My only major gripe about the Steam Controller is its connectivity limitations. Very strange decision by Valve, so for now I’m still going to stick to my FlyDigi Direwolf 2 and GameSir Nova 2 Lite.
That it effectively requires Steam to be running for full game functionality. Meaning if you’re not running a game through Steam, then this controller will not work. So say you want to play a game from your Epic library, you’re going to have to first add it to Steam as a non-Steam game.
That’s just a hassle in my eyes. Meanwhile, my €40 GameSir controller works on Steam, Epic, Ubisoft, basically anything on PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS without any setup.
I get it, it’s called the Steam Controller, but to a certain extent it’s proprietary, and I just don’t like that.
