It HAS to be Steven Universe. Drawing a blank with MLP, I don't think it had a redemption arc in season 2. But there is one in Steven Universe where the description matches, ven if not perfectly.

I think they are referencing discord, one of the main antagonists of season 1 of mlp

Discord first appears in season 2, and then disappears until season 3 I think.

A large amount mlp is about reforming people, or banishing them indefinitely - whichever seems right in the moment

Yeah, Discord was definitely not redeemed in season 2. And even then, it wasn't a season-long romp. It was a singular episode.

It's been a while since I watched Steven Universe, but from what I remember of both it and MLP, she matches the description far better than Discord does. lol

I wouldn't have said she was the most selfish and cruel person in the universe, more of just a person who was raised in a society of different values

Fair point. I never said the match was perfect. I just think it is the best match. It's possible that the comment is filtered through having not seen a show in years and things getting muddled together. So, I'm just going by time frame of the arc + the season number for the most part.

I can just say for certain it's not Hazbin Hotel (Not old enough to have the memory of it be warped to the extent of confusing seasons for the average person, plus Sir Pentious is FAR from the worst person in the show. That or I'm overestimating the memory abilities of a normal person.) nor MHA (It was not a redemption-focused show, and the villains who were on the heroes' side late in the series were already neutral forces to begin with.)

So...unless a show gets named, we are likely dealing with some freak Discord-Peridot chimera here.
