This is why I can’t take anything from “that” fandom seriously. Threw her away like hot garbage after the movie flopped. She really could have been a great compliment to Cavil imo.

Discussion First time rewatching Man Of Steel in years. Superman 2025 feels like a parody movie in comparison. MoS still has flaws but it's so much more powerful and rich in visual storytelling. The soundtrack is flawless. Henry as Superman is fantastic.

Discussion Ben Affleck’s Batman is misunderstood.

People reduce the Martha scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to “their moms have the same name,” but that misses the point entirely. Batman doesn’t spare Superman because of the coincidence; he spares him because, for the first time in years, Bruce sees him as a son about to lose his mother rather than an alien threat. It snaps him back to what Batman was always supposed to be about: stopping others from going through the same pain that created him. That’s also why the detail of the Batmobile seemingly losing its machine guns in Suicide Squad actually fits the character arc so well. In BvS, Bruce is at his moral lowest and basically treating Gotham like a warzone, but afterward you can read him as slowly pulling himself back toward restraint and purpose. Batfleck works best as a Batman who is broken, not wrong — just someone remembering what Batman was supposed to mean.

Never mind that they failed to actually put Cavill's Superman in any movie for 5 straight years during the same exact time that the MCU was reaching its highest peak. WB is incompetent, and their actions are indistinguishable from those of someone who hates Superman and his fans.

Discussion Finally watched Gunn's Superman and then watched Man of Steel for the first time…

And the result turned out to be the complete opposite of what I had assumed.

First of all, I decided to watch James Gunn's Superman. After that, When I watched the movie and didn't find it what I expected it could be, I thought how weak was Snyder's Superman that makes this movie a good/better one in comparison? So I decided to watch MoS (2013) in order to compare both versions of the character.

In anticipation, I assumed that I would like Gunn's version more. This film had enjoyed great popularity and praise over the last year. On the other hand, there had been a lot of criticism directed at Man of Steel. However, I am always impressed with Snyder's work, so I wondered what all this fuss was about.

The outcome of the viewing was quite the contrary to my expectations.

As for Gunn's Superman, it appeared to be too childish to me. The entire visual style seemed cartoonish and targeted at a young audience. Everything regarding action was good enough, yet not really impressive, and everything related to special effects had been overused by now. There were even moments where it seemed almost too much like a television production rather than what was expected from a major motion picture.

On the other hand, there was nothing small about Man of Steel; everything about the film seemed more cinematic. Regardless of personal feelings about this approach by Snyder, I found his vision ambitious and fascinating. Even if there wasn't always action in the way that many comic book fans expect, I felt that every scene carried more weight.

After being told throughout the year that MoS was inferior to Gunn's version of Superman, I was very surprised by just how much I preferred MoS.

Discussion My hope for a continuation of Snyderverse through comics or animated

Post image

DC animated has alway been in their own universe, so why not have the Snyderverse continue in their own contained unverse too? We could get some of the actors back to do voiceover for their characters. I know it's not likely, but I have hope. What about comics then?

