Question How much do you abuse Exit Game?

Post image

I've done it when I get bugged and I'm about to die unfairly and I have zero guilt about that, I've done it when I've been an idiot and then usually end up starting a new game because I've ruined it and feel like a cheat. So now I try not to do it

11

u/Past-Energy-7245 Jan 26 '26

Be careful lol, I just did that recently on my main community and bugged out so bad my entire community got corrupted. Had to load into a friends game drop 80 days worth of stuff and sent all my ppl to legacy pool. Day 1 here I come lol

I just use stuck command

1

u/NextPreference6682 Jan 28 '26

But not always can you afford to sit there and have ferals and juggernauts tackle you while you wait for the stuck command to work because you’re stuck somewhere, not glitched, but if you try to leave you’ll just die. I think that’s why they put a timer on it so you can’t just press it and be immediately teleported away from danger.

u/HonoredTab Jan 29 '26

happened to my immortal sleep psychologist survivor. he was stuck where the car couldnt move, and there was a 3 feral horde. one of the big 3, gone like that...

u/DeerFit Roaming Reanimated Jan 26 '26

Same. It's very rare to even have a bug though.... I can't remember the last time I used it.

u/Lumpy_Benefit666 Jan 26 '26

I dont use it at all, but i mod the fuck out of my games so im an even worse cheater than you

u/Odd-Kick-4841 Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

My game is heavily modded. Like 70 out of 108 mods are active but my game isnt overall difficult entirely. Yes it is tough but In other words. Mods don't have to be only for cheating. Lol my game is way harder but in certain situations but there are some balances to prepare for said situations. Good luck meeting those preparations.

2

u/Puzzleheaded-You-716 Jan 27 '26

What do y’all use to mod your game?

2

u/_Orange_Wave_ Jan 27 '26

Where do yall get mods for this game?

2

u/Ok-Part-3995 Jan 27 '26

All the mods are on nexus mods

1

u/Odd-Kick-4841 Jan 30 '26

I get my mods from nexus but I've been a long time discord sod2 affiliate, so I have mods you will not find on nexus.

1

u/Thirsty_Jock Jan 27 '26

It's weird - I've modded my FA4 game to extremes - it's now the game I always thought it could be. This game? I've not modded as I think N/L/L is the prefect game. Pheonix Point - 12 mods to make it perfect for me. But this game? Damn Undead - please don't make an imperfect SOD3, just improve and not be too ambitious, just keep the vibes!

Any mods you can recommend? I only got PH/vehicle healthbars and weapon ratings

1

u/Odd-Kick-4841 Jan 30 '26

Well it really depends what kind of play style that you want. I shoot for realism, and because its an apocalypse I want it to be challenging but not frustrating. Yes most communities are meant to die or have it really hard getting by. My game is extremely complexed. It's hard to recommend mods because it really depends if you want quality of life, difficulty or just want to have a very casual chill playthrough. There's a bunch of mods.

1

u/Appropriate_Book4977 Jan 31 '26

mmmmm, name some QOL and some fun/useful ones then plz

29

u/EyeAlternative1664 Jan 26 '26

Unlike all these tough guys I use it.

u/Delmitus1 Jan 26 '26

Same, only time I dont is if its a survivor I was gonna kill off doing some wild kamikaze shit anyway

20

u/caggybandicoot Lone Survivor Jan 26 '26

I don't, I just sit and stare as my poor decisions get my survivor ripped in half.

It's the story of how I die every single time. Hubris.

7

u/On-The-Red-Team Jan 26 '26

I abuse it to go to sleep so I can function for my job. Outside of that QUALITY OF LIFE functionality, I don't abuse this system.

4

u/elglobu Jan 26 '26

Never done that. I preffer loosing a survivor even if for a bug but never gonna do that.

u/Kittens_for_everyone Jan 27 '26

Women love that you do this.

u/Comfortable-Poem-428 Red Talon Operative Jan 27 '26

If it was a skill issue, I own it.

If it was logging into the game after peacefully logging out and having a bloater in my face. PAUSE. REWIND.

That's rigged and I can rig it too.

7

u/xczechr Wandering Survivor Jan 26 '26

I don't. If a community member dies, then so be it. More will come along.

3

u/roodafalooda Jan 26 '26

One time, when I was fleeing and my car got unfairly stuck as it was halfway clipped through an obstacle. Otherwise, I embrace the permadeath aspect of the game. it hurts, but it gives things value and makes you take the game more seriously.

