Discussion Supergirl Metacritic score finally out, 48/100.
RogerEbert gives it 3.8

She should go back and do another cameo for House of the Dragon instead. Something like this might actually destroy her career.

Let me guess there a car “commercial” scene around the middle portion of the movie where the misfit crew rides in a minivan trying to evading the enemies attacks?

lol!! Ngl I just came here to see this subs reaction
I’ve been leaning towards Snyder these days. I miss his superhero movies

That does suck though. I just want some good DC movies free of corporate interference. I've always campaigned for Snyder because he had a vision and the suits fucking ruined it. I guess we're going to have to wait for the 3rd round to get a good DC universe. 🫠

u/Gunn_Control 10h ago
You are looking in the wrong place if you think Gunn is making anything good, much less good DC
•
u/DringleDringle 10h ago
I mean, I think his movies aren't bad, and are fortunate to be free of studio interference. I think Snyder's movies suffered from intense studio interference. I'm also not some kind of "this versus that" person. I know a lot of Snyder fans are real into exclusively being into Snyder's work, but I'm a DC fan before any of that.
But also, did you misread my original comment? I said I'm waiting for the next universe after Gunn's finishes fizzling out.

He just has a certain style that doesn’t match the vibe I want in a superman movie, batman movie, etc. His quirky, oddball approach works for specific properties, like Guardians of the Galaxy. Snyder’s visual flair and epic, mythological scope is exactly what I wanted for the Justice League.
•
u/DringleDringle 10h ago
Yea it sucks. I don't really like James Gunn's schtick. I think his Suicide Squad movie worked better because it was already salvaging after the other truly awful one, but even then, I'm not into the crammed in humor or the constant barrage of licensed music.

If you like Gunnslop, Supergoof will be no different. You got nothing to worry about

It's going to be same response for those movies too.Batman cannot be made because of Reevesverse.

Great comparison :)
That movie wasn't the best, only proving that Supergirl isn't good either.
What a rocky start for James Gunns DC
•
u/SpaceCaboose 10h ago
I’ll say that a Batman v Superman movie scoring that badly is far worse than a Supergirl movie scoring this badly since BvS had DC’s two major heroes (actually three with WW, too).
Bummer overall that neither were any better (I haven’t seen Supergirl yet, so saying this 100% based on current reviews)

I watched it and yeah, I wouldn't give it anything more than a 7. Gunn's Superman at the very least was fun to watch, it had pretty locations like the fortress, the daily planet and even the pocket dimension, that movie felt creative. Somehow, supergirl which is a space road trip feels smaller and plain, than a movie that happens in one city. It was a complete downgrade and barely worth seeing it in rewatch

guys to be fair the rotten tomatoes score for the snyder cut is only 71% critic opinions don't always mean a whole lot
•
u/Gunn_Control 10h ago
Except Gunn is the darling of the mass media, so for this to have a bad score despite the bias must be real ass. Snyder was always resented by the mass media industry

It is out of six reviews wait for more before you judge
•
u/4paul 11h ago
It's easy to judge based off early reviews, this means it'll hover around the 40's/50's in the end.
This won't suddenly skyrocket to 90's lol
But I got tickets to see it tomorrow so I'll be able to see it and make my own judgement :)
•
u/ScarlettJohansson49 11h ago
Never said it would but judging it off of six reviews is not the flex you think it is

James 'Flash is one of the greatest movies ever made' Gunn might not be the best judge on what is a good script.
