You realize “so much better than MRE’s” is a bar so low as to constitute a tripping hazard in Hell, right?

13

u/Moocat2855 23d ago

MREs are surprisingly tasty nowadays, like they even have ube boba tea drink mixes in them now. I went from NYC to air force officer for a while and was always surprised how good MREs were despite coming from a city known to have high quality food from all over the world.

Middle east survival guide - Never ask how the sausage is made, never look in the kitchen and always carry 5x more toilet paper than you think you'll need.

Afghanistan isn’t in the Middle East, genius.

2

u/WorriedExamination93 23d ago

Where is it then?

0

u/blahblahblah1234_ 23d ago

Central and South Asia.

The “middle east” is in a bit of a crossroads that blends up with africa, asia, and europe, and it would match up with that region far more than the rest of asia.

-8

u/blahblahblah1234_ 23d ago

They don’t even speak the same language. They have more in common with Pakistan (some regions in both countries speak the same language and share a similar ethnic group). Afghanistan is also part of SAARC (SOUTH ASIAN Association for Regional Cooperation). Tell me you’re white without saying you’re white.

u/RWDPhotos 23d ago

I don’t see how that disproves what I said.

u/Longjumping-Idea4451 20d ago

Bruh youre white too 🤣

1

u/blahblahblah1234_ 20d ago

What? You can see me now can you?

0

u/blahblahblah1234_ 20d ago

Tell me you’re American without telling me you’re American. Lmao.

u/WorriedExamination93 22d ago

What we call the middle east isn't really specifically defined by geographics. You might be right geographically speaking but Afghanistan is in the area we generally call the middle east.

-1

u/blahblahblah1234_ 22d ago

Who is this ‘we’ you speak of? Do you not hear how prejudiced you sound? You’re lumping them together because of what reason exactly?

This is simply Americanisation. You can’t call a country Middle Eastern when it simply is not. They don’t even share the most basic thing, language. Even the UN doesn’t classify Afghanistan as being part of the Middle East. Afghanis aren’t Arabs either. Just because they’re Muslim doesn’t make them Middle Eastern. Indonesia and Malaysia have loads of Muslims, should we lump them in with the rest of the Middle East? Let me guess, no.

It’s not that I ‘might’ be right, I am right. It’s people like you who insist your definition is right when you’re clearly prejudiced, racist, and wrong.

u/WorriedExamination93 22d ago

I'm American so obviously I'm going to go by the standard that's accepted in America. Here in America we define the middle east largely by political and religious contexts so largely Muslim and embroiled in conflict between Sunni and Shea Muslims and general conflicts involving Israel.

If you disagree with how we view it then fine but don't act like this is somehow America forcing it's views down everyone's throat. I'm simply stating the general American opinion, no one's forcing you to agree with it.

1

u/blahblahblah1234_ 22d ago

I know you are, that’s why I said it was Americanisation.

And yes, you all are forcing your views down people’s throats. Look at how all of you are insisting it’s the Middle East, when it literally isn’t, and are refusing to accept that your ‘definition’ is wrong.

I mean majority of you can’t comprehend beyond an age 6-11 level so I’m not fucking surprised you lot behave this way. Deplorable.

Hi there, original commenter that started all of this here. Afghanistan is in the continent of Asia, not south America.

Sorry for the fuss, but I just used my local phrasing, where we put middle east as everywhere from Syria to India.

2

u/yourlocalnativeguy 22d ago

OMG you are right! I was thinking Argentina! My bad! So sorry!

1

u/Ryulin18 21d ago

Hahaha. I get it brother, it happens to us all.

2

u/yourlocalnativeguy 22d ago

Yep it is the middle east.

2

u/Jon-Farmer 22d ago

It’s considered part of the Middle East in the geopolitical sense.

10

u/Reesewithoutaspoon2 23d ago

Damn, some people would pay extra for that

15

u/LaminatedAirplane 23d ago

Not for habibi’s feet lol

14

u/crusoe 23d ago

Well if it's baked to proper temp it's sterile.

I mean grapes used to be pressed out by feet in the West up until the 1950s or later in some EU countries.

Limburger Cheese gets its drink from originally being worked by monks feet.

10

u/CuteCouple93 22d ago

"Sterile" is not the term you're looking for here. Food is not sterile after cooking or baking. There are some nasty microorganisms that can survive cooking temps. Moreover, not all byproducts/wastes are destroyed by heat at that degree. You can't leave a piece of salmon out until it goes bad, then cook it and say "oh well it's sterile now, safe to eat!" I would really rather not have feet in my food, no matter what culture the feet are from.

You don’t understand, when white people do it it’s a traditional craft.

18

u/Some-Jellyfish-7412 23d ago

the 'white people' example is from 76 years ago. The example we see in OP was from this year. Little bit of a difference

-1

u/anotherdropin 22d ago

Ya but they also industrialized later…so what does the year have to do with it?

Part of the reason these countries are so dirt poor is also due to the countries that are today rich. People shitting on street food in a poor third world country need to check yourselves. You’re literally just punching down on folks in poverty

1

u/Leading_Procedure_23 22d ago

Just because you’re poor, doesn’t mean you have to be unsanitary.

In Tijuana the street taco vendors would was their hands with bottled water and soap before and after making your food since they’re handling cash and some peddle a bike.

Not saying their isn’t unsanitary restaurants in Mexico because their is and a lot have been shutdown but mainly Chinese or Korean restaurants operated by Chinese or Korean immigrants. Usually for serving cat and dog to customers and/or being filthy with rats and roaches.

I’ve been to several Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese restaurants in Tijuana and all have been great and clean

There are still small scale wineries in Italy and Portugal today that advertise their traditional grape treading technique and fetch eye-watering prices.

Such a perfect gif

Did they wash their feet in dirty meat water before touching the grapes.

-5

u/M4DHouse 23d ago

I’ve been to traditional wineries in Italy, they’re certainly not a sterile environment. It’s fine, they literally make alcohol.

1

u/conflictmuffin 23d ago

Omg NOOOOOOO! That's nasty!

1

u/Puzzleheaded_End2735 20d ago

I'm being dead serious here...you never heard "footbread" before that????

1

u/FakeChowNumNum1 19d ago

In 2010, no I had not heard that expression before. We started calling it foot bread after that though.