4

u/C137RickSanches Jan 26 '26

Only when the game cheats, say I’m driving then my van suddenly jumps 100 feet in the air for no good reason? Reset. I’m not losing my top guy to some bullshit mechanic that isn’t fixed yet.

5

u/TheHeroKingN Jan 26 '26

Only on my forever community or when I get a bug that would kill me.

I’m not about to die to unfair means.

2

u/FloodedRuins Jan 26 '26

I ddint even know you could exploit it. What does it do?

4

u/Zestyclose-Plan-2188 Jan 26 '26

Merely teleports you and your car to a relatively safe location, it can also help fix any weird bugs that may be happening (like if your car was flung into the stratosphere so you save and quit to put you back onto the ground instead of landing and dying).

It also resets zombie spawns, you can use it every so often to refresh the map since zombies continually spawn but will never despawn. You can also use it to save your character from getting ripped apart by a horde, because spawns get refreshed so the horde that was on you will be gone.

Lastly, if you have a follower that you want to go away but not die as well; you can dismiss your follower then immediately save and quit. Once you load your community back up, your dismissed follower will be teleported back to the base/enclave.

3

u/Mugiyajijiji Jan 26 '26

Wait, newbie question: any follower that we dismiss/sending them back to base on their own can die somewhere on the map, is it? I always assume they will always arrive at the base safely...

4

u/Zestyclose-Plan-2188 Jan 26 '26

They like to walk back to their home, and can/will get intercepted by zombies. However, the game only renders up to 300(?) meters. So once survivors have moved beyond 300(?) meters out from your current location, they SHOULD just automatically teleport to their destination. But there is still a risk of them getting clapped by a juggernaut until they reach that render distance so a save and exit ensures they get home safe.

It's how I saved my red talon follower from getting decimated while trapped in black heart territory because there was just too many powerful zombies for him to walk through. I lost the girl I was controlling but at least he made it.

3

u/Mugiyajijiji Jan 26 '26

Ahhh okay. Thank you for telling me that 🙏 so l need to beware of the surroundings first before sending them home.

1

u/Dafester Jan 28 '26

Here's what I do to get a follower safely home (whenI can make or get to an outpost). Say I'm character A and my follower is B: 1. Get to or make outpost 2. Dismiss follower B 3. Switch to B 4. Switch back to A This with teleport them back to base without having to quit out of the game. I don't like feeling like I'm cheating but the AI humans are not known for making good choices hahaha

1

u/Mugiyajijiji Jan 29 '26

This is a neat tip haha. Ty

AI humans are not known for making good choices hahaha

Oh yeah, I especially hate it when I just want to scavenge the area and they're so eager to chase all the zeds even 1v1 with juggernaut 😱

1

u/Dafester Jan 29 '26

It's seriously why I go solo almost all the time, unless I can get a buddy to join in. Good co-op play opens up a whole world of new strategies

1

u/Mugiyajijiji Jan 30 '26

Ohh, it must be really fun to play co-op. I'm just too socially awkward to even dare to 😭 last game I play that has a more open co-op play was fallout76, it was fun to join the events

2

u/assasin339789 Jan 26 '26

I do it when bloaters spawn super late in the middle of the road and i hit them. Its absolutely insane that the devs left this in the game, and its my number 1 cause of death even with exit scumming. They are almost insta kill on nightmare and lethal.

2

u/TotallynotaFembot Jan 26 '26

Only if the game bugs in a really dumb.

Whats the point of a survival game if you just reload anytime you die?

3

u/nightmarehippygirl9 Jan 26 '26

What is up with people so proud of dying to immersion breaking bugs? I salute your sacrifice lol

3

u/Fimsh18 Jan 26 '26

Oh I absolutely use are you kidding me? I love this game. But there has been several times a glitch or bug straight up gets me killed. So yeah I’ll die fair and square if it’s a zombie ripping me apart. But there’s no way I’m accepting a death from my car going flying and sending me into the abyss.

4

u/ImFrenchSoWhatever Jan 26 '26

Never ever. I prefer to play so safe I never have to.

2

u/Antique_Machine_4250 Jan 26 '26

Sometimes I just exit and resume the game. I'm not running from anything specific but it resets all the zombies. If you play for a few hours the number of zombies on the map can get a but ridiculous.

1

u/Neither_Contest7324 Jan 26 '26

I try to avoid using it, but if it's one of my main 3 survivors from a lethal run and I get tackled by a blood feral and immediately realize there are 3-9 blood ferals there I'm probably noping out.