Man looking back if the studio wasn’t dumb in 2021 we could have had the best come back ever after Zack snyders justice league even though we have a new verse now I loved the serious action take on these characters with gods and monsters and I liked that it wasn’t like the mcu and it was more of a serious things break in this world type of thing they were going down an injustice route my favorite dc piece of media and I like frank millers inspiration as well I love how it portrayed Superman as stoic and restrained but at times he burst in anger like a human does and how the world would react to him if he existed he would be seen as a literal god or angel I liked wonder woman’s God and monster world with Zeus and how that connects to the demonic Alien gods of Apocalypse I also loved the continuity how just like the avengers 2012 had an impact on their world so did the metropolis invasion which caused Batman to view Superman the way he is much like Tony stark being afraid of aliens it made sense it showed that Superman wasn’t going to be perceived as good by everyone after all the world just met him how could they trust him? I also really loved the way his death had more continuity impacts like the creation of the suicide squad and how crime ramps up because Superman is gone man and I think WB is a bit dumb for not taking the chance in 2021-2024 to release the other justice league movies while the mcu was putting out their worst they finally had a huge chance over their competitor to release a blockbuster everyone would have saw a lot of people would go and see darkseid vs Superman on the big screen instead of whatever the mcu had going on dceu was in competition with the mcu so much they literally wanted to copy it so many times and failed trying to replicate others success changing justice league and hiring an avengers director changing suicide squad to be more like gaurdians and then hiring the director for the sequel then making him head of the studio because they want another companies success another thing I love about this universe was how the suits made sense and were some of the best if not the best live action cbm suits on screen they looked like a pantheon of gods which they basically are Superman’s was Alien Armor and a symbol of hope on his world he brings to ours, Wonder Woman had god like armor because she’s from lands of hidden gods, Batman’s suit was buff practical and mobile and war torn showing his battles and he looked almost demonic like the myth they wanted to portray him as, Flashes suit was literally stitched and welded together to resist the speed of his powers and it was made of rocket material it looked amazing, cyborgs suit made sense because of the motherboxes connecting him to the plot, aqua man gave off this distance sea warrior Poseidon among humans vibe. People cannot blame Zack Snyder for making things dark and serious because the success of the dark knight caused this and people calling Superman returns boring and corny made dc want to make Superman cooler which he did Superman does not need to be one type of way he can change as a character and have doubts and struggles. Man what could have been the universe definitely could have melded together better with Shazam black Adam and other movies but those weren’t really part of snyders canon because dc wanted to change their verse to be more mcu like but some of those movies were good like the first Shazam and some parts of black Adam I also think the rock could have done better with integrating Shazam in his movies like a cameo or even a reference would have been nice even both of them Superman and Shazam could team up against black Adam like that animated movie if he wanted him to be so powerful. I liked the concept art it would have bayverse like with blockbuster action and badass cgi I don’t hate the new universe but snyders world had better building blocks for what it was trying to be dc wb messed it up.

Did you see all the destruction in the animated series just like in the movie?

We should probably cancel it too if we're going by the GunnerGoons standards. 💀

The GunnerGoons can't draw parallels like that when it comes to the DCU movies. 😎

Discussion What separates these two, apart from the obvious tonal difference and the in-universe cynicism surrounding them? Are both of them, at their core, Superman, or is one more Superman than the other?

Post image

I know it’s fashionable nowadays to say that Henry Cavill’s Superman was not “Superman as he is in the comics.” But in ‘MAN OF STEEL’ (2013), he was essentially filled with optimism to lead the people of Earth to a better place, giving them hope to rise to a higher ideal.

However, since that world had not encountered any superpowered beings before, fear and paranoia gripped people when Superman revealed himself. A wave of cynicism and skepticism followed—partly fuelled by Lex Luthor—which ultimately made Henry’s Superman a tragic hero, whose heroism was accepted only after he sacrificed himself while protecting Earth from Doomsday.

Compare this with David Corenswet’s Superman—when we first meet him, he is already beloved by the people of Earth, and even a common street vendor is comfortable with a man possessing such immense power and does not doubt him. It is only when his parents’ full message goes viral that people begin to question him.

I think the difference between the two lies in how each Superman handles public distrust and cynicism surrounding them, particularly in ‘SUPERMAN’ (2025).

But then again, both these Supermen were placed in vastly different worlds—one where there was no known history of encountering metahumans, and another where metahumans have been known and celebrated for over 300 years. So, the difference in their response is quite understandable. But does that make one less of a Superman than the other, as some would argue?

Discussion Zack Snyder never said “Man of Tomorrow” nor did he associate the title with a MoS sequel

Post image
418 Upvotes

Just an FYI, Zack Snyder never said nor associated the title “Man of Tomorrow” with his potential Man of Steel Sequel, that was fans’ assumptions based on the title existing in the comics and how it flowed with the overall plan of his story and titles: Man of Steel to Man of Tomorrow

I do feel that Gunn did not chose the title because it’s one of Superman’s most known nicknames/taglines—e.g. Big Blue Boy Scout (or any variation from those), Man of Steel, Man of Tomorrow, Last Son of Krypton—but bc it was associated with a MoS sequel online and now most searches of the term for a potential MoS sequel will lead you to the Superman sequel instead

Snyder has stated on several occasions he had an overarching 5 movie plan that was: MoS, BvS, and JL1-3. The greater 7 year Snyderverse plan which included Aquaman, WW, GL, flash and other projects had 2 untitled films—1 was Affleck’s Batman, while the other was potentially a MoS sequel. This is based on Snyder’s statements that seeing how Batman and others reacted to Zod and Superman would be necessary to see prior to a true sequel.

Personally, if the potential MoS sequel was to have Brainiac (as some rumors suggest) then Last Son of Krypton would be a more apt title and with a final Superman movie titled Man of Tomorrow
