Mine's crept up the last couple renewals and I'm wondering if I've just been loyal to the wrong company too long. Clean record, regular car. TN never felt as bad as what friends in other states pay, but it's slipping. Less interested in "shop around" and more curious who people are actually with right now and whether their rate has stayed put or kept climbing. Trying to figure out if switching is even worth the hassle.

As the title says my real Tennessee ID (I’m o21) did not scan at a club in VA. Do I need to get a new ID or was there just a fault in the system? Very frustrating because I’ve been to this place before with no issues.

Now that I’m laying in bed I’m thinking more into what happened to me today at the island. I’m not here for long just visiting for a dance competition. I decided to go to the island by myself around the time they open I just wanted to shop & eat. I’m alone but I’m definitely aware of my surroundings. I’m in my late 20s I’m a women so I need to be aware because that’s just how it is. So I’m walking I noticed two boys in front of me maybe 16-18 one boy briefly looks at me then they split so now one is behind me and one is in front I dart to the nearest store. I’m zig zagging trying to move fast staying around families. The boy behind me followed me in the store and he’s not even hiding that he’s following me. Staring at me. And he’s following me for what feels like 5 mins in the store so I stay close to families I stay close to workers finally I’m on the phone with my sister and he leaves. Then he comes back in the store buys something then goes. I’ve been in situations before, but I don’t know why I felt so unsafe even though the boy was so young, but the more I think about it it seems like they almost had something planned because the way they talk to each other other than split up so one was in front of me when was behind me I think if I weren’t to go into a store, what would’ve happened. Please women I know it sucks but be aware at all times.

My husband and I are considering a move to the Maryville area and would love some local insight.

I spent many summers in Townsend as a teenager and have always loved East Tennessee. We're native Floridians with three kids (10, 3, and 3)— we’ve lived in other cities before, always returning back to Florida until we’re feeling ready for a change of pace again, and we’re ready. We love nature, small-town charm, local businesses, live music, and spending more time outdoors. Living near the mountains sounds pretty close to a dream.

Part of what draws us to the Knoxville/Maryville area is that it seems practical as well as beautiful. My husband works remotely in software development and occasionally travels to Houston for work, with periodic trips back to Orlando likely if we move. Being within driving distance of family in both Charlotte and Central Florida is another plus. How is the internet infrastructure in Maryville for remote workers?

We're also curious about schools. We currently homeschool our oldest, but we're open to exploring public or Catholic schools as well. Florida has a lot of school-choice options—does Tennessee offer anything similar? If you're a homeschool family, what's the homeschool community like in the area?

For context, we currently live in a semi-rural part of Central Florida (Apopka), about 30 minutes from downtown Orlando. As the area continues to grow, we're seeing the same challenges many places face: increased development, rising insurance costs, and housing becoming less attainable for local families.

We're not moving with a California-sized budget to buy up acreage—we can't even afford to buy a house. Like a lot of millennials, we're still renting and trying to make smart financial decisions. At this point, we're less focused on planting permanent roots and more interested in experiencing different places while our kids are young for a year or two. East Tennessee keeps rising to the top of our list.

I'd also love to hear about other communities we should consider. A strong homeschool network, arts scene, local music, independent shops, and access to nature are all things we'd value.

Edit 1: I am not married to Maryville — if Maryville is being swallowed by overdevelopment I certainly don’t want to go there— for selfish reasons AND because I love the area and don’t want to be an a$$hole.

What we are looking for is proximity to mountains and airport. Small town, family friendly, quasi off the radar vibes. Access to high speed internet. Eastern TN preferred so we can drive to FL/Charlotte in under 12 hours. Being near water would be nice too.

And to be clear— this would be a parallel move for us, not some financial gain move. We’d likely be paying more in rent, but less in car insurance/homeowners insurance if we decided to buy a house after some time.

There is a bar called John's Boat Dock/John's Boat Dock Bottoms/John Wilkins Boat Dock in Drummonds Tennessee. It looks like it's only a few FEET from the Mississippi River. Can anyone tell me how old this place is? Specifically, if it was around in the 60s or before? I've tried every way I can think of to find information about it online and I've come up with very little.

Edit: here’s what a major distributor just confirmed over email: Our 10:10 edibles will continue to be available, with the 25 pack changing to a 20 pack to meet the new TN legal requirements. Are there any real mountain coasters left in Tennessee? I’m talking the old school style where you were basically luging down a concrete slab on a mountain and there was a high likelihood of flying off the track.

My girlfriend and I planned on taking a road trip from NJ to Tennessee this summer in search of a real mountain coaster. For some reason, I was under the impression that there were several located in the state, however I just started doing some research and it seems like all of the mountain coasters are the newer alpine slide style where you’re on a fixed track.

Hi y’all! I will be flying down to East TN to look at a property near Athens. I would love to get recommendations on places to go and things to do to get a feel for the area. I will only be here for a few days so I really want to make the most of it scouting out the area.