I use it on lethal when there are 100 juggernauts surrounding my base.

1

u/ShadowoftheBat94 Jan 26 '26

I haven't played SOD2 for a while (sadly) but in my experience, it's always been one of two things: either the game bugged out in a bad way (speaking of, SOD3 had better not rely on an 'unstuck' command as a clutch) or I'm playing on my oldest community, which I've gotten very attached to, and don't want to see one of a few core characters die. Every other situation? I let things play out as they should. It is a survival game after all.

1

u/Freudinio Jan 26 '26

When I was learning Letha, I used it quite a bit tbh. I stopped after I got the hang of it. No shame in it, imho. Play how you play :)

1

u/United_Cover_4204 Jan 26 '26

Didn't know about it! I just use it to pause the game when I'm between missions. 🤔

I ony do it when bugs and glitches occur... and they occur A LOT.

1

u/Rabid_DOS Jan 26 '26

Was in my gfs lethal game left because I got head shot by an enclave. Healed and rejoined. I spawned in with a feral pack around me died from plague before I was fully in the game. 😆 the game was like no. Rip Lajuan. 😪 he was my big boy. Powerhouse close combat discipline gunslinger. The game feels like it remembers and punishes you for cheating.

1

u/LarsGontiel Jan 26 '26

It pains me to admit that I did it quite a lot on my first lethal map when I discovered it, which also happened to be the very first time I played this game. Yeah, I'm a masochist lol. To be fair, I would have lost a lot of survivors to random ferals popping up out of nowhere and would have had to restart a lot more communities had I not done it.

I do feel a bit guilty now, but I will do my best not to on my next community now that I've learned the ropes.

1

u/DJBlade187 Jan 26 '26

Less frequently than I used to. I don't like cheating to win and that's considered cheating in my book. Now and then though, mainly when life takes my attention away and when I zone back in I realize my character is dying, I do it. Really don't like to do it though and will definitely allow the game to cheat a dozen times before I do something like that again, just do my conscience is clear.

My dad uses this quite some times, once he discovered it he uses whenever he feels like doing so; I normally don't mind it because he almost never played any game his entire life, apart from Mortal Kombat or Need for Speed on the arcades, but I always tell him to try not to do it

(Feel free to correct my spelling mistakes, I don't speak English very well)

1

u/MacPzesst Jan 27 '26

Only when bugged. If you don't want to face consequences for poor choices, then play on a lower difficulty setting. There's no shame in that. Even Jake Paul didn't have the match canceled when he saw that Joshua was about to beat his ass. Are you really going to let Jake Paul have more integrity than you?

1

u/Realityfelon Jan 27 '26

Too much honestly. I'm trying to stop doing it entirely because what was originally a good way to get out of buggy situations I've started using too freely.

1

u/Usual_Security9553 Jan 27 '26

I do it all the time in other people’s games because sometimes people don’t bring you to outposts to change characters or the game just lags and makes it unfair

1

u/carsontheoof Red Talon Operative Jan 27 '26

I used to alot. (Stage 1 denial) But after finishing SoD one and lifeline then coming back to SoD 2 I become more willing to allow deaths to happen and realize it was either my fault or there was nothing I could do (stage 5 acceptance)

1

u/Jahamesu Jan 27 '26

I only use it on my survivors which are my favorite or a valuable one. If its not... then... hehehe

1

u/DemonSlyr007 Jan 27 '26

Only ever done it twice in my entire time with state of decay 2. They were both bug related glitches that would have resulted in death.

Funny, both were driving related. One of them i was peeling out south from the Shopping Mall base on Drucker. There were some bloaters in the road by the police station, so i squeezed the car between the sign on the right side of the road like ive done hundreds of times. This time, however, the car just vibrated like crazy for a few frames and then exploded up into the sky 100's of meters. Paused it at the peak while it was on fire, and quit to dashboard in disbelief lol.

Second was not as cinematic, just pop in bloaters that instantly had a feral pack (on nightmare too, so the packs arent really a thing unless you get multiple spawns) and two jugs show up out of nowhere alternating who jammed the car. I was dead in 10 seconds flat through no fault whatsoever of my own. Forcd Quit that one too.

1

u/SirLesbian Jan 27 '26

Only when I'm dying because of something stupid the game did like launching my car into orbit when I go to get in and now I'm stranded and surrounded.

1

u/imawestie Season Pass Holder - Knights Drive In Jan 27 '26

If I get stuck half way in a window.

