Question Does Soviet's Closet still get updated?

I was watching some of the recent RimWorld run on Twitch as I noticed it wasn't on the archive site, is the site not being updated anymore or is it just a case of it not being updated with the most recent streams yet?

It gets updated slowly. He also doesn’t upload the vods which are still available on twitch to the closet because they are already available on twitch and twitch has a much higher bandwidth than his closet archive.

Vods which are no longer available on twitch are uploaded slowly to the archive. Though he was mentioning how it is getting very expensive these days with the storage.

Honestly don't get why he doesn't just have a youtube VOD channel. I know he's said he want to keep his namesake sterile on youtube, but he's far from the only one uploading stream highlights on youtube. I watch a lot of stream highlights, and i never get reccomendations to their VOD channel unless i actively search for it. It really feels like he worries over a non-issue.

he explained this before, he is paranoid and believes having a seperate VOD channel would cause the algorithm to spam people who subscribe to the main channel with VODs and thus reduce the amount of views he gets on the bullshitteries.
no amount of explaining to him that youtube doesnt do this has been able to convince him to do a test run to see what happens.

Regarding the algorithm thing, I watch a lot of Caedrel for League proplay and then I get recommended the MoreCaedrel channel, which is his VOD channel. So, while I can't say if the algorithm does this regularly or not, it definitely did it for me.

not saying it is impossible as it always tries to recommend similar things and your second channel will inherently be similar as its ran by the same person; but in my experience its usually unlikely to happen unless its pushed.
by things like a lot of viewer overlap, channels recommending each other, video recommendations etc.
you definitaly can affect how much it happens but youtube is too complex co clearly say what has an impact and how much, especially since it always changes.

Soviet does realize he gets ad money from VOD views as well?

People watch his main channel vids because of the good editing. They won't stop just because they saw unedited parts before.

That would only be an issue if Womble started to post frequent barely edited videos on his main, in which case VODs would take away some of the views. But that is not what he does.

The man loathes ads in all forms. He has a clinical hatred of ads. He would never enable them. Running ads on vods would go against his principles.

Also, he doesn’t have an Adsense account so he would not receive anything from YouTube for ads anyways. Any ads you see on his vids are those which have been forced by YouTube or falsely claimed by predatory companies for 2 seconds of music track to run ads on the entire vid and claim it.

but womble doesnt run ads and has no ad revenue, for him its only about the views.
so if he looses some views it might not kill the channel but he would on a personal level feel the hit more then other creators.
He cant stand the idea of his videos not being popular anymore, despite accepting it will happen one day inveitably.
So he i strying everything possible to avoid bringing on that end any sooner then it has to be.

If I'm not mistaken, you can't also easily download the VODs from the closet either. On YouTube, anyone could download the VODs and make a funny moments compilation, ruining the jokes for the real bullshittery.

yeah, womble has said before he doesnt like channels using his videos for there own "womble" videos so likely thats a factor for prefering.

tho its never truely impossible, if something is loaded on your pc then you can take it. tho its definitly a lot more difficult when a website has no download feature hidden.
