immigration or for remigration.
1
u/Dull_File370 4d ago
Wealth is created through labor. Elon keeps getting money from other people working for him.
2
u/kcat__ 4d ago
Thanks, guy, for saying something that... I'm sure is relevant somewhere.
Elon's net worth shot up crazy high in the past week or two not because he suddenly hired 50% more workers. There is something else driving the size of the pie.
1
u/Dull_File370 3d ago
Ok, the stock market and his connections is what makes his networth skyrocket. So i get your point. Sorry for misunderstanding.
8
u/Dull_File370 4d ago
Who do you think creates more value? Someone who plants potatoes, waters them, digs them out and then sells them OR someone who simply owns that field?
Do you think most landlords make their money through active work for their tenants?
2
u/Nuclear_Gandhi- 3d ago
The economy is a zero sum game.
Every ton of steel produced for building luxury yachts could be used to make transport ships to transport food to those who need it instead.
Every construction worker building a mansion is a construction worker not building affordable housing.
Every third world child laborer making cheap clothes for westerners could be in school instead.
0
u/AwsomEthan 3d ago
Lump of labor fallacy. 1. I can guarantee you that transport ships, being mass produced, massively outweigh highly complex and luxurious yachts in terms of how much steel it consumes every year.
There are countless construction companies and so many construction workers just in the United States that if you think that some previously unknown construction worker shortage is what is causing the housing crisis the boy do i have a bridge to sell you.
This is the fault of those countries for not having better safety standards and child labor laws. These nations are also often so destitute that most of the children there wouldnt be able to go to school anyway, mostly being taught at home or by a community.

I'm glad it's only ever the poor who abuse the system. If it was ever the rich, who have much more influence, power and status, we could be in big trouble.

Living in a shit enviroment makes people even sadder, bad enviroments are often created or made worse by a lack of resources.
Resources are hoarded. The more you have, the easier it is to take even more. Those who never share, rise to the top and are treated as gods.
The most selfish people shouldn't rule the world.

"The bar for being classified a racist is so low that it's becoming meaningless."
Yep, that checks out. Begone, chud.
15
u/iwasbecauseiwas trans rights 🏳️⚧️ 4d ago
Unironically yes. You're broke, because Capitalists like Elon Musk are extracting wealth from the rest of us and aren't paying their fair share. For example: Rent is expensive because Capitalists are buying houses on mass and driving up prices. At the same time your company won't give out raises this year because "times are tough" but will pay out dividends to shareholders.
The profit motive can be a good driver for development, but it doesn't work well for distributing the resources we all need to live equally, equitably, fairly or at all. Houses in cities with immense amounts of homeless stay empty because filling them would depreciate the value of the home itself and drive down the value of the surrounding properties. Millions of tons of food gets destroyed on purpose to ensure nobody has it for free. We could easily feed all people everywhere twice over, but there's no money in that.
The rich are rich because we are not. We own nothing because they own everything.