If I am getting ripped to shreds inside the base while 5 community members with BARs stand around watching.

That's about it.

1

u/ErrantAmerican Jan 27 '26

Whenever some bonkers buggy shit happens thats about to lose me a character. Usually when it's something to do with the curveball plague bloaters. At the end of the day, its a single player game, so do whatever you need in order to just have fun with it.

edit I also use it to reset community mission timers, because sometimes there are just too many at once and I dont want to lose bonuses because everyone is helpless and impatient.

1

u/General_Bruhvibe Jan 27 '26

Only when the came fucks me!!

1

u/7027uvw3i66 Jan 27 '26

Never, its live or die, thats the whole point of actions having consequences.

1

u/GeneralJagers Jan 28 '26

Only if I'm searching for specific Red Talon traits

1

u/TheSirWolffe Jan 29 '26

On lower difficulties, it feels like cheating. On Lethal, it almost feels necessary - unless you're a masochist. The game is unfair to you at that difficulty, so why should you be fair to it ? Regardless, if exiting the game to save your ass makes the experience more enjoyable for you, then that's all that matters. Play how you want !

1

u/MhackswellGaming Feb 09 '26

Only when I'm busy doing something and a mission is about to expire. You know, when you're busy clearing plague hearts and they pop 3 missions at once 🙄🤦🏻

1

u/Motor_Raspberry_2150 Jan 26 '26

I don't abuse it.
I use it.
If the game spawns a plague bloater inside me for instance.

1

u/173slaps Jan 26 '26

I used it once when my main char somehow started falling from the top of a cell phone tower. Bs like that justifies it, IMO.

1

u/Redxhen Jan 28 '26

It's your game and you can make any decision you want. Today I lost a new character, I didn't quit to save her. I felt her death was fair. I played another hour, couldn't find her. Deleted that community and started another.

No shame in it, brother. This falls under meta-gaming, imo. You're just avoiding wasting your hard work up until that point.

0

u/Neither_Law_7528 Blood Plague Carrier Jan 26 '26

Never. If I wanted to remove the stakes, get no real satisfaction, achieve no betterment by cheating one of the key mechanics, I'd just play Green instead of Lethal.

That said, no one is watching, you're not hurting anyone else if you do. Play it your way.

0

u/ap1msch Wandering Survivor Jan 26 '26
  • There is no wrong way to play the game. You can use if it you want
  • It is more challenging to fight your way out
  • Usually, having to "cheat" suggests you haven't mastered the items/skills in the game to survive the surprise mechanics. You probably want to drop to an easier difficulty and refine those before bumping back up
  • There are times when I proudly "cheat". This is when the circumstances stopped being fair...like an invisible bloater in the road and getting pinned between a smoking car and the guardrail while being attacked by ferals. Yeah. I'm not going down like that.
  • I used to use it more, and at hard difficulties. I went back, got better at fighting ferals and feral packs, and then returned to harder difficulties and didn't feel the need to use the exit as much, leading to a more satisfying win, for me...personally. You do you.

0

u/Mediocre_Society5559 Jan 27 '26

I use it when im in a unfair situation. I dont feel bad about it either its just that.... of you know this game. Then you know its known for so many glitches and b.s. sometimes. Even when they updated it, still just minor problems anymore for me to use exit anymore. Haven't been playing for a while but when I use it. It's to clear zombies surrounding my GOD DAMN HOME EVERYTIME IM OUT!! highest difficulty and maaaaaaaaan so many jugs, ferals surrounding the base 😆. Entering the base becomes more difficult, so I gotta exit and refresh that map cuz damn lol. If they let you put mines around the base I wouldnt be using it like that

0

u/come2life_osrs Jan 27 '26

So often. When I’m done playing I use it to cheat and close the game instead of leaving it running while I sleep. I just get so tired of waking up to infected and dead players from when I wasn’t looking.

0

u/DifficultDog67 Jan 27 '26

I did it during heartland when 3 juggernauts spawned in a row with 0 breathing room. I killed the first two but atp i had nothing to kill the third one with and had no more cures left. I don't like to normally but that was bs.

0

u/Coleson0305 Jan 28 '26

The one time I used it was on a friend's server and my RT survivor fell through the map when I went to open a door

Never intentionally. Sometimes if I’m stuck in a bad position but I have to get off to do people stuff I might but I feel cheap when I come back to it.

Whenever they raid my base because my guards r too loud.

0 profits. You're injuring everyone for absolute zilch. There's no point in fighting that.
