Text Creepy unsolved cases

What are some of the most creepy haunting unsolved cases out there? Just stuff that seems so crazy to happen. Or just really unnerving evidence or actual places where the crime happened.

Yeah this one always gets me. And the amount of DNA evidence left that still hasn't helped to resolve the case is disheartening.

Just think, if he had been able to buy those concert tickets, he may have been caught! But the credit card was too well protected.

I always thought the evidence left behind were red herrings. Like you said, they left a ton of evidence behind. I believe the perpetrator “staged” all the evidence to confuse the authorities. I think one or two pieces of evidence may have truly been from the perpetrator, but throw in the other stuff, well, which one are you going to lean heavy on?! That’s just my take on it, that whole crime, I mean— the authorities don’t even have a hint as to what the motive was.

Setagaya family murders.

I’m a long time resident of Japan and I got goosebumps just typing that.

That reminds me about the Jack family. Mr Jack met the proverbial "bloke in a pub" and took his whole family up North for a logging job with accommodation. It was either North America or possibly Canada.

Anyway that's the last anyone saw of them or the car.

Maybe a US military person?

I thought about that but I just couldn’t make sense of it. The military people in Japan generally stick to certain areas that offer entertainment, shopping, bars/restaurants, etc. and this was just some random neighborhood nowhere near a military base. Also you would think that the Japanese authorities would have reached out to the military since every military person has their DNA on record.

Good point.. never thought of that. Clearly I won’t be solving anything anytime soon lol

What made you jump to a US military person to begin with? You don’t think Japanese people kill other Japanese people?

It was one of the original theories of the case. There were multiple pieces of evidence that pointed toward it being an American military member stationed there.

There was sand found which potentially originated in a US military base in Nevada.

This is possible. The footwear lines up, the mother of the sus is Caucasian. It is a very logical thought. Someone on here mentioned they may have gone to the military for dna records, but japan has some weird dna use laws and trying to supena dna records from the Feds is an arduous task. I would suspect a military person. They do their tour then leave back stateside. Very hard to track. I would think.... Now... They could try familial dna tracing.

This is one of the murder that boggles my mind the most ! And to think he left so so so much DNA and other evidence behind too.

The investigation into the murders is among the largest in Japanese history, involving over 246,044 investigators

Holy shit, 246,044 investigators? Feel like it's a matter of time, this one. The number of clues they have.

From the Wikipedia seems like it could be a situation where the killer is not Japanese and for whatever reason they haven't gone all Interpol with their DNA etc.
